Title: [ANN] ZENITHCOIN (ZTC) by Invitation Only Early Mining
Post by: solracx on June 06, 2013, 09:21:45 PM

MINING IS NOW ACTIVE

Launch has been fair and balanced.   Early difficulty was low but it has now reached reasonable levels.    See the block explorer for details.

If you do not where to go, send email.

MINING INVITATIONS HAVE BEEN SENT.  MINING STARTS IN 2 HOURS (8:00 AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time).

P.S.  Apologies for 1 hour change.... clocks were reset yesterday evening.

ZenithCoin (www.zenithcoin.com) will commence mining on June, 9th 2013.

A new genesis block will be created with new network parameter settings.

Mining for the first 3 days will be performed by invitation only.

For the first 3 days, 98.9583333% of all coins will go to mining.

As further incentive.   Miner rewards will be 4 times the normal subsidy amount.  So instead of 24 coins per block, it will be 96 coins per block.

Please email info@zenithcoin.com prior to June, 9th 2013 to reserve your spot. Please specify your platform on the email.  Also please specify your location so I can set up appropriate seed nodes.

Binaries and mining coordinates will be provided in private to this select group on June 9th.

You can follow ZenithCoin on Twitter:  https://twitter.com/ZenithCoin  or on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/Zenithcoin

Best Regards

(original source: http://www.zenithcoin.com/?p=31 )

Alternative to email you can send me a message.

I'd throw a couple mhash at it, possibly...

But isn't this like the 3rd time you're releasing the same coin now?

Mining on the coin has yet to start.  The source code was made available for public review early this week.

A couple of miners had anticipation issues with pre-mature mining.  ;D

Can't blame them,  this coin has a lot of potential!

That is false. There is above 10.000 blocks alive forked from your block genesis, so it is the only one true and primigenian zenithCoin blockchain.  And we have got Windows Qt  client available ....

You launched it June 1st, no? Then decided a few days later that was a test and reset everything...?

June 1st was for public review of source code and to give folks time to kick the tires testing the code.    A bunch of miners were able to successfully mine up to 10,000 test blocks.  So we are pretty comfortable now with the stability of the code base.

How's that? Because someone cloned a beta version of something and called it the exact same name? That's douchebaggery.

Original blockchain is not on testNet, it is in mainNet. If you would want a test network you should to have realeased just testnet blockgenesis. Now,  your official block genesis of 1 Jun  is replicated over hundreds of nodes ... You can not deleted hundreds of blockchains in several parts or world. It is virtually impossible, and illegal.

You know, Intel usually sends out 'Engineering Samples' of their chips prior to selling them.   I heard it was illegal to sell those ES.  Anyone can verify?

What coins influence the design of ZenithCoin?

ZenithCoin is similar to Devcoin and Freicoin, however the percentage distributions are different.    The Proof of Work scheme comes from Litecoin.

Why is the 50% fixed distribution necessary?

The primary deficiency of many crypto-currencies in the market is the lack of long term stewardship of the coin.   The only incentive for developers is to pre-mine a coin (or cheat in the initial mining process) and to collect profits on the sale of the coin.   All profits are short term and typically the coin is pumped and dumped in an exchange.  There is no incentive to maintain and enhance the coin in the the long term.

THee most profitable strategy for miners is to mine a coin that has long term prospect to appreciate in value over time.  This is what most profitability calculation do not take into account.  The only way this appreciation can happen is that the developers extend considerable effort to ensure the coin has the best features and services.

Consider for a moment existing alt-coins. What guarantees have you heard from the original developers that say they will make long term improvements on the coin?

Will 50% of the mined coins be allocated only for Development purposes?

No.  The primary allocation will be devoted to Market Maker operations.   The percentage devoted for development will vary over time, however long term we expect it to get to equilibrium at 10% of the total allocation.

How is ZenithCoin similar to a Corporate Equity?

The 50% fixed distribution of coins as a result of mining operations can be thought of as similar to a corporate equity.   That is investors purchase and own equity (i.e. stocks) long term with the expectation that over time the worth of the equity appreciates in value as a result of the efforts of the corporation that issued that equity share.

How is ZenithCoin different from a Corporate Equity?

The difference with a equity is that the developers are unable to arbitrary issue more equity through equity offerings.  All coins need the participation of miners to create.

solracx is getting 50% of the coins and calls it "corporate equity"?

I call that: huge premine with another name.

solracx didn't like the fact that eagleEye removed the 50% in his compiled wallet-qt and now wants to restart the chain by calling it "a test".

I think it's better to forget this coin and the first release, solracx isn't suitable for it.

50% premine... He's nuts...

The ZenithCoin was already  taken by comunity because  incopentence of this guy (not really a dev, obviously). If anyone still interested in ZenithCoin, move to current and primigenius blockchain.

Anyway, I offer to solracx a honorific charge (not chargeback) in new ZenithCoin Revolutionary Bureau. :D.

Yes, exactly.  Coins like Devcoin (90% goes to dev) and Freicoin (80% goes to dev) are not a new concept.

This is the first coin of the same class of coins that is scrypt based.

The invite is made public and several days before launch for people to prepare.

I know you are skeptical,  but it is about time that a different kind of coin is released.

I am sorry if you don't understand English well enough.

But is has always been stated: we'll recreate the genesis block on the official mining launch  so you will will lose these test coins

lose these test coins

so you will will lose these test coins

what is about the word lose do I need to explain to you?

Definition of lose:

lose [ looz ]
1.have something taken away: to cease to possess or have something such as a job or home
2.make somebody forfeit something: to be the cause of somebody's failure to obtain, win, or maintain something
3.mislay something: to be unable to find something, often only temporarily

understand?  comprende?

These are serious questions about the future potential of this coin:

I've been watching this debacle from the beginning and I'm still stuck on the 50 kickbacks.

What's the plan with the constant kickback? What is the 50% going to be used for?

How are you protecting the 50% wallet from attacks? If you lose access to that wallet, wouldn't coin prices plummet?

To me it sounds like a coin with a big red self destruct button. If that's what you're going for, I can see it working.

But please let us know what your plan is for security of literally the life of your coin.

solracx: No matter how many times you call the other chain fake and a test or whatever else you choose to refer to it as, your relaunch will fail without community support and you most definitely don't have that right now.

At the end of the day you did launch the coin and not as a test as you like to claim. Because of your incompetence, you allowed someone else to release Windows binaries that reversed the changes you made to fleece 50% of all mining earnings for yourself.

Nobody is going to support your coin with a 50% premium being paid to the developer. You may get your little exclusive club to premine it but when you try to release it to the general public you'll just have a dead network when everyone avoids it like the plague.

It's time to face it, your coin is dead in the water in it's current form. The name is forever tainted and your aim to rip off the people who are running your network is a horrible plan, doomed to failure.

Be better informed.  Read http://www.zenithcoin.com

Dude, are you in denial or something? Not a single person has said a single good thing about this scam coin. Wake the fuck up

You don't get it do you?  Lots of folks are sick and tired of alt-coins that are nothing more than pump and dumps.

So your solution to this, is to create a coin, that you get %50 of, right off the top, and, hold an "Invite only" pre-mine? Are you retarded? Seriously, have you been tested?

Yes, exactly.  Coins like Devcoin (90% goes to dev) and Freicoin (80% goes to dev) are not a new concept.

This is the first coin of the same class of coins that is scrypt based.

The invite is made public and several days before launch for people to prepare.

I know you are skeptical,  but it is about time that a different kind of coin is released.

Both those coins, are worthless. And you didn't answer my question. Are you retarded?

Please read the FAQ http://www.zenithcoin.com/?p=46

You keep criticizing the coin and it hasn't launched yet!    There are sound economic ideas behind it as compared to other coins that have no backing whatsoever.

Looks at all those coins,  FTC, CHN, BYC, FST, BTB, .... etc.    What value do they have other than occassionaly being more profitable to mine than LTC or BTC?  Read the FAQ.

Almost every new alt-coin I look at, it looks like an investment into  a penny stock without anyone responsible for long term management of the stock and having no equity stake in the stock.  That is a joke of an investment!

DVC and FRC are all trading with higher market caps that your beloved alt-coin.  That is a fact.

FRC is the only other coin other than BTC to make a serious effort on building ASIC based rigs.   You see anyone expending any time adding value to other coins?  They are all pump and dump.

Matter of fact, the only coins worth investing are those with an equity position by developers.

Let me address questions individually since they have merit.

What's the plan with the constant kickback? What is the 50% going to be used for?

The FAQ www.zenithcoin.com addresses the use of this fund.  But the primary purpose of the fund is to continue to support development (not just technical) to create value for the coin.   This may include technical enhancement, promotions,  bounties for access to exchanges and services that create a constant revenue stream (i.e. exchange, satoshi dice etc, escrow services etc.)

How are you protecting the 50% wallet from attacks? If you lose access to that wallet, wouldn't coin prices plummet?

-> There are multiple addresses that are not necessary in one wallet.  So, there is not one wallet that can be stolen.

I haven't been trying to criticize the coin(other than the first botched launch) I'm just curious and shouldn't have to go digging for the answers since other people might have the same questions and they can be documented here.

The FAQ @ zenithcoin.com isn't immediately accessible from the homepage. I didn't even know there was one the first time I checked the site.

If you really want to jumpstart your coin, you should be giving out bounties now before everyone starts to test it again. Have people building properties that people are going to want to use.

People building for Zenith is the only thing that can show real future in the coin. The more people you have behind it, the better. I think they already started offering bounties for ZenithCoin Release 1. Why haven't you? Get your gravy train moving.

~richgene

edit: was reading the FAQ and came across this:  "One of the first enhancements to ZenithCoin will be a more advanced  block explorer. "

Really wanted to check this out but it's down. Can you tell us more about what makes this block explorer so special?

Yes, bounties will be coming.

Check the roadmap for what's coming down the pipeline.

Yes, the high priority development effort is to build a block explorer at par with blockchain.info  ....  every other coin out there has only the most rudimentary of features... this will differentiate the coin immediately.... in addition accounting of the fund coins needs to be transparent... so a clear way of viewing this is critical.

ZenithCoin is in it for the long haul.   That is the value proposition of the coin,  contribute to mining and the developers will make best effort to make the coin more valuable over time.

Invitation is open to the public,  you still got two days to make your reservation.

It already has been tested,  some folks like eagleeye and magnet were so impressed that they decided to sell the test coins!

Actually, we are looking for miners committed to the platform.  There will be real incentives for sticking as a miner ... a portion of the funds are there to provide incentives to long term miners.

This is actually a big experiment to see what kinds of incentives we can create to grow the coin faster than any other coin.  To do this, we have allocated 50% of the mining to these creative uses.

So, let me get this straight.

Not only is at invitation only, (conspiracy much?) but most of the coins will be mined by those dozen or so people? And you expect anyone else on the planet to want to buy this crap...?

That's like having an IPO for your family, ridiculous.

I mean if this is an actual joke...maybe it's (kinda) funny. Otherwise, please stop waisting our time.

And for anyone who wants to purchase some of these coins...I've got some land on the moon for sail! only $10 an acre! Act fast before the martians buy it up!

It is only 3 days of mining.

Don't overblow things.

Furthermore, the invitation is open to the public.

If you have any understanding about crypto coins, it is critically important that hash rates be secure early in the project.

This is nothing close to the 1.6 million coins mined by FTC insiders in 2 hours or the similar 2 million coins mined by PPC insiders in 10 days.   Not even close.

So either participate or remain silent.

On 5 Jun I built Windows Qt client and fixed IRC, and probably in first running blockchain was forked. Because manifest incompetence of creator, I have deactivaded 50% funds retained feature, so theres funds not will go to this original creator.

Do mot mine in it! After 2h of mining and 3 more hours past of it my balance is 0.34ZNC, and I mined with 2400khs at about 0.2 diff. I have heard of 50% stealing but this is insane!

Hope pool owner will get rich of our work! Way to go! THEFT and 4% Fee pool... Crazy!!!

I will just give me the mail... Cant find a contact on a pool. You contact the Erundook, Big Vern and also Nearmiss of scryptmining.com and Silverwolf for pools. Nearmiss and Silverwolf are smaller pools but are really nice guys and are paying honest!

This is on the pool site:  Need help ? https://hippie.hackpad.com/

Maybe you should work it out with the pool owner before calling it a scam.  With PPLNS, you should wait at least a day to see normal payment.

The pool takes a lot more confirms than a normal pool. 2 hours will probably only get you a small fraction of a coin (which, obviously, it did). Look at your Unpaid Shares vs your Paid Shares. It takes a while to confirm the unpaid shares, but it's working.

OK maybe it was to early to call it a SCAM, but here is a situation now, about 10hours after 2h of mining.

I will however try to contact the owner..

I think you should edit out your earlier post.  After all, it was your own mistake.

You called the pool a scam.  How is that not "shoot first, ask questions later"?

Hey,  Could explain this? Why are you substracting the 50% electricity of miners with these backdoor addresses?

These backdoored addresses are  hardcoded  in the wallets of these poor guys and steal the  half of coins mined  !!

ALL BLOCKS MINE ARE CHEATED!!!

The guy with address 1JrhcXxrqTdy1g5jNA9VYjxp8EPB5HKSe3 might to have 24 coins and you have cheated 12 with your backdoor hardcoded steal addresses.

In your code, backdoor address for substracting coins to miners:

Title: Re: [ANN] ZENITHCOIN (ZTC) by Invitation Only Early Mining
Post by: hippiex on June 17, 2013, 10:44:39 PM
WARNING! http://hippie.hopto.org/ seems to be a SCAM!

Crazy!!!

I am the pool owner.

I had a conversation with him where i've explained what happend.

- Unfortunately during his stay i had a problem on the pool framework and i was forced to restart.
- ZenithCoin diff was *raising* really fast (from 0.17 to 0.6)

If you guys check the pool graf, there is a big share volume (mountain ) exactly during his stay.
Reference:  http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/1998/udh.png
Thats exatcly the gap we had to re-establish the block finding process.

So, basically the mix of both situations (restart+diff increase) caused a slow down on the block finding process.

Again, it was not my fault.  My goal is to grow ... not to steal.

Best
hippie

Respect for conversation! That is the right way! However I am not returning to the pool.. Because I dont buy the excuse of bad luck. If I recall my 2400khs was the largest hashrate at the moment of mining, on low diff, and the peak payment was 0.1, thats like I mined with 200khs or something..
I am not whitdrawing my 2 coins and I hope it is used for dev pool purposes!
I appologize for calling you a scamer, obviously you just have problems with a pool. Hope you get better and attract hashrate to your pool..
Best regards!

These are solved blocks you sent me, so people can see my payments and decide for themself if this is fair:

Title: Re: [ANN] ZENITHCOIN (ZTC) by Invitation Only Early Mining

Respect for conversation! That is the right way! However I am not returning to the pool.. Because I dont buy the excuse of bad luck. If I recall my 2400khs was the largest hashrate at the moment of mining, on low diff, and the peak payment was 0.1, thats like I mined with 200khs or something..
I am not whitdrawing my 2 coins and I hope it is used for dev pool purposes!
I appologize for calling you a scamer, obviously you just have problems with a pool. Hope you get better and attract hashrate to your pool..
Best regards!

It was just bad luck.  Another miner 'steve' in mcxnow was mining at 8GHs, this raised difficulty from the teens to .73.  You can see it all in the block explorer:  http://explore.zenithcoin.com

Best of luck next time.
