Title: Bitcoin Silver hard fork?
Post by: very_452001 on October 14, 2017, 11:46:08 AM
Theres bitcoin cash, there's bitcoin gold, shall I assume there will be a bitcoin silver hard fork before the end of this year or 2018?

Physically there's less silver in the world compared to gold yet silver is worth less than gold. So shall I assume bitcoin silver will have a less total supply than 21million and the logo ticker will be silver colour like litecoin?

How will the markets react to this hard fork if there was one and what will happen to litecoin?

It is funny how some developers try to remake bitcoin cash's success in their hard fork without showing seriousness at all. I hope this lunacy of a hard fork train would stop soon it will be bad for original btc's economic status to always have another version of bitcoin. It might also cause a huge price dump, because of this lunacy we might see another repeat of mt. Gox like dump. Having bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold hardfork is enough as it is at the moment, having more is not good for btc's health.

It never ends.  ::) ::)

Am I the only one getting sick of Bitcoin forks every few weeks/months? Bitcoin Cash paved the way for an endless supply of crap btc forks.

Next year we will probably get a healthy supply of Bitcoin metals. Platinum, Copper, Bronze, Titanium, Aluminum.

Maybe we can fork into other raw materials too? Bitcoin rocks, pebbles, boulders. Maybe even Bitcoin Dirt, Sand, Mud?

Sigh.

The new trend is set, so I expect more and more altcoins to come with Bitcoin in their name. Is Platinum taken btw? :D How about Diamond and Ruby? :D
But they bring no value at all. It's the hype they rely on to sell worthless coins to unsuspecting newbie trader/speculator wannabes.

I really hope it stops as it is really getting out of hand. If any developer does not like how things are being down should best go start his own shit coin from fresh rather than forking out of bitcoin, it is only going to end up being shitty as upcoming investors may end up seeing bitcoin to be less established and non-immutable.

What we have is okay and if there is any other fork coming up anytime soon apparently should be discarded by the community.

I wish it was that easy -- it seems like the level headed folks who actually care about cryptos see the problem. But that doesn't seem to stop traders from buying the new bitcoin forks at a ridiculous price. Bitcoin Gold has nothing but problems and security concerns, yet it looks like it is still going to start trading for more than $100 ... As long as bitcoin forks keep selling for ridiculous amounts, there will be more and more of them.
Which is entirely unfortunate for the bitcoin community.  :(

As far as I'm aware there is silver, platinum and uranium (don't quote me on that one) happening, they are all stupid money grabs and won't amount to anything.

ah come on, this is crazy, there is really no need for it,
but i suppose there really is nothing to stop people from trying to make their own grab for more profit.
Unless there is no serious development in these proposals there will be no support.

i find it very good that there are new forks and there will also be probably more of them. silver,.... are going to be start of it. and i am happy because this will prove that creating this type of forks from bitcoin only puts your project down and in the end you will be wasting your time if you are a real developer not a cash hungry idiot.

How will the markets react to this hard fork if there was one and what will happen to litecoin?

i have a more interesting question actually!
what do you think if the fork was from litecoin instead of from bitcoin?

has anyone ever thought why every fork like this is always from bitcoin? ;)

Another form of the money grabber purpose. Why so many scammers are using this method more and more. But how stupid those traders are just trying to take a very high risk in this shitcoin. This is very ridiculous.
The name of bitcoin already used in so many hype project just like etoken and bitcoin fork.
The more people are realizing about the fork is a new way to get free money without involved any risk.

What is wrong with this. Bitcoin gold is enough tobe scam coin. And now there will be bitcoin silver. Guys just learn from the past. If you want an airdrop its okay but just dont buy it on exchange especially if the coin has a premined and huge premined. I read in some chat people saying bitcoin gold has 800k coin pre mined..

And this is when forks start to become worthless. Bitcoin cash was very successful compared to similar altcoins, so people are going to try to start piggy-backing on top of that and create their own forks.

Soon enough people will realize this and forks will become another form of altcoins.

Just a quick question. If bitcoin can be forked then there is a possibility that all the other coins can be forked too? Why didn't the other coins followed and get forked every few months? It is because bitcoin is getting slower and slower the more people using it?

Many reasons, popularity factor, demand, adoption and first mover advantage. Forking Bitcoin is indeed profitable for miners having fork as well as to bulk hodlers. That is why we are hearing these shit forks everyday. Everyone is just ready with fork. First BCH, then BTG, B2X is coming, Bitcoin Silver is speculated, Bitcoin eat, sleep and shit to follow. I hope some step should be taken like of having enough support before having a fork. Else this bullshit will continue.

New trend is set indeed and devs are now seeing the fork as a way to make some cash from the forked chain.
As funny as it sounds, honestly, it is infuriating and I really hope it stops. Like you said, they bring no value at all and they end up being a shitty coin at the end. If they have an idea, they can build it and see how it grows in the market but creating a stupid forked chain because they do not agree with satoshi's gospel is uncalled for.

Outside bitcoin Cash which success comes because of the effort put in by the developers in making a strong competing advert and publicity other one may not be able to succeed. Bitcoin gold may not go far more than some altcoins and if we have another splitting called "bitcoin silver" it may turn to fun and at the end turn to one of those shit coins. The exchangers may list them on their site but at the end or in years to come there may dilisted them as people will be uninterested in them.  Litecoin has take the image of silver in the cryptocurrency market and other coins that may come up with that kind symbol are going to get things difficult.

Are you naive to believe these coins have real developers like bitcoin? Someone with no skill in coding could be the one behind all these forks.
Maybe some of them have real developers but since crypto currency is new even bitcoin developers are learning as they go. Silver/ gold/ platinum/ ebtc/ eeth/ ebtc2/ ebtc3/ btg1/ btg2 etc, I don't have any of them stored for long term, anything I could get I immediately sell them for the highest price.
