25th of October for BTC Gold (but its a scam so you should ignore it)

Keep your coins in a private wallet where you can hold your private keys for maximum security.

I don't store any private keys. I use e-wallets. I think it is more secure. I see no reason to change tactics storage of bitcoins at the time of this fork. In August my coins were in my wallet and had no failures. A month later, I received free bitcoin cash. I hope that this time will be the same.

I would prefer to use an online BitCoin wallet. There are number of good reasons to keep online BitCoin wallet.

Regarding BTC Hardfork, this website http://btcgpu.org/ says " Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable."

I don't advice that you must keep your bitcoins on an exchange for safekeeping but if you don't want to deal with some hassle if you want to convert it then look for those web wallets that are supporting bitcoin gold.

1.- Here you can see more info: http://btcgpu.org/

It's not even working the website is down and there's no message if they are doing something or if it's under maintenance.

You should be careful though!
The best method is to use a decentralize wallet so you can easily use your private keys to get your funds. However, if you trust your wallet so much to give you the other part of the forked chain, then, it is your call.

However, the fact that you cut of the BCC last time doesn't mean as it is good to always take precautionary measures. Probably if you read the news of the last ethereum fork that went wrong pretty bad, you will know why.

All you need is hold private key of your BTC address! After fork time! You have to coin! BTC in chain and BTG in new chain!

1.  October 25, 2017 is the actual hard fork.
2. It is not advisable to keep on the exchange much better to transfer it to your wallet to get the free bitcoin gold of how much value of bitcoin you have in your wallet.

I wouldn't recomment you to keep your coins in an exchange, ever, even if there wasn't a fork. You need to have absoulute control over your private keys in order to keep your coins safe. I recommend you to use Electrum. Or depending on the amout you own, a hardware wallet (Ledger Nano S or Trezor) would be the best option.

Most people are afraid not to receive the results of the split fork and moreover you accept it slower than others so they have already sold it while you have not got it, it can make the price in dump/pump.

Yea keep together in a private key wallet address like blockchain.info or mycelium put them together in one wallet to make more on bitcoin gold fork it is likely to copy the initials of your bitcoin in the bitcoin gold but i think youll have to manually get your bitcoin gold fork  balance.Welll its better to keep it

1 THe bitcoin fork will come at 25 october and this month,
2 for the better decision you must try to keep your bitcoin on the exchange site that will be distributed the bitcoin gold to the bitcoin holders just like binance exchange site. I dont know about other like bittrex or even polo.

You should be safe if you keep your bitcoin to a wallet that you have total control of your private keys. And just wait once the dust have been settle, which wallet to moved your bitcoin to get your free bitcoin gold. You can also keep in on an exchange that supports bitcoin gold to get the free money. One thing though with exchanges is that they have the private keys. But to be hassle free then go ahead and keep it there by Oct 25 then moved your coins after you get your free money.

To be honest I think this BTG fork is completly shit. Just a marketing advertising that makes rich peoples even richer then before. I would never invest in such a coin.

These hard fork with BTC are so confusing for new adopters.
After Bitcoin Cash, now Bitcoin Gold.. What's next? And Bitcoin pumps and dumps like crazy which is a serious issue.
I don't think Bitcoin was created for speculators, we are now so far away from the original idea/concept.

The fork is going to happen on October 25, so you must have your coins in a wallet that is going to accept bitgoingold, so by this way you are going to receive them after the fork is done.
but i will continue holding as much bitcoin as i can, i want to receive those free tokens so by this way i am going to cashout all the money coming from bitcoin gold, maybe it is not a good move, but i want to buy some stuff, it has been a long time since i dont buy stuff for myself.
but i will wait, maybe there are more opportunities in the upcoming days.

Bittrex will not support at the begining bitcoin gold. So if you have any bitcoin there it's better to move to another wallet.

Guys, what you will do if BTG would be scam? And all get nothing. But somebody sell own alts for this fork.

I never know and understood about it, I just use the usual Bitcoin, hahaha. Although I often hear about Bitcoin Cash, but I also never tried it or looking for it. I just focus on how to get Bitcoin as much as possible because that's what matters at the moment. I also hope that all these new innovations do not lead to scam and harm many people.

But, I also want to ask, what is Bitcoin fork? I only know that it is a certain amount of Bitcoin reduction, but I do not know the cause. Can someone explain it to me? And how to know fork that will come?

On October 25, just like what happen in BCH you should not make any transactions, store your private key and wait for reliable sources like theymos of when its safe to make transactions. Guide will be released on how to claim your free BTG after the fork.

I have bitcoin in both my electrum wallet and on a gdax wallet. So i know i can redeem my bitcoin gold from my electrum wallet but what about getting gold from my gdax one, that is another question?

My advice is this. Sell your bitcoin into tether when it reaches $6000. After BTG the price will drop. I estimate to either 5500 or lower down to below 5000. Buy your bitcoin back at either of these levels.

BTG is speculated at 10 to 1. Therefore at $6000 it will be worth $600. I personally doubt this. It will be more like $300.

Do the MATH and you will see why this is the really smart strategy.

Hi, everyone.
what do you plan to do with your BTC?
Is it better to reinvest in BRC gold? how risky is it?

in my opinion, BTG is a scam, it will not suffer the same situation of BCH, actually, most people who plan to make profits from this fork will disappoint probavly, btg will worth nothing

Nope it is not more secure.. actually it's the opposite.

You *should store your coins on your own home PC wallet and back up those private keys etc.
Me i usually put the keys from the wallet program on a USB drive then stashed that at my house.

Storing your coins on a web site is stupid.
When ever the site owner wants he can simply take your coins.. then feed you an excuse.
Get it ? Site OWNER ?
Yeah.. "owner" he owns the site and your coins too.

If you don't have the private keys they are NOT your coins.

It is only 8 days left and up to this very date I have not heard anyone to name at least one wallet or at least one exchange that will support BTG for sure. All I hear is that I have to have access to my private key. Can you at least name me one wallet, that gives you access to private key. Not to the seed, but to the private key itself, without using third party software to extract it. Please name at least one, if you know of any.

With the upcoming hardfork, i guess it is best and much safer if you will keep your btc in your wallet rather than lettingit stay in the exchange. Wallets are more secure especially when you are keeping huge amounts and diversified coins.

Anyone that is storing the coins on a  exchange is crazy.  History has enough examples to show you how insecure it is for your money.
