Title: wallets or exchanges supporting Bitcoin Gold?
Post by: urp0k1911 on October 16, 2017, 09:35:29 AM
Hey!

Do you know of any Bitcoin wallet or an exchange that will for sure support and give its users Bitcoin Gold tokens after the fork? I have heard Binance was planning to support BTG, but I am not sure that they will give you the BTG coins if you store your BTC there. Do any of you have a decent plan on getting Bitcoin Gold after the fork? Could you please share details here?

This is a very good question, as for example I still can't redeem some of my Bitcoin Cash coins, so it would be better not to repeat same mistakes.

The easiest way is to store bitcoins at the wallets which are able to provide private keys. Just do this and be happy :)

Some people are lazy or unwilling to move their bitcoin out of exchange because of such a huge fee, appreciate their decision.

All the information I have on bitcoingold right now, is what I read on the forum, and on their website. According to their partners, listed in their ecosystem, you have one wallet right now, that is called Guarda (and I never hear of it before), and you have two exchanges, bitStar and Yobit. I think more will follow, like it happen with bcash though.

Could you please specify. Im using Bitpay right now, and the procedure of extracting private key from it involves third party software. I can extract seed easily though. Will that do? Or there is a better option. Please be specific.

that right. we should store bitcoins at the wallets which are able to provide private keys. However, I think many people still do not know the private key, the concept of it is very refreshing to them. I think most bitcoin exchange will allow us to get bitcoin gold

We will need to wait for the announcements for the bigger exchanges, but I think not many will support bitcoin gold.
I am curious to see which wallets, if any, will support bitcoin gold.

Bitcoin Gold is a scam. Core's way of trying to create more "dividends". Looks like may have been attempted under Blockstream management. The website for bitcoin gold was registered anonymously and the only contributors to the GitHub are Core/Blockstream people.

If I can get coins for free and don't have to pay anything for it, how is it a scam? Or are they planning to dump a pile of premined coins, when BTG hits exchanges? They have different hashing mechanism so there is no hashrate shifting back and forth as was with BCH. I heard there is even replay protection being implemented. The only two ways I see it being a scam are premined coins in creators possession and phishing private keys with shady wallets.

Novaexchange not :(

2017-10-16 11:52 - Future Bitcoin forks not supported

We are NOT supporting any upcoming or future bitcoin forks. We are only running Bitcoin Core wallet and no other Bitcoin forks will be supported in the future. The Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork was a one time only fork that we supported since Ledger Nano S had support for that fork.

I will transfer my coins to yobit

Bittrex isn't a wallet it is an exchange.
You won't double your Bitcoin, you will have the same number of Bitcoin on the Bitcoin chain, and the same number of Bitcoin Gold on the Bitcoin Gold chain.

Any wallet where you have access to your private key is fine, you should be using a wallet like that anyway!

Bitcoingold is a inexperienced team. They are just advertising the fork rather than preparing from it. I don't think they'll have any value, not even close to bitcoincash.

It's going to be supported by both exchanger and wallets. In case of wallets, they will surely publish a notice to all users once they confirm supporting of it during the hard forks. So I think there is no need of predicting so early of which wallets might be there to do so. :-) Up until now yobit exchanger has already published about the support to bitcoin gold so you consider it.

I'm going to agree with it and only 1 week left but there is still no statement on how we can claim those bitcoin gold after the hard fork.

I'm thinking that nowadays hard forks are the new style of producing a new coin and instead of making their own ICO they are using forks for their sole purpose.

And that is to make money from it, but still let's wait from their team about the update of this coin.

I think most exchanges that accepted bitcoin cash will accept bitcoin gold. It's a way for them to attract more customers. It would be missed opportunity if some of them decide to not support it. You'll probably hear about it on Monday as it gets closer.

you don't need to care about which exchange or wallet will support bitcoin gold , you just keep your private key when hard folk happen

and then you automatically have bitcoin gold i think , after this you just need to find a way to send your bitcoin gold to exchange ,

when hard folk happen , you will find ways how to find out your coin,

Wallets supporting the fork are Ledger, Trezor, Electrum, Mycelium, Jaxx, Exodus, Blockchain...... that I know of
Any wallet where you control the private key basically.

After the fork, we'll be able to claim BTG Gold by downloading the new wallet and entering your Bitcoin private key..

I'd recommend not using your usual wallet for this. There are quite a few question marks surrounding Bitcoin Gold, so I'm uncomfortable about handing over my Bitcoin private key to a new/unproven team. I have temporarily parked all my Bitcoin in an Electrum Wallet for the fork, then afterwards I'll move it all back to my normal wallet..  ;D

I'd rather be safe than sorry  :) ;)

Kucoin Exchange will support Bitcoin Gold and based on the announcement below, they will split it for you.

Kucoin BCG Asset Distribution Announcement
Categories AnnouncementsOctober 9, 2017
BTC will be forking at Oct 25th, 2017 (UTC+8), the distribution shall respect the principle of Everyone-Benefits. From Oct 25th, 2017 (UTC+8), users will be acquiring BCG based on the Bitcoin holdings in Kucoin account (one Bitcoin deposit will reward one BCG. Depositing Bitcoin in advance is the prerequisite of rewarding BCG). The system will accomplish BCG distribution automatically within 3 days after the forking (before Oct 28th).
To prevent any possible rollback or replay attack, we’ll suspend the Bitcoin transfer from Oct 24th, 2017 to Oct 27th, 2017 (UTC+8). Meanwhile, to guarantee the absolute safety of user assets, it’s recommended to transfer Bitcoin into Kucoin account beforehand, in case transfer blocked by any emergency situation.
Kucoin team will evaluate BCG’s subsequent development and decide if it goes to list. Sincerely appreciate your support and understanding to Kucoin.

Looks like Binance will also support Bitcoin Gold, but you should double check with them first.

Dear All,

Binance is preparing for the upcoming potential Bitcoin fork with the following procedures:

Before the potential fork, Binance may suspend momentarily Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals.
If the hardfork happens, Binance would like to support any meaningful forks. We will decide the coin listing depending on the situation, our priority is to protect our customers funds.
If you are unsure on how to deal with the technical issues regarding the bitcoin forking, feel free to deposit your Bitcoins on Binance exchange in advance and we will handle it for you and ensure you will have all possible assets after the fork.
Thank you for your support!

Binance Team

Currently, according to my understanding, this seems to have no official and clear information at all. Maybe we will have to wait before the hard fork happens a few days or after the hardfork. However, I have received mail from yobit, they said that Bitcoin Gold balances will be added within the next 3 days and maybe it will trade soon after the fork. I'm not sure if this information is accurate, but you should keep your private key carefully, when Bitcoin Gold launches, you will use that private key to access the wallet that it supports to receive Bitcoin Gold.

Yobit are scammers.
They knew my coins were going to be swapped so they put the wallet in maintenance mode and played around with the currency.
AFTER the swap, they re-opened the wallet. By that time, I lost coins because they were no longer eligible for the swap.

There is so much bad vibes out there about their operations, I wouldn't put my bitcoins over there, if they were the ONLY exchange on the planet!

I think it's all the same as the first BCH out on the market, everyone who holds Bitcoin will get it in the exchange wallet itself, but I never expect it will exist, because I think it will not grow well in the future and everyone is still will still choose Bitcoin for its investment.

Why you want this fork will fail? The other hard fork of bitcoin with bitcoin cash seems to be effective and successful and it can happen the same with bitcoin gold. The website of bitcoin gold has been DDOS attacked so as of now they are receiving problem already. And it says
Quote from: www.btcgpu.org
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

if not, you can expect a multitude of forks!

There will be a lot of forks because there's no unity for the devs.

also the cryptocurrency market become not healthy and need a big correction!

Asking for a big correction? Don't worry it will always happen after a big pump there will be a correction after it.

All exchanges are waiting for replay protection to be implemented in this fork, until that happens they will NOT list it nor credit it. If there's no replay protection in the code, people could lose their btc when transacting with btcgold.

BTG in yobit was readily available for trading after it was received. Thats why a lot of holders there were dumping fast and just a matter of hours btg dropped really low.

What is the big deal to let exchanges trade btg while the "partners wallets" did not offer support for the coin and you neither can't claim your btg yep?

I see.. btw, have you noticed that the charts on coinmarketcap are wrong? I am sure that the highest price for BTG was above 1000$ and according to coinmarketcap it was around 500 $. Anyone knows why?

Oh okay, yeh took me a while to understand, thanks - i eventually had the developer  Bulgaria tell me what the story was, i mean for f sake, i was really relived after that cause i could not get a straight answer from somebody, really bloody ridiculous. I tested on the testnet  network, but not sure why anybody would want to anyways , if it is not rewarding, another question for another time i guess.
At least i know now how the hell to set up the zecminer for amd properly, so when its live time i will try my luck.

I had a nut tell me on the github the other day that i need to refer to readme files and build the wallet.
I am technically inclined but we not all developers and dont understand or have the tools to do such an activity.
Why cant people stop being so vague or have 1 or few word replies, ffs.

Anyone know where to get the wallet? I have exported my keys now what?

Has anyone received Bitcoin Gold already? Where did you store your BTC?

Coinomi wallet for android supports BTG and I have received my BTG tokens
although the wallet is in BETA testing so we cannot really do anything with them.

If its a fork of bitcoin then previous bitcoin addresses and private keys should work on btg.
so... "how do you have an address for btg?"
because you already do if you have a bitcoin address/pk

also.. i have a question due to all the confusion of this fork.
i do know it is equihash. i am already mining.

my question is, am i only mining on testnet or is it live?

cuase i read reports of it being live Nov 1st? so idk...

i already received bitcoin gold in yobit because i have small in that site and i still save it for half and sell when the price is in 0.2 btc because i see that moment is come. and yes i can make free money from bitcoin gold and i am waiting the next high price if there is any chance for bitcoin gold to increase. i am not yet to take a look in my coinomi wallet, maybe later i will check it and if its available then i think i will move my bitcoin gold to coinomi.

https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002320451

They will not offer trading of BTG however

This site is distributing malware. The Microsoft codesigning is fraudulent (lists briz.khamazin@yandex.ru) . The source code download is just a ZIP bomb. Do not use.

It's still not clear to me how can I get bitcoin gold from my bitcoin desktop wallet. bitcoingold.org website says it'll publish details, but nothing so far.
Did any of you tried or succeed doing it?

Simply the exchanges don't have yet implemented the deposit/withdraw BTG wallet.
Bitfinex now, you can trade but no D/W.
Binance there is the button to deposit, but it's still "suspended" by now.
I think they will be up within next days by now...
