MultibitHD still works, but it is not getting updated anymore. I would not recommend still using it though. I still have a MultibitHD wallet with a few sat in it.
Switch to electrum, it’s easy and you got more control vs. MultibitHD.

@twthmoses thank you for response. is this Electrum best desktop wallet? i am using Exodus now but i think Exodus isn't safest too.

Personally, I don't like Exodus... it doesn't let you create (and therefore test) backups until AFTER you've deposited coins... you have no control over fees... you have no way to control the installation process (cannot customise install/data directories)... and it is "closed" source.

Electrum is a solid, well known desktop wallet that is open source, lightweight and reliable. It may not look all fancy, or support altcoins, but it allows a LOT more control, has (pay per transaction) 2FA support, MultiSig support and can be used in an offline configuration for cold storage etc.

I highly recommend NOT using MBHD (or classic) both are no longer supported, and MultiBitHD will likely "break" due to an incompatibility with it's (older) BitcoinJ library choking on some newer transactions and giving the dreaded "Password did not unlock the wallet" error on startup. :-\

Tl;DR - Get Electrum ;)

It is still usable but not recommended since it won't be updated anymore, it's just an abandoned project and thus it is more prone to vulnerability.

Just remember not to use the function “empty wallet”. It will cost you a fortune. Instead empty your wallet (send to another wallet) smaller amounts at a time, and if you have time enough, push the fee way down. They will confirm in the end.
