I would say Bitcoin is the best altcoin to trade because it has the liquidity needed. You don't want to be trading something that has low liquidity (like most altcoins) and be left holding a bag that no one wants to buy.

Of course, I think trading in general is like gambling for most people, you need a ton of experience, and even top traders lose money.

My advice is that you get a job and buy and hold bitcoin, and do only calculated trades. Daytrading will lead to loses in most cases.

Go for coins that have low volume. Since you are new from the scratch, you don't need to undergo serious trade at the moment. You must learn and familiarize how trading works before going on actual trade. Don't worry it will not consume your time much and you can start live trades thereafter.

Try to play with the non serious trading experience at Yobit. There are low volumes coins there which is obviously as cheap compare to 1 pc. regular candy. You must be familiar on the exchange itself.

For a newbie the best is hold the majority of BTC, and if you want to trade start with a very small % . The probability to loose is high so i would advice to set a TARGET. Ready and see where you believe to see BTC in a while. If for any FUD BTC drops 1000$ it´s not hard for you to panic sell. It happens every day. So set your entry poit and imagine where you see BTC in a while. Then play a while but don´t sell it at a loss. HOLD

If it just for fun you can just buy a very cheap coin but with some volume /trade so you feel you have more quantity to play around. And just go ahead. With cents or feww dollars one can play and get to know the exchanges.

Study the coin. it must have good developers, whitepaper, roadmap and target market.

Then risk only what you can afford to lose and dont put your eggs in one basket.

Good luck

To be honest , short term trading is risky ( especially for beginners who don't have enough experience) , I advise you to learn first trading technics , and when you are well knowledged, you can start trading.
If you want to start trading small amounts of altcoins , go to altcoins section , post your issue , experts there will surely guide you .
Good luck

Well being  a newbie, i always recommend to go for bitcoin, because bitcoin have high average trade volume than all the other coins in the crypto market that makes it more volatile and more liquid in the cyrpto currency exchanges. There are few more coins that comes next to bitcoin like Ethereum, Litecoin, Neocoin, Dash, and Zcash. Which can also be traded in good way, but i will recommend you to go and experienced with bitcoins first and then try those other coins. And other than above mentioned coins, other altcoin are not suitable for beginner's and you should trade them only after you gain one year of experience .

Yep, don't dive completely into altcoins and if you decide to buy alts, do some research on which coins have really something to add to the cryptosphere. Don't get fooled by threads in the Altcoin sections like "which alts are worth buying". People answering over there are shilling for coins they possess in 99% of cases. Got burned myself pretty severely earlier this year when executing a trade based on the 'advice' of someone else.

Beginners in trading always ask this question, because they fear to choose the right coins. I always recommend beginner trader to go with bitcoins,as they are number one in the crypto currency market. Bitcoin also have good volume, high volatility and strong momentum to make it good option for beginner trader's. Apart from bitcoin you can go with Ethereum and litecoin. These three are best suited for beginner's. In Trading, make sure that you are passionate about trading and you are serious about making money through crypto trading and also see that you educate yourself and work hard for it.

Perhaps, it is better to participate in some Baunty campaigns. You will learn if this coin is good or bad. At least you will have a  seed capital to start trading this coin or any other.

Trading is not an easy job or business for someone who don't have the prerequisite or technical knowhow to just venture his or her money into, because of testimony from many people around saying trading is a lucrative business. Although, it is a lucrative business for those who have good knowledge of both technical analysis with the use of candle stick and fundamental issue. But notwithstanding, i will recommend buying bitcoin and hold for long period of time instead of altcoins.

Op before you put in your money into trading crypto currency, you need to have it at the back of mind that there is high risk in trading crypto currency because of its volatility nature which will need you to learn more of technical and fundamental analysis to enable you succeed in trading. And since you are still in trading crypto currency recommending altcoins for you at this level will be disastrous to your investment. So, I will recommend that you should buy Bitcoin and hold for a period of time pending when its value reaches your take profit before you sell.

All crypto are the best it is up to you which coins you will choose to hold and if you really wanna know what im using is i always go for the ico and ethereum since ethereum is giving me so much profit when it comes to pumping it. I advice you to learn more about crypto first before engaging your self into trading for you to not to lose your money.

For the best crypto you can try to choose those already developed the product but still has very low marketcap comparing with the product itself. Just like EIDOO token that already built the very useful app that will be the future platform. I think that you must try to see that. The marketcap is very low and the next week that will be added into the biggest exchange site.

I don't rate that advice in the slightest. No one can learn anything from low volume coins as anyone can do anything to them at any time. Their movements are basically meaningless.

Total noobs shouldn't have anything to do with trading. All they'll do is hand their money over to better traders. They're better off buying and holding and spending time observing.

There are also test trading platforms like this - https://testnet.bitmex.com

everybody keep asking about which one is the best ?
of course the best cryptocurrency so far and until the end will be Bitcoin,
as a beginner trader in cryptoland,it's recommended to trade the Bitcoin itself other than altcoin or other cryptocurrency.
altcoin is not really recommended because it's very very easy to get manipulated by peoples,
even though Bitcoin also can be manipulated, but comparing to others.it's more stable and predictable,
because it's the value and the goal of altcoin itself, people will not dump it so hard because if the price is crashing,
ever altcoin will be worthless and nobody will trade it in the future.
so,try to avoid altcoin and just buy Bitcoin for now.

There are no pennies that can make get you profit and newbie. I advise you to buy high value coins such as ETH, ETC, ZEN, BTC because this is the most potential altcoin today.

before you even start trading with cryptocurrencies, I'd say you start trading with FIAT currencies. In general and in simple term, cryptocoins are very "dangerous" in the sense that their total value at the moment is not very high (their market capitalization) which means that relatively low buy/sell orders will increase/decrease the price of the currencies by a lot (that is volatility) and that means that trading becomes extra difficult, as you each and every decisions you take (buy or sell) is multiplied by a hundred fold. FIAT currencies (these are the FX markets, or the USD, EUR etc.) are much less volatile and you have many more chances and space to make errors (which is important if you just started trading), without using any leverage or margin account, you can feel relatively safe that you won't lose much money. If from the other hand I can't make your mind change about trading crypto's, go for BTC, as it's the currency with the highest market cap and most volume, which if you consider the rest of the currencies is considered "safer" to trade.

Bitcoin was always best coin for beginners. If you want to get profits in a short period of time out of your investment, then you should start with bitcoin.
It doesn't matter how large or small is your investment, even a little afford improves your experience.
Being truthful, i had started with satoshis at beginning.

I think it depends on what your goal is. If you want to want to get a very high return on investment and don't mind high risk, then do some research and invest in a currency with a low market capacity. On the other side if your looking for a steady return on investment, then invest in a well established currency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Title: Re: What is the best coin for beginners to start trading?

You won't make more profits by trading, versus "buy and hold". I mean, you COULD earn more, but it'd be luck only ! Or i'd be you, manipulating the market, or something like that. There's no "free profits", everything has a price.

So, if you still wanna trade, you could choose any altcoin. It all comes down to which trading technique you're applying: for example, you could buy under-valued good altcoins, and wait for the prices to go up. Or, you could short-sell some over-valued crapcoin and rip-off money from the guys that invested in it in the first place :D

You can't always short-sell an altcoin, only if your trading platform allows it.

Anyway, as some people said prior to me, don't trade on low-liquidity alts, unless you're really, really sure that it'll improve over time. You need reasons to think so, not just a "good feel" or else you will just get ripped off, like any other ^^"

Beware, my friend ! :)

I would start with really low cost cryptos like rain, ripple, NEM or MobileGo just to get your engine started without being afraid of losing too much. Once you get more comfortable with the idea, you can move on to ICOs and then work your way up to presales. make sure you join their slack/telegram if you want to stay updated.

The best way to kick start would always be Bitcoin to gain a decent understanding of how the trading platform you are using works. With most currencies though its about the long game for me, although it can be a volatile market. Be smart with your money and trade on what your willing to lose

In order to learn to trade cryptocurrency I recommend you start with a demo account. You'll never get anything but nothing to lose. When you feel the strength to trading real currencies, you can try bitcoin and Ethereum. Those currencies which forgive novice mistakes. If you buy these coins at a bad period before they are cheaper you will not lose anything. You only will need to wait until they rise in price. When you will be able to analyze the situation can add new coins.

Exactly if you have finally decided to get into this field and earn money, then why start with such slow and lazy coins. Yes it is right that they are somehow easily affordable and cheap price coins but don’t you think they are of no use. Like you said, if you are making choices, then go for ETH and LTC they are better options of altcoins. Still depend on you who much they are easy for you.

I think it would be better if they would start with Etherium since ETH can be earned from campaigns which most of the people here are into. Most of the campaigns are ETH-based so, the chance of earning ETH in every campaign is big. And also, they will already earn profit from storing ETH since its value is increasing. Bitcoin is also a good option but I prefer Etherium.

For beginners, it is necessary, in my opinion, to start trading with well-known coins, such as ethereum, monero, litecoin, ripple and others. They definitely will not drop in the course in the long term and therefore the risk will be the least. And it is necessary to start with small amounts and trade in several coins. Other, little-known coins can be traded after acquiring certain trading skills and after studying the market and the behavior of specific coins.

Welcome to the world crypto bro, where sanity gets broken every market crash lol. I suggest you start with the top coins with high volume so you can see market movement. The current market is full of pumps and dumps and market manipulators so it's best to spot it out as you can get rekt in such schemes.

I'm also stressing out that you start with a low capital first to test the waters, or better yet start free. If you scout bitcoin talk, there are literally dozens of "airdrops" or coins given freely (of course there's a catch at some point) that you can start trading in the market once it hits an exchange. You can take a look at DeepOnion, currently at round 14-15 of the airdrops. It's a good coin with a large community, solid dev and it's now being traded actively at Nova Exchange. if you help them out spread the usage and adaptation of the coin, you can apply for the airdrop, get some coins and try to trade a small portion of it for practice.

The best I think is Bitcoin. There are lots of ways to earn Bitcoin, moreover in Campaigns. Campaigns doesn't require a capital which is an advantage for beginers and newbies.Trading is somewhat complicated for newcomers, maybe further study and observations will be necesarry before engaging into it. Having Bitcoin will be a good start, I think.

In my opinion to trade altcoin that has big volume and market cap like ETH, DASH,  LTC, XMR and WAVES is good option because the risk will be lower than others.  Trading in these altcoin indeed not promising profit by 100% a day but the risk also lower than others coin.  Just take profit between 5%-15% so that keep consistent profit.

Bitcoin is the safest bet when it comes to cryptos which too has huge volatility. Once you step ahead of Bitcoin, you need to be quick with your decisions by reading charts and analyzing market. At least in long run Bitcoin has been bullish and I can guarantee that if you invest in Bitcoin today, you ll have decent profit by next 1 year. But you might get only 4x-5x profit with bitcoin in a year where altcoins can generate 10x+ profit in some days to months only. But there is a huge risk involved.

So, what I advise is that keep 70%-80% of your portfolio in Bitcoin only for the start and invest other 30%-20% in altcoins with many coins and less investment per coin. Include some large, medium, small cap coins along woth ICO tokens and then analyze the growth and profit. With time you'll get confident, then slightly decrease your Bitcoin holdings to 50% and put other half in altcoins.

As you are new in cryptocurrency trading so it is advisable to you first try virtual trading. you buy and sell different coins virtually by that you will understand the nature of market, your decision and your luck in this market. as short term trading is a gambling.
you may try the front line coin for trading like BTC,ETH,LTC,WAVE etc.

I'm just looking for coins that have big names like bitcoin, ethereum and ripple.
Because when I was new, I still did not dare to take risks and not really understand the world of trading. So I just play it safe and try to find instant profit.
I think coins like bitcoin and ethereum is perfect for you.
When we have enough knowledge and experience, then we can try to find new coins and invest.

The best crypto for beginners to start with would be none other than Bitcoin itself, if you know the value of bitcoin then the rest of the altcoins would just be easy for you to trade with. Because when I first started trading, Bitcoin was the very first coin I traded with and learned a lot from it.

Trading is not predictable. You cannot expect anyone to tell their coins for trading. They have their own strategies and when the time comes they may change their coins and jump to another. It is up to you to decide which coin is better for you. Do some research.

Bitcoin or Ethereum are probably the best no brainers to start with. OMG should also be relatively safe. If you are super new I would be cautious when it comes to ICOs, do not rely on Google search for any type of research as its mostly paid listings of scammy coins.

I think one name that has created waves recently is Electroneum, if anyone got ANY doubt, just do some research and they will how popular they have become and they are rated as the NEXT Bitcoin/Ethereum type. I don’t know how much it will be correct, but IF there is any ICO worth investing, I bet my house on this one! It will really rock the industry once it hits the exchanges, so don’t get left behind and join here https://my.electroneum.com/join/B8B96E

Traders don´t pick a single coin, they buy whatever they think will pump. It´s risky (more in the crypto market) and you can loose if you don´t know to read the market signals like experts do.

All the altcoins are low right now, don't put all your eggs in one basket spread your money around 4-5 different coins. Ones i would recommend right now are : NAV, BAT, GBYTE, SALT, OMG, CTR. all of those are undervalued right now and will bring you a good return in 1-2months time. Good luck in your trading.

The best crypto for beginners to start with would be none other than Bitcoin itself, if you know the value of bitcoin then the rest of the altcoins would just be easy for you to trade with. Because when I first started trading, Bitcoin was the very first coin I traded with and learned a lot from it.

I agree. Bitcoin is the safest bet here, the price is increasing and even you're a day trader you can profit here but of course it's better to hold it for a while then sell when it pumps. As a beginner it's risky to trade alts as you don't know the market of it while trading bitcoin is more or less complicated. Just go with alts when you have some experience.

I would say about any coin with big volume and liquidity in exchanges is good for day trading. Any of the coins in the top 20 or even top 50 are tradable. Buy the dips and sell higher. Rinse and repeat.

For a beginner I would recommend sticking with coins in the top-10.  Its a volatile market that one doesn't understand at the beginning.  As a beginner I bought a lot of Siacoin because I thought it was the greatest thing ever and destined for huge increases.  I thought that since I was somewhat experienced in stocks that I would just get it but I didn't.  Siacoin is not doing well.  Luckily I was smart enough not to dump a bunch into it so its no biggie.  The coins that I bought as a newbie that are doing the best are the ones that were in the top-5.  Now that I have been around for a little bit I can now better evaluate coins for what actually works in the cryptoverse.  There are definitely small cap coins that will boom but newbies don't know what to look for in successful coins.

tl;dr - start with the proven coins in the top-10 before experimenting with lower cap coins.

I think the best way to get started is to invest in the coins that you can understand the best. That is, the coins that you can find the most information on. Bitcoin has the biggest following and most data/price history therefore I think it's a logical starting point for everyone before moving into alts.

Yup doing homework first is the best thing to do because without learning about trading will led toward the loss and a lot of material is available online as well as on youtube from which one can get maximum benefits and when all the things are done see the market critics and after that invest into the most profitable coin in which you can make money faster and that is bitcoin so learn and invest into it.

Here for the learning about trading, it's good to start with low value assets and then after learning to certain extent can move further on different assets.

For beginners I always recommend to start trading bitcoin, because this is the most famous coin, also in the public press and considering the past you can not make much wrong except selling at the wrong time. But as you can see in the history chart, it finally always continued to increase.

The selection for altcoin trading is meanwhile very huge and if you are not familiar with this topic you can easily catch the wrong coins and you can be rest assured that there is a lot of scrap available!

Depends on what kind of trading you want to be involved in. Long term / short term / day trading etc ...

There are many strategies one can follow. Whatever you do, be very careful and with strict money management.

In the longer term space, I believe it makes sense to have a small portfolio with different sectors represented. I focus on energy and healthcare generally.

Instead of keeping bitcoin as holding you can invest in high potential coins.

Determining what path you would like to take in your trading adventures is very difficult to start. I suggest you to check out Whale Club it's a nice place wherein you could ask more questions and learn technique use by other bitcoin traders. If you trade only the top 3 or so coins (that is Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin), or GBTC, then the chances of losing everything overnight are slim (not impossible, but slim). Other cryptocurrencies are more risky.

The best coin for trading is Bitcoin itself as it is keeping on increasing in price daily. It is getting more fame nowadays which is why many huge investors are investing into BTC. The usage of Blockchain in the industry is driving many large companies to invest into crypto currency and increasing the overall market cap. You should try to save money and invest in BTC and try to earn BTC as well. Other than BTC, i would suggest you to buy ETH, NEO and OMG as I think these coins will give a huge return in future. Just buy them and hold around 3-5 years and you should get a very good profit from these.

Of course Bitcoin is the best of choice, Ethereum too. If you have a lot of money then invest to bitcoin and ethereum is safe but if you just have a little money then you should invest to altcoin, why? Invest to altcoin is risk which can bring big profit if you are lucky and choose right altcoin
Example: you have $1000 and you invested to Bitcoin on june, 2017 when bitcoin was $2200 then now you had $2680
With $1000 if you invested to NEO on june, 2017 now you had $28,000. x28 times your money

If you have patience to hold for few months than Bitcoin Cash (BCC) not bad but all against bitcoin, Ripple (XRP)  also need to be hold for few months.  But remember reward is always proportional to risk

It seems to me that the best option for beginners is Ethereum. This is probably the most reliable at the moment, the coin of all altcoins. She will not bring such income as new coins but the risk that you will lose your money minimum. In any case, the coins is not so easy as it seems at first glance. Be prepared for the fact that you always run the risk of losing their investment. On the market of cryptocurrencies there are always two sides. One loses money another makes these coins. Where will you largely depends on the case.

For trading, you should pay attention to volatile and liquid coins. Do not pursue excess profits. The quieter you go, the further you'll get. I would advise such currencies: ARDR, Neo, OMG, Zen. they are technologically advanced. And if you even went wrong and went for them in the negative, they still eventually datut plus. Now is not the best time to enter because of the whims of bitcoins. For profit, enter the altcoyins before the very fork of bitcoin and for short

While there is really no "beginner" coin for trading crypto, most simply start with Bitcoin itself before going to altcoins.

You can start trading with your local bitcoin exchange or go directly to big exchanges like Poloniex or Bittrex.
You also have the option of learning to trade with "test" or "dummy" exchanges like testnet.bitmex.com.
