Title: Mining Monero (and related altcoins) via browser
Post by: browserguy on October 16, 2017, 07:38:26 AM
Hello,

we are building an altcoin miner and mining pool for Monero,
the proof of concept is already running on a few large traffic websites.

It is similar to existing cryptonight based javascript miners, but actually about 30% more efficient,
optimizing threads and tweaking the code. It works with any compatible coins (dash to name one).

We are planning to run an ICO to fund the development and make it into
a standard for alternative profit generation that complements advertising,
evaluating different types of ETH smart contracts to eventually share
profits in the future. It will be really interesting to convert the mined Monero
automatically to take profits in the preferred coins.

We are also developing the SDK's for iOS and Android, to make
mining a viable monetization option using high powered modern smartphones.
Mining starts only during gameplay or when the smartphone is
fully charged and plugged in, if the users agree to it.
It can generate in-game currencies in exchange for some CPU power,
making it very interesting for freemium game developers that have many
downloads and don't want to flood their games with annoying advertising!

We don't plan to take a large cut as some of the few javascript generators do now,
as we believe the users' value should go to the content creators and website owners.

The browser based platform is already up and running (link coming as soon as we finish some stress tests),
and can't wait for you guys (&girls) to try it out.

What are your takes on this? Who is merely interested please comment below, we really want to get this project to skyrocket!

Honestly, this would only work if you could run this Javascript miner of yours on websites with high traffic. To elaborate, just look at TPB which has been running an XMR miner and statistics shows they make around $10,000 per month with their traffic which is completely driven by torrenters. I cannot think of a site which drives more realistic traffic that you can use this miner on and even with that, the users visiting the site will not be happy to see their CPU usage reaching heights for browsing websites.
Mining on high end phones with CPU/GPU would just be disastrous for the phone as it would cause heating issues to any phone and would reduce its lifespan. I don't think anybody who knows what mining is would be willing to allow mining given that it barely makes anything with that much of power.

You can make ICO for anything and most likely will be successful all you need is tiny bit of marketing. You project dont need to be profitable or even doable. There is way to much money want to earn fast in crypto right now.
Competition with miners will happen all the time.
