Title: CoinAngels.org - Investing in the future of digital currency
Post by: tronsom on June 06, 2013, 03:53:05 PM
Hi everybody,

Me and 2 other friend entrepreneurs just launched CoinAngels, an open-to-everyone incubator for digital currency related startups.
Our goal is to fund and advise as many startup teams as possible, in order to accelerate and spread the use of digital currency.
We obviously need 2 things, funds from donators & investors and fellow entrepreneurs, gurus, geeks who would like to join our community as advisors to the startup teams.

Our objectives for this initial stage is to raise funds for the following:
  • Invest in mining hardware in order to have some cash flow to cover operating costs and generate more funds to invest in Startups without the need of further investments/donations.
I personally have 6 BFLs pre ordered that I will donate to CoinAngels.
Goal: U$S 7000 to buy 1 Jupiter KNC Miner
  • Fund 2 startups so they can develop working prototypes in the next 2 months.
    Goal: U$S 10,000

Have an idea? Apply for funding.
Want to help? Join us.

What are your thoughts about our venture?

Help spread the word.

Jorge

What are your thoughts about our venture?
Seems like this:

CoinAngels is a group of entrepreneurs that has a website.

Sadly I did too  ;D
He has a point though and I guess it's just a matter of time before we become something more than a website.  ;)

Why not join BitAngels (http://www.bitangels.co/)?

We are actually thinking about that. But we'd like to have our own portfolio and funds once we approach them.

although joining forces with bitangels increases the available funds the group can share out to community /business projects. i have found that by combining into one group limits the amount of contracts/businesses it can help.

in the end i have found they end up giving more generously to a limited amount of start ups instead of helping more start ups expand.

i think more then one investment group is the way forward. that way each group can begin specialising in supporting certain niche's EG
one investment group could specialise in supporting ASICS, another can help retailers, etc etc. that way the groups are not just offering cash, but expertise aswell to insure a return on their investment.

many investment groups that have no speciality just hand out the money get the recipients to sign a legal binding contract and then simply wait for pay day to get a return.

im glad that bitangels and coin angels specialise in businesses that know and understand blockchains, but this may not be diverse enough.

great oppertunities are there and i know from first hand experience, its not always all about the money a business requires. i have helped out businesses with both funds and advice and the advise seems more appreciated then the funds. in a few scenario's businesses have repaid investments earlier as the advice ensured business growth or not requiring to spend as much, which helped both the investor and the business.

coinangels. welcome to the community, there is ALOT of potential here. good luck

yea ive worked with bitangels and its a very nice group, a little bit unorganized but they are dealing with it.

how would all the contracts work? what do you guys plan on the legal side of this?

which startups do you have so far? I run a big meetup group in miami that are full of people that want to start their own bitcoin related startup, if we can get more info I can tell them to come pitch their ideas to you guys.
