Title: How do you secure your bitcoins?
Post by: CoinChaos on October 18, 2017, 03:13:35 PM
Hello everyone,

I have been doing research on securing bitcoins in wallets and I was wondering what everyone does. I am currently using a few paper wallets. I don't really like it because its a one way street if you want them secure. I was looking at the ledger nano s and was wondering what people thought about it. How many bitcoins can it hold? should I wait for the ledger blue? any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
CoinChaos

First, you need to understand the different types of wallet. There are a variety, but here are the important ones.

Before that, you need to answer these questions: will you be trading often? Will you be using a mobile device or a PC?
It's important to know what your purpose of storing is. If you plan to just save your coins, then a cold wallet would be suggested, but if you're going to use it to do regular transactions, then a hot wallet is what you should use.

1. Bitcoin Clients
These were the pioneers of Bitcoin storages. BitcoinQt, for example was the very first wallet to be created, and was used by 'Satoshi Nakamoto' hmself.

2. Desktop wallets.
These are downloadable softwares that allows you to store Bitcoins. Very easy to access and use even when you're not connected to the internet.

3. Mobile wallets.
Basically this wallets are used to ease transactions. Security will vary in the type of service you avail from the storage provider.

4. Online wallets.
These are companies that provide storage and security in exchange for a commission when doing transactions. Most online wallets provide exchange services, as well.

5. Hardware wallets.
These are portable devices whose main purpose is to store and/or trade bitcoins.

Best solution is to buy trezor or ledger nano s and cold storage all your Bitcoins, if that is too costly for you then buy an android device, setup a wallet, take the backup of private keys and all then shut it off. Send all your bitcoins and hold.

I also feel confused about it, but maybe for me the most important way to save it is to convert it into fiat and save it in a savings account at the bank.

I think the best solution is a hardware wallet just randomly hidden somewhere in a fireproof safe or bag. Maybe your attic, basement, whatever and just leave it there.

The amount of Bitcoin ledger nano s can hold depend on the amount of Bitcoin you have :)). If you have 1 BTC it can hold 1 BTC, if you have 1000 BTC it can hold 1000 BTC :D. But for me the price of ledger nano s is a little bit high and if I buy it, the shipping fee will cost more than the price of it so I only use web wallet and off wallet of course with two-authentication factor :D

Thank you everyone for the responses. It looks like the hardware wallet is the only way to have the security and flexibility. I'm happy to hear there is no limit on the amount of coins a wallet can hold. What is the best way to get one in the US? I want to order it from https://www.ledgerwallet.com/, but I can get a better deal and faster on amazon. Is it safe to buy one from amazon?

Ofcourse the wallet can store infinite amount of coins(at least the max amount allowed on the network) if you don't like paper wallets then you can try encrypting your private keys using passwords and making a small maze or chipper so no one can ever try to even find the hints which can refer to your private keys.Or try multisign wallets.

I'm securing my bitcoins by securing my keys. I saved paper wallets in many copies in safe places. I never keep copies in computer or mobile in case they are stolen.

The best way to secure your bitcoin is Offline wallet known as a cold storage it provides the highest security saving. This not costly compared to other tool devices. It is not connected to the network with a very good protection against computer vulnerabilities.

Well, I'm not doing anything special to secure my btc. I keep mostly of my btc in offline wallet, which never been connected to online, desktop or mobile wallet. And offcourse, I'm trying to keep my private keys safely. I have saved it in several places to be guaranteed that if my device will crash, I wouldn't not loose all my btc.
Hodling btc in hardware wallet is a good idea. And on hardware wallet you can keep as many btc as you have or want to keep. Hardware, same like all other wallets doesn't have limit of btc allowed to keep.

How do you get the bitcoins transferred without compromising the offline wallet? Do you create a new offline wallet and transfer all your coins-x. X being the amount you are sending to another wallet(maybe a hot wallet). Even then you are compromised in the time you are making the transfer because your wallet that was cold is hot for a moment when you make this transfer. ???

No matter where you  store your bitcoin you still need to be extremely careful in order to avoid being hacked. make sure you do not log into your wallet in a public computer or another persons mobile phone. Use google authenticator to ensure notification before any one can gain access to your wallet.

Right now I'm using a normal wallet, Electrum in my case, but I think you are heading the right way. Buying a ledger nano or a trezor are the best options for sure. Not saying Electrum is a bad wallet, but there is always the risk of malware and keyloggers on your PC, so the seed or PK could be at risk. With those hard wallets, you should be completely safe. I need to buy one myself.

there are many ways to secure wallet but the professional security of wallet usually is not free, we have to pay for it. for example cold storage, it is offline wallet that provides you the highest security saving, or you can buy a ledger nano or a trezor.

Ledger or Trezor should be the best choice for you. You can hold thousands of bitcoin in there as long as you can still try to keep your ledger still safe and never try to do a big fault that has made your trezor or ledger will be broken. Rather than the paper wallet and it seems the hardware wallet quite interesting for me.

A good opinion and I like your opinion.
Actually to secure a bitcoin is not necessary to bother because the business world bitcoi already provides wallets for storage or storage bitcoin itself is provided a professional wallet, although not free, then have to pay and most important bitcoin we feel safe.

Currently I try to protect my bitcoins by so many ways, during last weeks I used to have an online wallet but two days ago I bought a trezor's one, because many of my friends had suggested me to use one of these to store my bitcoins because it is one of the most easiest ways to protect bitcoins. But having an online wallet is not bad as there are some of them that are very safe, like coinbase or blokchain's wallet

Keep your bitcoin in a paper wallet or an offline hardware wallet. Also spread all your bitcoins in multiple adresses and wallets with different private keys because hackers are not going to target wallets with low amount of bitcoins. They are looking for something big that worth the waste of time. Be very careful what website you acces and what programs you install on your computer and mobile phone. Even the best secure app can be dangerous in a hackers hand

Yes this is correct and true, the safest way to store your bitcoin would be in an offline hardware wallet like ledger, though I'm not sure if there is a certain limit of how much bitcoin you can store on those but that is the most safest way. And yes be very vigilant and careful of these hackers, which are targeting traders with huge amount of coins stored in their wallets.

What I do to keep my wallet secure is Blockchain Wallet. Here I hold my Private Key and it can not be opened anymore because there is one thing I need to do to verify it in my email when someone opens it to another IP address, And for that they have to steal what they need to know my email password and my private key. You've made it really hard to do it

and it's true that hardware wallets will be safer than online wallets, but there's another safe place, like if we keep bitcoins in a well-known exchange, because they'll be responsible for every bitcoin we have, even if the exchange is hit by their hack will definitely replace any losses we bear

For us. Me and my wife, we are using a hardware wallet. We transfer bitcoin to online wallets if we need it for something and put back in the  hardware  wallet for storing.  It may be tedious work but for us it is safer for us.

Here in my opinion the best option is to secure is only two .
First option is to make private key in offline ( you can get easy process about it in the Google directly )  , that private key will be 100% safe for you because that private key will be made by you in offline and no where is stored .
Second option to get a direct private key frommthe mycellium Wallet and then save that private key at a safe place ( unknown to everyone like new Google drive account , or direct print at paper ) .
Here I am using myselium Wallet currently to store 10+ btc and I didn't faced any problem yet and also I didn't heared anything wrong about mycelium . So we can trust at it easily .
Here my suggestion for you to use either of the two option that is mentioned above , but if you don't want take much tension then you can store your bitcoin in 3-4 accounts of blockchain.info Because blockchain.info is that Wallet which is offical .

Im using a hard wallet for handy and easy access security, particular trezor and ledger. I always checked my accounts and updates like one to three times per week. Hard wallet stuffs should be in a secured deposit box as possible.

Paper wallet is one of alternative and cheaper way to store safely your bitcoin but if you really want to store it safely go for your plan to buy ledger nano or trezor.
For my wallet, i usually secure it on a old computer or laptop without internet connection touch to it, without internet connection, hackers and key loggers can't compromise my own PC.
If I'm installing some new wallet that is unknown to me i always test it first to a virtual machine so that if the wallet contains virus, your pc is safe 80%

The security indeed is very important for bitcoin that we have, especially at this time bitcoin price continue to rise higher.. of course also there are be people who have malicious intent to hacking bitcoin that we have. For me personally I have used the web site for my bitcoin wallet address that I have, that was already used by many people in the country where I live.. it's "TRIV" website, which so far has proved to be safe and so far was safely from hackers.

I am one of those who do not trust on-line wallets, I am afraid that if I kept my bitcoin there chances are someone can steal it from me or maybe I might forgot my passwords that's why I always convert my bitcoin into cash. Some are using 2 way authentication others are using paper wallets. it depends on you on where do you prefer the security of your bitcoin.

i am choosing electrum than armory in both desktop and android and my desktop is not connected with internet and only connected if i want to transfer my bitcoin. so if you have a plan to installing armory on your desktop, it will be great if you don't connected with internet too to secure your bitcoin if you have huge bitcoin. but for less than 100 bitcoin, i think we can split it into several wallet and each of wallet have 2fa or something like that to give more protection to our bitcoin and our wallet.

Bitcoin is a good investment of this century. And it has a weakness too.....,it have been subject to heated debate after varies attacks on bitcoin hear are some solutions for restrict it.........
1. Use a versatile bitcoin client for the purpose of privacy and to hide the IP address that uses in bitcoin.
2.Protect your identity from public for hiding our transaction details.
3.Use an ''escrow service '' if you don't know the second party.
4.Make a backup of our virtual wallet.
5.Encrypt the user space where these files are located.
6.Always aware about two factor authentication.
7.Avoid using wallets on mobile with internet services.
8.Get rid of a virtual wallet which is no longer needed.

When I using an online bitcoin web wallet, I'm always Enabling 2-Factor-Authentication (like Google authenticator) on my account, and you should have direct control of your bitcoin private keys, if you don't have the keys, you don't control the bitcoin, and I always regularly backup my bitcoin wallet, well it's maybe complicated but it is for our own good, for the simple ways, a hardware wallet like trezor make it easier but this hardware a little bit expensive, I believe once this hardware affordable it will become the solution of bitcoin security

Bitcoin doesn't have accounts, which means you're using an online service to store Bitcoin, which means it's by definition not very secure.

Although I've posted about it before, this thread made me realize an additional security measure would be not to post any details online about how you store your Bitcoins.

Thank you,
CoinChaos
I think that desktop wallets such as armory and electrum are also secure, if you are looking for an alternative expect for hardware wallets, consider using desktop wallets. I am currently using an online wallets but I am thinking of installing armory on my desktop for extra security.
The thing which I heard about securing bitcoin is online wallets and offline wallets, yes the benefit of online wallets is that those people who secure their bitcoin but invest daily and need to take out their btc but those people who secure and save their bitcoin for a long time and do not invest daily so offline wallets valid to them.

I secured the bitcoin with ethereum wallet storage. using the private key in my opinion is safe. because the private key given very many numbers and letters that make it safe.

There are lots of bitcoin wallets but we are not pretty sure if our bitcoin will be safe there, if you find a wallet which you think is capable of securing your bitcoins, here are the two things you musnt do:
1. never let anyone knows your wallet password ( the most common tho. )
2. never log in your bitcoin wallet to any other devices such as computer or an android phone when your not the owner of any of the devices.

Back to me on how i secure my bitcoins, well i only use a wallet which is very popular in my country, the wallet that can guarantee the safety of my bitcoin and also easy to use wallet. Sometimes i also withdraw a little amount of my bitcoin in exchange of fiat money and put it in my bank account. These are my ways of securing my bitcoin or should i say my money. ;)

For securing the bitcoins Paper wallets are ok to use if you are a user with minimum transactions , but for high safety and more number of transactions purposes i always recommend people to use HARDWARE WALLET which i do also use personally. Hardware wallets are gaining massive response and the top three hardware wallets that are highly secure are TREZOR, LEDGER NANO S, and KEEP KEY.

I personally use and recommend TREZORfor bitcoins which is the best and cost you around $99. While you are talking about Ledger Nano S, it is also a great one and its a must to use if you are a multicoin user. Ledger Nano S do not store bitcoins they store the private keys to transfer the ownership and currently i cant guess the number of bitcoins but yes,
it almost store infinite number of transactions

There are many ways to secure your wallet. I suggest to put 2fa your wallet to make it totally secure and do not ever share your password and private key to anyond and put it in safe place. In addition to that, try use hardware because it help you to keep your bitcoin safe and secure.

I am not using online wallets nor saving my BTC in exchangers. I use a wallet giving me access to my private keys, and I keep my exported private keys safely in paper . So even if I lose access to my wallet I can easily import my wallet again. This is the safest method to secure our bitcoins.
There is many wallets giving you access to your private keys, like desktop wallets, hardware wallets or paper wallets.

I think most of the people are doing the same. I have accounts in different exchange and usually I use to keep my bitcoin in exchanges for different purpose. I am sure that with the passage of time the security of bitcoin will be increasing more and more.

I'm not using btc from my offline wallet. I'm just hodling it safely. If I would need these btc, I would have to compromise offline wallet - import private keys to one of the desktop or online wallet. I have Electrum wallet for my daily needs, offcourse, I don't keep very big amount btc here, some btc also stored in online wallet.

I think it is very hard. No one exactly knows how to strongly secure his bitcoin wallet, but I want to tell one thing that security should not be the problem of bitcoin holders it all about the coinbase or blockchain controllers to make sure that their security system is unbreakable and your bitcoin is in safe hands. Therefore I think people should not be panic about the security of their bitcoin wallets.

Security is the main issue for all the bitcoin holders, the service providers are trying to give their account holders the most strongest security system in the world but the hackers are also trying to reach and break their security system to hack the accounts of the customers. I think we can do nothing for the security of our bitcoin wallets. I will just suggest not investing all the money you have.

I am just using mobile wallets, this is the most efficient wallet i can have. I have a laptop, but I do not prefer using desktop wallet cause I do not bring with me my laptop always, unlike my phone, which is ome of the things I cannot go without. Its secure for me, cause I am the only one who knows the password.

Multiple wallets won't necessarily result in better overall security. If you make sure that your coins are properly stored, preferably in a hardware wallet, then nothing will happen. As long as you take care of your recovery/mnemonic seed(s), you'll always be able to access your coins, even if your hardware wallet corrupts/breaks. And why do you think hackers won't target 'low' amounts of Bitcoins? As long as it isn't dust, then it will be more than worthwhile for them. Don't forget that when wallet files aren't secured, it cost no effort to access the private keys stored inside. :)

I think the most secure solution is to keep everything in a hardware wallet and that should be hidden very well, safe box or something like that. like a huge piece of gold.

There are lots of option on which people can freely choose up on what wallet would suit them best on where they can able to see that it would be secure out our bitcoin or other coin holdings.Storing it on hardware wallets is really somehow much safer for me compared on those web wallet no matter how you say about the security been imposed by the site you dont still have the possesion of your keys which means once they ran off then you cant really retrieve your bitcoins unlike if you do have the keys you can access it anytime as long you do have the keys.

I've used Coinbase web wallet before but for now I only use Electrum cause I can keep my own privatekey which I can't when I used web wallet. Beside with Electrum I also can control the amount I wanna pay for transaction fee and with web wallet I can't do that. But it's a little bit inconvinient when I go outside without my laptop and I want to make any transaction when I use Electrum but it's ok for me :)) Maybe I'll try to keep little amount in web wallet in order to make transaction when I go out without laptop :D

No matter where you  store your bitcoin you still need to be extremely careful in order to avoid being hacked. make sure you do not log into your wallet in a public computer or another persons mobile phone. Use google authenticator to ensure notification before any one can gain access to your wallet.

This exactly. It's always a good idea to log out of your devices after every use, and set up a two step authentication process for logging in. Most apps should provide this.

How do you secure your bitcoin?
I secure my bitcoin by increasing the quality of my bitcoin wallet account password so it's harder to know, opening my bitcoin account only on my privately owned devices because it could be if we open in the cafe or elsewhere belonging to someone else they could have wore a tapper keyboard so they can have my account, often change the password of the account to further improve security, install password on android and my laptop so that not everyone can use android and my laptop and the last is use android and laptop that support fingerprint scan so that only your hand that can open your computer and can also use a good computer operating system and hold the hacker and virus for example linux.
so my advice if there is less please add. thank you

Using a hardware wallet is highly recommended because it gives high security to the coins.  Ever since I started here,  I use online wallet but when there is a problem in that certain wallet I was force to use a hardware wallet.  It was recommended to me by a friend.  Also,  I do not keep all of my bitcoins in a single wallet to avoid hackers who might be spoofing and looking for victims.

Besides from your wallet do some cash out and save it in a trusted bank that will be totally secured in case you lose your private key then you still have money in the bank.a

Well,in my case I secure my bitcoin through cashing out all my money from my wallets and then it's already a fiat so I can now deposit it in the banks and the rest I put it in a safe because no one can touch it instead of me nor open it. We don't even know what will happen in the internet connection so I prefer withdrawing because I would be glad if I already hold my cash in cold. I think many of you here also doing the same thing. This is the best method I think in securing bitcoins.

Have you actually read what I wrote? Using more than one wallet doesn't necessarily result in better overall security. Even if you use hundreds of wallets, if there is an open spot in your system (security wise), then all your wallets are at risk. If you already have a hardware wallet, because that's the impression you seem to give me, then why don't you store all your coins in there? If it's a Nano Ledger S for example, which is nowadays the best value hardware wallet to go for, you're already enjoying the highest level of security. Everything you do happens on the device itself, which means that you don't input any very precious/sensitive information on your PC or laptop. Out of interest, what hardware wallet do you use (in case you do)?

It seems to me that such tactics are little support. Most users keep their bitcoins in their wallets and hope that they will rise in price. What is the meaning to translate them into Fiat? I think it is better to store in electronic wallet with 2 factor authentication. I have never had a problem with it.

paper and hardware wallets are very strong
The security system of these wallets are too strong. The authority gives one of the best security systems in the world. So it's quiet impossible to hack a bitcoin id. We also have some duties to secure our bitcoin id. We should put a good password in our bitcoin id. We should store the password in a secured place. It's impossible to hack a bitcoin id without password. So we have to be aware about it.

Now there are new viruses that do not crack passwords. Was a virus Petya today I read that there is a new virus Bad Rabit. They encrypt your data and for decoding extort money. It makes a risky way of storing your coins offline on the computer. It seems to me that the safest way is e-wallets. Only we must not forget about their own safety.

Now that the price of bitcoin has reached another peak price, hackers will be more eager to find a way to steal money. The security of our wallets is our main concern. Aside from the security of our wallets which we are unsure, we can also apply a strategy of our own. For example is not storing all of our bitcoins in a single wallet, wallets that has high amount if bitcoin aren the most attractive wallets for them.

Earning bitcoin is fun, exciting and useful but of course we have to consider that there are people like hackers who would not care about your hardship in saving that money.

Yes it is the best way to do to secure your bitcoin so that it wont be affected on the change in value every seconds. Beside from it you can also secure your bitcoin in different trusted wallet that can hold bitcoin. Be careful on the wallet that you are going to used because some wallet arr scammas like what all people are saying. Also make sure that you have of copies of your password or key password for the safetiness of your bitcoin there.

I did opposite from that, I decided to keep my money in bitcoins, not in my bank account, bitcoins will worth
more in the future and I can make some good profit on top of my invested money, in the bank I am on the same.
My choice is Electrum wallet. There is many others, the best I saw are Trezor and Ledger, nice wallets but
I still do not have so big amounts to pay for an extra protection. I made a research before I chose Electrum,
online wallets like Blockchain, Xapo and couple others are decent to keep there some little amounts, and to
use this wallets for daily use. If you wish to have a lot of bitcoins, pay for extra protection and buy some
good Ledger wallet.

I secure my bitcoin by using different trusted wallet and by keeping its key. Because that key is the only thing that I can used to recover it whenever theres a problem on it. Yes its also good to convert it into fiat currency because you have full assurance here for your money. If wont be affected of the volatility of bitcoin. For me these two was the best thing to do for the safetiness of my bitcoin.

I use paper wallets only to ensure security. I store hard copies of the private keys in several secure locations so I won’t lose them. I don’t trust online wallets, my computer hard drive, or exchanges.

I also avoid keeping that information on disks or thumb drives because data can get erased or corrupted. The best place to keep the private keys is in a safe deposit box and in a safe or fire safe. Don’t let anyone have access to it.

if you want to securely store bitcoins, make sure your private key is also placed in a safe place, and do not let anyone else your private key, and also you have to be careful on the link that is not to you, do not just click this link, so your wallet account got hacked for doing that

I'm not sure what you mean by e- wallets, something like Trezor I assume? Trezor isn't any safer than cold storage. Trezor also requires an investment whilst cold storage is free to use. Offline wallets are safe if you follow the directions correctly. There's no way any hacker can access the private key as long as you follow the instructions correctly.

Trezor is decent for people who are neglecting security and do not want to go through the process of securing their wallet themselves and just want "plug and play"

How many bitcoins can it hold? should I wait for the ledger blue? any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

For me in securing my bitcoin i would rather choose those wallet where everyone trusted. A wallet that there is no record about scamming and hacking. These are the factor in considering that a wallet is really secured.

There is no way to keep absolute safety bitcoin everything is at risk. You can store it in the hard drive which is the safest way for your bitcoin.

By saving in my wallet in my smartphone and it is also secured with private keys. It is the best way to save and invest money came from bitcoin by the way you also easily get cash out your money from your wallet. And we able to rid in the hand of hackers against to our wallet. Wallet is very important to us by working in bitcoin to see how much our savings.

Just be careful saving your private keys in your smartphones. What will happened if you lost your phone or have been stolen? or you accidentally reset it? I've seen thread happening this scenario to them so be careful as well. Paper wallet or hardware wallet is good for long term holding. Core and Electrum for daily purposed use like doing trading, receiving signature campaign payments and other daily transaction needs.

I also feel confused about it, but maybe for me the most important way to save it is to convert it into fiat and save it in a savings account at the bank.
That's a good one if you want to secure your money, but your money in the bank don't grow, why not try using Hardware wallet example Ledger or Trezor to secure and also your bitcoin value is geting higher.

There is no way to keep absolute safety bitcoin everything is at risk. You can store it in the hard drive which is the safest way for your bitcoin.
Yes i agree with you, everything is at risk. And like what you said Hard wallet is the safest and secure i've already know.

I store my bitcoin on bittrex. Although it is not a safe way to save my coin, I have to do that in order to trade bitcoin into other coin or USDT. When news comes out, the price of bitcoin will be dumped or bumped very hard. I need to act quickly in order to earn some extra money from the news. Therefore, keeping money on bittrex will help me to earn extra income whenever there is a big news to bitcoin. Before I use bittrex, Electrum was my number one choice because it is fast and useful

If you really want to put your money in an exchange then you need to make sure that you are just putting the amount of bitcoin that you afford to lose because when something goes wrong then you will not regret a lot and you can still move forward with the incident. If you have for example, 3 bitcoins then you can store at least 1 bitcoin in bittex and the other remaining which is 2 will be deposited into electrum for safe storage.

In my point of view, using more than one bitcoin wallet and changing the wallet address on a regular basis could be a good way of security. There are hundreds of wallets out there on the internet , waiting to secure our bitcoins, one can easily use some of them, and changing the wallet address from time to time is a great way of security

The only thing I know to secure my bitcoins is through the hardware wallet, paper wallet, and online wallet here only I know to secure my bitcoin and keep passwords and do not let the unknown and should read in their posts and do not trust the person who offers the account to see people first and we should be careful because when your accounts are hacked and only our difficulties are wasted.

This.

Note that CD roms better archival storage than thumbdrives and disks.

Best solution is to buy trezor or ledger nano s and cold storage all your Bitcoins, if that is too costly for you then buy an android device, setup a wallet, take the backup of private keys and all then shut it off. Send all your bitcoins and hold.
A good opinion and I agree with your opinion.
How to pick up bitcoin we do have to buy trezor or ledger nano s and cold storage and also a wallet setup to secure bitcoin.

I think for securing, one should keep them in bitcoins wallet.  And should keep these precautions in mind. That
Be careful with online services.Small amounts for everyday uses. ...Backup your wallet. ...Encrypt your wallet. ...Offline wallet for savings. ...Keep your software up to date. Multi-signature to protect against theft. And for securing bitcoin one should follow these things.  Because bitcoin stored in bitcoins wallet.

Managing or securing wallets is one of the skills you need to have in this kind of industry. You need to secure your wallet by hiding its private key. You should have a wallet that have private keys.

I think the best and safest way of storing bitcoin that we have is to store it in a wallet that has a private key. Private key is the main gateway to access our wallet so that when we have a private key and make sure no one else knows our private key then we can make sure our wallet account is safe. Oh yes there is one more to note, offline wallet is one option, if you want to store bitcoin very safely then the offline wallet and private key is the safest. One of them is you can use wallet offline electrum. I am very confident that you will like and use it very well.

this is too secure  ;D but this is a good idea so only us that will know where is the wallet if the wallet is a hardware wallet. i think he can feel safe when he using few paper wallet and he can safe it into the safest place like you said. but i am prefer with the ledger nano or trezor. i think if he have more than 3 btc, he can save it into the ledger and if he want, he can wait for the ledger blue.

why should it be so complicated dude? in fact I only use online wallet for 4 years and I never experienced bitcoin theft. the key is just one. add sms verify authentication to your account before login and make sure that you have different password between email password and wallet account password. I used that trick (very simple) and I never experienced bitcoin theft

Sign transaction offline.
Move txn to online system.
Broadcast it.

That's what I've been doing for years or if it's small amounts Google Authenticator 2FA, just avoid all SMS/phone number 2FA schemes, that is easy to fake and how businesses get their domains hijacked routinely when some guy spoofs their SMS recovery and logs into their gmail, then changes their domain (or in OP's case, steals all the coins).

To me I'm sure my bitcoins are in online wallets and Hardware wallets because of this I know that my bitcoins are more secure and do not wipe out and my passwords in accounts should not be spoken to strangers because so many now scammers who offer big money but they have hacked your accounts. And we should safeguard our accounts because our only oppression is only to be hacked.

Hardware wallet is the best one to secure your bitcoin, you could assure yourself that your bitcoin is in the safe place unlike if you are going to store it on those web wallets out there which are too vulnerable for me to the hackers, just a little trick and if they got your private key, then you are finished, all of your bitcoin, gone, in an instant.

Currently, I used an e-wallet called coins.ph app. Here in this app is where I put my BTC. And as for my way of securing my e-wallet, I do constantly change my e-wallet password every now and then. In this way, hackers will have atleast a little chance of hacking my hard earned BTC because of my constant change of password. But that can also confuse the user, if he/she can't remember that well.

That is the best way to secure your bitcoin is to store it with a high security like the hardware wallet or paper wallet. Security of our bitcoins is the most important in this world of cryptocurrency because your money is one of the most important thing in this world so it is better to spend some money in hardware wallet rather than trusting online wallets.

while selecting bitcoin wallets you need to make sure whether that wallet is secure as online wallets and exchanges will tend to lose your wallets so it is better to choose any offline wallets like paper wallets, hardware wallets such as trezor or USB wallets, the bitcoin network provides good levels of security and transparency if used correctly by choosing  the right wallets, then you will have freedom of financial use this bitcoin protocol at anytime anywhere without the worry of losing your bitcoins. Online wallets and exchanges are not secure enough as hackers can hack them very easily and there is no insurance of getting your bitcoins always use a two factor authentication when using exchanges. If you find paper difficult to handle then you can go for Trezor and USB wallets.

Like a physical wallet where you can keep your money, cryptocurrency wallets can be on your desktop, in the cloud, or as
an app on your phone. To log into your wallet you will need a username and password. Let's say you have an Ethereum wallet. Your wallet needs a way to communicate with the Ethereum network. The best way to think about that communication is to think about sending an email. Just like an email you need some kind of software to send the email. That’s where your wallet comes in. Same to an email, you can give your public address. There is a second part to your wallet and this is your private key. All someone needs to know to send you money is your public address. The one thing you should never share is your private key. If someone gets access to your private key, they could steal all your coins.

Store your bitcoins in your hardware wallet online or offline. All your bitcoins in some addresses and wallets with different private keys because hackers will not target wallets with low bitcoin counts. They are looking for something big that is worth wasting time. Be careful with the websites you access and what programs you install on your computer and phone. Even the best safe applications can be dangerous in the hands of hackers. 8)

This is a very common method being used by many of us to save our Bitcoins. The use of online wallets has become a common method for the reason that we do believe in it. But I personally do not feel secure the keeping them in the online wallets. This is because I think that the method is quite vulnerable to a hacking and some other issues which can lead to a major loss.  I preferably believe in the Bitcoin exchanges that offer you a greater level of security needed.
