Usually what I do when I want to keep original content intact is I edit and put in a ---- edited MM/DD/YYYY Put edited content here -=- The only issue I could see with that would be if I was running a contest or something, then I might want to reserve the first post after so that people could be confident that rules specified in first were not altered. But for most things, editing works just fine. But I don't really care, personal taste of the OP.
