Title: Pegging currencys/items on Ebay
Post by: FlipPro on June 26, 2011, 05:09:40 PM
What do you guys think about pegging items with an extra BTC bonus on Ebay? Aren't charge backs to paypal impossible if the customer actually receives the "penny", with shipping confirmation?

that works, or sell a USB drive with a wallet in it.

I have seen a few people doing that.

I have noticed that people seem to be more attracted to the penny ones though. What is the legality of this? Does anyone know?

I'm trying a sale now (http://cgi.ebay.com/1-US-penny-PLUS-bonus-1-Bitcoin-BTC-/320719490343?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4aac5f0d27#ht_500wt_1156).

Only 1 bid so far, at my minimum price ($14.99, I set it below market to make things happen).  I think it's hard to break into eBay sales - there is a major chicken-and-egg problem with the seller ratings.  No ratings -> no bids -> no sales -> no ratings.  I'm actually happy I at least got 1 bid; this is the first bid I've gotten in many unsuccessful attempts to sell things on eBay!

10% eBay fee + possible paypal trouble makes me not very eager to sell ANYTHING there...

I agree with you there buddy, the only reason I have a decent rating is because I have been trying to sell on there for years. I finally found the product EVERYONE wants ! :D Just gotta find a good way to sell it. I think I will be trying the penny idea, but I'm going to take it a step further by offering rare penny's.

Of course you don't your a tradehill spammer. I mean I have a tradehill account to but you don't see me spamming them all over the place. People are getting sick of seeing it. I think the reason why they go for so much more on eBay is because of the fees. The issue at hand is charge backs, and I think the sellers on eBay have come up with a way to stop them for good.

If you say no returns, and make it clear that they are bidding on this penny with btc as BONUS. There is no way they will ever get their money back from eBay/Paypal, if they try to dispute the case, especially if you get delivery confirmation on that penny (which is less than a few cents). Now if I am wrong can someone please correct me , and tell us how we can make eBay trading safer? It would help us all..

Don't trade stuff there that is against their ToS - and this includes Bitcoins unfortunately. Trying to circumvent this, would still lead to problems most likely.

Btw. it's my own business what I put in my signature, and if tradehill does something that make me want to question them (like bitcoin7 did, where I also have an account, but intentionally don't provide a reflink) it will be removed.
Kinda weird to be called "linkspammer" by someone with 2 links in her signature too btw.  ::)

My links aren't selling anyone anything. There is a ton of useful information for FREEat TweetForum. And my teeshirt site is just showing off a few creative tee shirts that I made, no one is being forced to buy anything there (and I have yet to make a dime from it). I actually plan on remaking that site since I have heard criticism about it being a cafepress site. If I do remake it it will be a bitcoin only site :) , but I have to get the money to mass print those shirts since cafepress isn't to keen on adopting bitcoin just yet.

You have a referral link that will give you 10% on commissions for the entire life that the trader is a member of TH, and that a million other people are spamming on this SAME forum. If I am not mistaking, I think that referral link was made to cater to NEW investors, not ones who were already actively trading.

See the difference ?

With a refcode you pay fewer fees on Tradehill for life - on bitcoin7 for example you don't have any additional value beyond giving someone a part of your commission, which is also a reason why I didn't include that link.

Actually you gain quite a bit (by paying less) by signing up on tradehill with a refcode - as the amount gained by me is about the same as the amount saved by others I can say that this link saved people that clicked on it and used it to sign up in total ~10 USD up till now.

You're trying to sell your forum with a link to gain visitors/posts, the difference is that posting there does not give a benefit.

Anyways, this is getting far too off-topic.

My site generates it's own traffic, and is a free service that thousands of people are already using, you have no idea what you're talking about.
And sure maybe Tradehill made their spam links a bit better by offering the "spammed one" a cut of the pyramid . Still dosen't change your trollish behavior, and spammy links. :)

Thank you, and enjoy your time at tweetforum.
