Title: Getting free BTC is a waste of time
Post by: DUMmy97531 on June 06, 2013, 01:14:28 PM
For those that are interested ............

Getting free BTC from websites is a waste of time.

When I started I went to websites and followed links and got small payouts, typical 0.15 mBTC. They are now MicroBTC

In any case, I collected about 0.00954 BTC (took me some effort) and tried to transfer them to a another wallet.

The cost for this transaction from the one wallet to another was 0.008 (system cost)

Following links and getting free BTC is not worth the trouble

Just my 2 cents

But seriously, thas why you should avoid the 1000 satoshi and lower free faucets like a plague

Seriously the only way I could see free bitcoin sites being somewhat helpful to you is if your a starving african and somehow have a computer to use.

The only good use of very very small fraction of a bitcoin is to help get someone understand how to use their wallet and I think if you are a newbie (like me) it's pretty cool to see something even if next to nothing come into your newly created bitcoin wallet :)

However, there are some sites that make a significant payment after you've put some time into them.

For one thing, free.btc.pt (https://free.btc.pt/login/?action=register&AFFID=5870) can give 0.02 BTC after about a week of clicking on "Watch Video" and changing to another tab.

Indeed, many of the sites now allow you to delay payments until larger amounts can be withdrawn.

People used to complain back in 2011 about 0.01 BTC from one faucet for one submission being too little to bother with.
For some people using those faucets back then that has meant building up more than 10 BTC...

What will those small amounts from today's faucet be worth in 5 or 10 years time.  ;)

Also even small amounts can be aged and combined with larger amounts to avoid larger transaction fees.

But here is the real point, imo, of using these faucets and other free BTC sites:

What good is it if one only gets very very small amounts?
