You can reuse addresses... There is no rule stopping you from using the same address over and over[1]... it just isn't recommended for various security and privacy reasons. So, your coins should be fine. Once the transaction confirms, you should get your bitcoins into your wallet.

[1] The only time this might be a problem is with "one time" deposit addresses on an exchange... they may not credit your account if you deposit to an old address.

All i know even you are using old address and you generate new address it will be credited to your wallet there is not problem on that.
Correct the only problem is the exchange who are requiring one time deposit, the fund you send was not credited and there is no reversal of transaction in bitcoin once it will already confirmed there is not thing to cancel it. Try to contact the support of the recipient wallet if they will reverse the transaction and it will be credited to your account.
For now it will be charge to your experience and you may need more careful next time.

If you are using most wallets, you can receive on an "old" address. Do you have the private key for this old address still?  If you are asking about an old exchange address, that would depend on the exchange and their policies.

To be honest, I can't get this transaction from my own mempool or in blockexplorer.com . I can see from the blockexplorer you provided a link to, that the fee is about 20 satoshis per byte, which is pretty bad. Also it is suspicious that the transaction is only 150 bytes and the addresses start with 3 which means that it is P2SH tx. Is this a segwit transaction, since it is so small,if so, how is it an old address?

All rather a moot point now... the transaction has been confirmed:

Included In Blocks   489678 ( 2017-10-13 20:07:11 + 1,042 minutes )

The only real issue with it was that it got sent during the recent surge in BTC value, and there has been an enormous increase in transaction volume... and the mempool is full of unconfirmed transactions.

I'm unsure of the "exact" fee paid as it looks like it is a SegWit transaction and so the block explorers seem to be reporting different things (some say 372 bytes, with 78 sats/byte, others say 150 bytes with 194 sats/byte fee)
