Lols, believe me Nigerians are more victims of scam. And again I don't blame them much, I blame their government. They are the giant of Africa but 70 percent jobless, no reasonable empowerment.

Where did you find this news from? Something unexpected without any relevant reference doesn't make a sense at all. Usually governments do not like the idea of cryptocurrencies because they cannot control it. But as you are saying something different, it would be worth reading the source of your information.

I am African and in my country there are many Nigerians and from what I have seen for many years, Nigerians are responsible for many crimes in my country, from murder crimes, murder to albinos because of witchcraft, stealing bones from the dead in cemeteries , steal our gold, deceive the citizens of my country with their practices of witchcraft

Any country with high inflation or where its common to move money across borders or where there's limited access to banking or corrupt banking is going to be a good market for cryptocurrencies.

I'm not an African but I know some people from Nigeria, especially from Lagos, who are very much fond on cryptocurrencies. As a matter of fact, the forum where I started studying and learning about Bitcoin and other digital currencies has many of its members come from that Nigerian state.

So judging by the number of people involved there as well as the number of conferences about Blockchain and cryptocurrency summits being held there in that country, perhaps I can say that that place is the top leading African country enamored to virtual assets such as Bitcoin and others.

I would assume that one of the top five leading countries would be one that has had issues with corrupt governments, land title issues, entrepreneurial spirit, more than 5 NGO's present and if their remittance is higher than their GDP then they would be a great candidate for cryptocurrencies.  I would love to see blockchain integrate into various countries throughout Africa and create prosperity and get rid of this whole gift giving notion that charities and people in the West feel the continent needs.

I think the leader of the pack is South Africa and in close second might be Kenya {BitPesa} ....The problem is M-PESA is

very popular in these African countries and Bitcoin came after M-PESA. Bitcoin became very unpopular in these third world

countries when the MemPool were spammed and the miners fees went through the roof. $1 to $8 miners fees might not be

a lot for people in 1st world countries, but it is definitely an issue for people in 3rd world countries.  ::)

You mush have had quite an amount of experiences to be able to conclude that Nigerians are the only ones responsible for the social, physical and economic woes that have happened in your country but its important to know that all over the world are people who are deficient in morality are present.

The subject matter is about cryptocurrency, for me I would take South Africa at the top and not be blinded by population or being giant of a thing to decide. I have seen fintech companies starting out from South Africa and projects coming from there compared to other Africa countries then after that the rest of the countries can take the remaining slots.

This is an insult. You don't stereotype, or draw general conclusions because of a few bad elements. This statement is highly irresponsible, and unacceptable. I am drawing the mods attention to it.

Friend, I take exception to that comment on Nigeria.
Nigeria is not a country of scammers. I'm a Nigerian and Im not a scammer.
and in any case, the last time i checked, there are scammers in every country of the world, i see no reason why nigeria should be so derogatorily branded.
Whatever your orientations and believes are, I think you should have respect for any sovereign nation you come across.
Please desist from hate and derogative comments like this.
You cant blame people on here since we do have the freedom of speech regarding on our views and experiences but well its not being a racist thing but I do somehow believe on the thing being said by Slowdeath which Nigeria place do have lots of scammers but not all just like yourself but according on the statistics and experience then for sure people would already know what we are supposed to say on here.

I only heard Nigeria about their crypto currency development but I do believe some african countries are on their way to build digital assets as well. Everyone knows about Bitcoin and all these stuff for the future economy so no state or government should be left behind.
Ghana for sure and South Africa will be soon.

You can add Swaziland to this list now : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2344348.0

Swaziland's Central Bank has come out in support of cryptocurrencies saying it will assess the potential benefits domestically. Speaking at the just concluded Swaziland Economic Conference (SEC 2017), the Governor of the Central Bank of Swaziland, Majozi Sithole, disclosed the regulator had been researching the virtual currencies internally.

Once you get government support for Bitcoin, things happens quickly. < Just look at what happened with Japan, when their government gave the green light for Bitcoin to be used as a currency >

Well Done Swaziland ^smile^

it's funny how most Africans are intimidated by Nigerians.sorry slow death or what ever ur name is.its not our fault we have very big egos and are very tenacious. Just like JAY-Z we sell ice in winter,we sell water to a well and sell fire in hell.sure a country as populous as ours in a developing economy is bound to have its fair share of criminals but still we rise as a nation and for that we are proud as a nation and of our heritage.u said "in ur country" which funny because u are not even courageous enough to call it my name and I can even bet the most successful people "in our country" are Nigerians.bitcoin adoption in Nigeria is huge. Switching from bitcoin to fiat and vice versa takes less than 10 mins with thousand of merchants in the business.u might not like Nigerians because of ur low self esteem or complex but u cant deny the fact that Nigeria is setting the pace for fintech development and adoption in Africa even with the limited resources available.

Alas sometimes we do make mistake but according to this google trend from
https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/news.coinify.com/countries-interested-in-bitcoin-google/amp/

Nigeria is rank three search for crypto.. I think Nigeria should be at least second position in Africa. Zarfund rank Nigeria 2 user of crypto in the world after China. Saw many post of Nigeria being in the top five in the world. But here is an exemption let's be objective plz.
