Title: USA EXCHANGE
Post by: klamathonsite on June 26, 2011, 06:01:18 PM
Is there a USA Exchange for bitcoins yet?

If not how hard would it be to set one up?

Thanks

Legally you would probably need a Money Transmitter license in all 50 states. It would cost you several million dollars in fees to legally set up.

I believe tradehill would be what you are looking for.
I think campbx is going to be a new one from a thread I just read as well.

TradeHill is based out of Chile.

I think campbx is going to be a new one from a thread I just read as well.

Their site says they are a company out of Atlanta.  I don't see any FBN/DBA or company name registered for Camp BX yet but at the same time they aren't yet open so that's no reason to doubt that.

Also,
These are markets (trades occur when there is a match between bids and asks)
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ExchangeBitcoins.com Registered LLC in California
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin2Cash Registered in Alabama

There are other fixed-rate exchanges (i.e., price is relative to price on a market elsewhere) in the U.S.:
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Morpheus (apparently Reston, VA)
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Cashout Registered LLC in Florida
  - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BitcoinExchange_Services (apparently in Miami, FL)

You might find a local trader in the U.S.

Yea you are right, I forgot because their bank is BOA in N carolina and they have an office in Oregon. (for USD at least)
So I was thinking they were based in the states.

Camp BX is coming soon and looks to want to comply, it will be interesting to see how that goes.

Exchangebitcoins.com has a very simple, sensible interface.  It's the only one that doesn't appear sloppy.
