Title: Capital cost / kW ratio for industrial mining farms
Post by: VentMine on October 17, 2017, 11:00:46 PM
Hey guys, I know this is a question most big miners probably won't answer, but any insight is appreciated.

I would like to know what the ratio of Investment / kW capacity an industrial mine may cost. Just a general range would suffice. For example if a 2 MW mine cost $1,000,000 to construct, that ratio is 500 $/kW.

I know there's many facets to this, but am just trying to gauge what if my planned mine is readonable. It is about 600 $/kW.

Thanks

Nowhere near enough information - you need to list an area (city, state, country, region). Does the space exist already? Does it have enough power to supply to the hardware?

All those impact the cost.

I saw a warehouse for sale in Washington for $1,000,000, that had pre-negotiated power costs and was all setup for up to 1 MW according to the listing. In that case, seems you could install your HVAC, networking, rack, and hardware and be good to go.

Other spaces need additional wiring to support the capacity, lots of construction work, etc.
