Title: USB Erupter help needed
Post by: joae1975 on June 05, 2013, 08:42:35 PM
Noob here. I have a new/used Asus on Windows 7.  Trying to ruin cgminer-nogpu.  Plain Cgminer won't run.  It says:

Icarus detect <1:5> failed to initialise <incorrect device?>
USB init, open device failed, err -12, you need to install a Windows USB driver for - AMU device 1:5
Icarus detect <1:5> failed to initialise <incorrect devise?>

I tried to follow all the other thread's instructions.  All the read me files.  Some things didn't make any sense to me, couldn't do what they were saying.  What does all this mean above?  What should I do?

Thanks!!

Use bfgminer 3.0.2 or cgminer 3.1.1

Tried to run bfgminer, it says "The program can't start because libcurl-4.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

How do I do that?

When I run cgminer, it says ".....OpenCL.dll is missing..."

What should I do?  Delete everything and start over?  Reformat?

Post in the CGMiner thread so Kano and ckolivas can see your question/problem.

The CGMiner for no gpu says that?  I have read ckolivas to follow the BFL ASIC readme for use with the block erupters.

There are multiple youtube videos which walk you through setting them up, I won't post any because differnet people learn different ways, there's a few on there, so pick the one you understand. There are complete noob ones to slightly advanced guides.

I think there's youtube videos which walk you through usb hubs, power consumption. Some videos went into a lot of depth if you have the time to look at them. Most of them use cgminer have a FAQ in the description explaining common problems.

Code:
cgminer-nogpu.exe -o pool.50btc.com:8332 -u bitaddress -p password --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM11

Thanks bro!  Seems like I'm having registry issues.  My geek friend is going to fix it tonight via web meeting.  I'm a mac boy and I bought a used Asus online. I did something to it, for shame.
