I wish to start Bitcoin mining, please suggest a best Antminer ?

For bitcoin mining, there is only one that can potentially be run profitably: the antminer S9

I clearly stated: potentially... If you pay > 10cent/Kwu for your electricity, chances of seeing any profit are slim. Even if you pay <10cent/Kwu, you still need a good plan and you need to be lucky. Antminer S9's seem to break easyliy, and a 90 day warrantee period for a chinese company does not seem to be equal to a 90 day guarantee period for an US/EU company (bitmain customer service is rumoured to be really bad)

The AntMiner line of products for Bitcoin mining is the "s"serie.
And the best "S" Bitcoin miner, is ever the last last because it is the more powerfull and efficient.
Then, the best Antminer for Bitcoin miner is actually the Antminer S9.

S9 for sure (it's the latest one)

But I feel we should mention that you can also use L3+ (this one is for mining scrypt coins like LTC) or D3  (this one is for mining X11 coins like DASH) to earn BTCs.
When you point these miners to e.g. prohashing or nicehash they will convert mined coins to BTC.

May I ask why you wish to mine? for profit - to join the network? - as a hobby?

I would recommend you to look into the D3 and L3+! Those could be good alternatives (alt coins) if you want to make some profits.

So IT's better to mine alts that bitcoin? what is a better altcoin to mine?

Ok thanks. Also do we need any kind of preventive maintenance for  antminer S9... Also in one stretch how long I can keep this running?

Buy it directly from bitmain ( now they have S9 and L3+ available with delivery end of Nov.)

If you want to try resellers you should be careful and search for users feedback first ( there is too many scammers).

I'm one of those guys that stopped mining a long, long time ago (my electricity price is close to 30 cents/kwu, so i couldn't mine btc profitably no matter what kind of asic i bought). So, since i don't own an S9 myself, i can't really give hands-on advice on this matter.
However, i don't think you can go wrong by making sure your miners are located in a dry, well cooled and dust-free environment. It might also be a good idear not to overclock them to much, and use some compressed air to clean them once in a while... The fact remain that many people complain about the build quality of the S9 (as well as the aftersale support), and no matter how much care you give to a machine, it won't make up for poor build quality in the end.

If you wanna make profit then just buy the bitcoins and hold them... you will not make more money by mining

You're a bit late for btc mining. You can try your luck with the alts though.

I am going to second this one. Subsidized energy is the antminer's best friend, and dust/pet dander its worst enemy.

For bitcoin mining Antminer SX which is proccesing to develop now and testing, but people know S9 and talks about it. You can prefer S9.

Are you an asic miner? Could you show me your mining history or profits monthly
