Title: ERC 20 wallet
Post by: Cartessa on October 19, 2017, 01:31:03 PM
I'm fairly new to all of this and I need to set up a ERC-20 FRIENDLY wallet. My understanding is myetherwallet is widely used and recommended. For some reason it does not work properly for me, the site only partially comes up. Has anyone else had this issue or is their another one to recommend. I have ordered a Nano S hard wallet too.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What issue are you getting with MEW? You can always get help through their email at support@myetherwallet.co

Other than that, you may also use Parity[1] and Mist[2] for PC, or imToken[3] for Android/iOS.

[2] https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases
[3] https://token.im/

I am not sure but you cant use Nano S for all ERC20 tokens. They dont support all of these coins.
Can you check your address from https://ethplorer.io/ ?
This website shows every ERC20 coins that you have.

Weird that MEW wont work for you on the get go. However when your Nano S comes in you can start to use it then and it should work 100% proper. If I understand correct it wont support all erc20 tokens but a vast majority.

For me, myetherwallet has been the most reliable. Since you're getting those issues, contact them

I think this is not a problem with browsers, maybe this is all just a mistake on the site they access, maybe this is only temporary, so wait until everything is completely normal, or maybe their internet network problem so only part of it can be opened.

Even with a slow internet connection it will load. The website dont have to much on it.
Can I ask the OP what browser are you using?
Even with my android I can open it with a slow data connection.
There must be something that is blocking the website.
One more thing be careful with the fake sites of myetherwallet.
Be sure you type it right or you google it first.
Also look at the lock icon near the uRL.

I've been using MEW everyday using JSON FILE for signing in. kindly check the link before putting your private key on it.

Check your browser or your internet connection maybe some web objects aren't fully loaded enough and you can't view the whole page.

I think you should just ensure that you are accessing the right website www.myetherwallet.com (http://www.myetherwallet.com), ever since I have started using it, I havent encountered the issues you are currently experiencing, from my side it works just fine, I can recommend it.

You might as well consider meta mask extension, but it might be a bit confusing for some one who is fairly new since you are required to add tokens manually, probably you might find it interesting.

Wow! Thanks for all the insight. I have tried from 2 diff laptops that have 2 diff operating systems.  I've tried in the past clearing history,  cookies, changing settings etc. Ive even been on different ISP as well. I may try one of the other sites suggested. My nano should arrive tomorrow hopefully when I set that up it will help determine if I do need to use a "myetherwallet" or not for any ERC20 I am looking into.
I prefer not to do it on an Android bc of having to print out anything.
I'll try and email mew since it seems that they are helpful.
Thanks again for the input so far.     :)

What do you mean by the website only partially shows up? Have you tried to access the website later in the day?
You could use a desktop wallet instead.

The best wallet for ERC20 tokens is MyEtherwallet so far, or just a Trezor wallet who allows you to hold most of those erc20 coins, but i dont know if trezor does accept ico's tokens, maybe i should do a better research about this. But i have been using myetherwallet to store all my altcoins and it works perfectly, you can manage all of them only by one click, and their security is brilliant, you can do everything through your dashboard and even to check your total entire balance at once.

Use Myetherwallet. There is no need to worry about anything. We know who made it, we don't see any harm from it.

I use only myetherumwallet for erc20 tokens, i think is the best because the most of us using it.

I agree mate, this wallet has greater advantage than any other type of wallets because it has already an optional downloadable key store file back-up. The private key has a safety features which cannot be hacked by any possible attacker. ERC20 tokens is certainly capable to view with that's why it's having more ethereum contracts right now, and I recommend using this rather that any other wallets for incoming eth ICO's to launch.
