Title: AltCoins Bleeding
Post by: s4v4g3 on October 14, 2017, 04:55:43 PM
Hello!

After the last rise of BTC I lost 20% of my alts
Here are the coins I invested in:
NEO - bought at 0.0063
STRAT  - bought at 0.00074
QTUM  - bought at 0.012
XRP  - bought at 0.000054
OMG  - bought at 0.0017
WAVES - bought at 0.00088

I didn't see that market crash coming tho..
My question is do you think these coins might go up again after 25th Oct.?

Currently BTC is rising rapidly which causes the altcoins to bleed. Most probably, this is because of traders selling altcoins and buying BTC to enjoy free bitcoin gold. My view is that altcoins will recover after the fork on 25 Oct.

On a side note, XRP has good news recently and the volume is picking up. Hopefully, the price will increase during the Oct event.

They will go back up after BTG, people will take profits from BTC/BTG and move back in to alts.

Just HODL up and dont cut losses.Just like yours my portfolio is bleeding which most alts that i did invest are on negative which would really make you panic specially when you see 20-30% negative but well this is how market works and i would say prices would eventually recovered after these forking event on bitcoin.

It won't last very long. Soon after the hard fork, every thibg will go back to normal. Of course I don't expect altcoin prices to fall very much than today's price.

Lol 20% thats nothing pshh. I think my overall portfolio got smashed by like 40% (I did have one big holding). But as per your question yeah I think that is a reasonable assumption to make. If the price of btc has been rising

because of btc gold then after btc gold snapshot happens it can only stand to reason that btc itself will likely retrace down some. This is my best guess though nothing is certain.

This is in the nature of the game unfortunately. You need to be careful when you see dramatic rise in the bitcoin value. Altcoins are more vulnerable and make you lose money in cases like this. Only thing you need to do is not to panic and don't sell your alt coins. They will eventually gain value and turn to normal soon.

Last weeks have been crazy for altcoins. In my eyes, everything is on sale! :)
Of course, this happens because bitcoin is doing crazy good.

In my opinion some alts have have not reached the bottom yet, others are very near. I think that in November we should expect some recovery but it depends on BTC. If it continues to rise alts will catch up. But what we see now people are dumping their altcoin holdings for BTC. There are 3 major reasons, IMO: 1. Upcoming BTC fork and "free coins"; 2. very quick BTC rise and FOMO associated with it; 3. Traders are just shorting their altcoin positions.

Just hold. they will go up after this whole bitcoin people chasing the free money. Everyone has been moving money out of alts temperately so just be patient. In the meantime get into airdrops such as deeponion. Cant lose there.

After 25 October I think altcoins will rise because after the 25th october everyone will sell bitcoin.
we just have to wait

I bought a lot of Waves when the price was at 0.0012 each waves (around $4 by that time) and now waves is around $3,7 each one (and btc price of them is below 0.0007)
So i was in huge loss with them, that is why i decided to sell them yesterday so i bought some bitcoin with that money. I had a lot of money invested on waves, but i decided to turn to btc because it is the only one who is rising right now.
I dont know the reason of why all the altcoins are going down atm

I think that all alts will recover somewhat after the fork, perhaps not to the levels they were at previously, but certainly to close and to a level which is similar in USD when you factor in how much BTC has increased.

OP Bitcoin has done the same thing at one point or another as far as the price going down and I bet those people where saying the same thing that some of these threads popping up now are with regards to getting rid of bitcoin......

Look even some of the coins you have now are good log term investments that will be wroth probably a few dollars a coin as time progresses. Look at NEO, Dash, Walton, Ripple, ethereum......

All these coins where worth pennies at one point, just like bitcoin. One of these airdrop coins could be the next big thing for all we know. Some people someone how received about 70000 through airdrop of those ebtc and sold them at like 50 to cents each.

They will come back for sure. Do not worry. Just wait 1 month without panic, do not sell with any loss. They will come back in the first bullish altcoin trend and many people expect it for next month ;)

I'm hoping the altcoins come back up after the fork. It's too expensive to invest in btc atm.

Waves and komodo is what I'm going to buy next probably closer to the fork day

That's normal because all the volume goes back to bitcoin as people are preparing for bitcoin gol (BTG) airdrop. Just wait after the airdrop. People will dump bitcoin gold because bitcoin still what peoples want. Just hold your altcoins. Actually it's favourable to us because we can buy more cheaper altcoins in the market. But what i see in the market it's bearish for few months now. You have good coins in you bags. Don't dump them all. Bullish market will take place soon. You just need to be patient. When bitcoin is surging, the altcoins are dumping. That's how it works.

Just hold it. We all know that the value of every coin in the digital currency is unpredictable. It moves up and down oftenly. And as a member of this society you should be aware on how you could handle your coins.
So for me just hold your coin and the wait until the price of altcoin gain its value.

Alt coin going down because people who hold altcoin move their money to bitcoin. But if total marketcap is increase i guess its not pretty bad blood. I am only affraid if bitcoin increase and the total marketcap did not increas. The bllod will be more harmfull if it is happen.

If the price gets huge then the prices of many Altcoins will have a negative price compared to how it is at the moment. The price kind of varies on how many people are willing to have the coin in their wallets.

After 25 October I think altcoins will rise because after the 25th october everyone will sell bitcoin.
we just have to wait
The upcoming fork has almost everyone in this forum commenting about how the prices of altcoins will go up after Btc forking. How do they know that?

All new money in cryptomarkt is flowing into Bitcoin. Also people trade their alts for BTC these days with upcomming Fork. After this event Alts will be superior and will go up like a rocket  ;D

Once when you invest in a coin you must be patient, especially now when we all know till October 25th this situation could be worse, Panic can escalate it depends how strong is fud. Alscoins are best choice for investing, this sell of is only because of BTC fork. nothing more. This bleeding is perfect 8), learn from history!

They will go back up after BTG, people will take profits from BTC/BTG and move back in to alts.
I think this is hypothetically correct. Most of the people, wants to have the so-called bitcoin gold, that will be released later on. It is just like the time when bitcoin cash was released, you will be given the exact amount of btc you have on your account or wallet. So what people do is to buy bitcoin earlier as more as possible so that they can get a greater amount of bitcoin gold. This scheme will continue until the release of bitcoin gold.
