Title: Placing GPU on cardboard Post by: Aperson123 on June 07, 2013, 02:08:37 PM So i have an extra 7950 that wont fit in my case so I got risers and I was wondering is it safe to place it on cardboard above my case or if there is a better way to mount it somewhere and if so on what. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0sha7gvkxe2d3hj/GPU.jpg This is the most current picture I have the white represents the out line of the box I would use and the red is the GPU before you ask the case has another I have to gpus already in the case as of now and the case is laying down flat. Box i would use is either a newegg box or the box the gigabyte 7950 came. So if you have had either you know what im talking about.

I'd definitely avoid placing this kind of device on a card board.

Paper ignites at a temperature of over 200c. Also and dont wrap a GPU in aluminum please dont put aluminum anywhere in a PC either.
