Title: Will Bitcoin Cash be a threat to Bitcoin ?
Post by: matts19 on October 19, 2017, 10:04:22 PM
The fact is that BCH transaction fee is low and is very fast.
The fact is that BTC is just the opposite to this day, despite SegWit arrival.

I hold BTC and no BCH. But I am worried that if this trend continues, merchants will start accepting BCH instead of BTC.

Will Bitcoin Cash some day be a threat to Bitcoin ?

How fast comparing with the bitcoin? As the more miners are interested caused by the bitcoin cash difficulty adjustment and that gives them more opportunity to gain the more profit through mine the bitcoincash. But that was a shady trick in my opinion. That looks unfair.
Bitcoin cash will never become a threat to the bitcoin. And what's new from the bitcoin cash? Even ripple was better than it.

Right now i do not see that bitcoin cash will surpass bticoin. There are  a lot of coins that are most likely to succeed than bitcoin cash.

If you are worried about the fees well it is just part of the popularity of bitcoin.

Also if just in case bitcoin cash took over fees for it  will actually be the same.

***

Are you smoking when was pump on bitfinex I COULD NOT MOVE BCH THERE for 12hours... lobscouse they were mining 1blok per hour.
try arbitrage it with its speed and not get rekt...

This is joke... once they mine 6 bloks per 12 to adjust diff once 60 bloks per hour.

The fact is that BCH transaction fee is low..

NO ONE USE BCH mate even DOGE is used more.

This is problem today becouse from time to time 50% of hasrrate is going to BCH mining coins there... in rate 10x faster than BTC.
THis coin is great for miners but sucks for any kind of holders

I disagree with that assessment. All of my recent transactions have paid ~ 20 satoshis/byte or less, and I haven't even been bothered to upgrade to Segwit yet. Maybe I'll get around to updating this weekend.

BCH also has very long block times after difficulty adjustments. The emergency difficulty algorithm basically causes hyperinflation and incentivizes high hash rate. When difficulty adjusts upwards, so do block times as miners leave the network.

I hold BTC and no BCH. But I am worried that if this trend continues, merchants will start accepting BCH instead of BTC.

Will Bitcoin Cash some day be a threat to Bitcoin ?

Most merchants that are accepting BCH are just doing so through Shapeshift. I wouldn't worry too much about this.

The reason for BCH fast transaction and low fees is due to the low network congestion. Bitcoin network is way more busy than BCH network so that transaction time and fees are high compared to BCH. However, I don't think BCH can be a threat in any way to bitcoin because we have ETH in the market, which offers near instant transaction at a low fee. Also if you look at the market cap, you will understand that BCH failed to keep up to the expectation. Because when it started after the SegWit 2.0 in July, the BCH scored a market cap of 10 billion USD. But if you look at now, it's just 5.5 billion USD. The decreasing market cap shows the decrease in interest from the mass. So I think ETH can be a threat to bitcoin in future, but certainly not BCH.

wow this is the second thread i've been replied about bitcoin cash and i will say it again bitcoin cash is a complete failure and don't say that BCH is a threat becuase they aren't ethereum is more considered as a threat than BCH honestly. they are trying prove that big blocks are better than segwit but they failed. they didn't get any attention from the community even though that BCH has lesser fees because of the price it is the same amount of fees you have paying in bitcoin in terms of btc

I do not see any threat with bitcoin cash. Bitcoin already proved its capacity to the market, in fact i am very much confident to say that BTC will continue to grow. I think, bitcoin cash would take a long journey and must also proves it's capacity to stay long in the cryptocurrency.

No in my opinion.
Bitcoin is popular to everyone.
Trading are happening with bitcoin and it is mainstream now.
Remember bitcoin is the pioneer in this industry.
So it is pretty much impossible to surpass bitcoin by popularity or marketcap.

If that the case, almost all cryptocurrencies work faster than Bitcoin and several are even more lightning than Bitcoin Cash.
Consider Waves, the transaction works instantly with negligible fees. So that can't be the basis to challenge the authority of Bitcoin. Moreover, Bitcoin Cash (along with all other shit forks) is nothing but a disturbance in Bitcoin ecosystem.

It'll take years for Bitcoin Cash to be as promising as Bitcoin. It took years to be in the first place for bitcoin. It'll never be threat to Bitcoin. In fact no altcoin is a threat to Bitcoin in 1-2 years.

Why is  Bitcoin Cash Hashrate rising.I think that it is a temporary rise...

BCC definitely is more competitive as a payment system at this point. However, they have far fewer transactions and weird things happening with their hash power consistently. I'd be more worried about 2x than BCC at this point.

I think bitcoin cash will need so much time to get into the current position bitcoin has these days all alt coins can be a threat in the future for bitcoin but they need to prove something first. Bitcoin does not become the biggest hit digital currency if it not experience a lot in the market it takes time before it gains its popularity and trust this is the reason why the market demand continouosly increasing and bitcoin cash needs to have all of this.

The advantages of BCh in transactions are more economical but the general public knows much BTC than BCH,
So if the BCH price is high also only briefly and do not change the BTc value. ;D

I do not see bitcoin cash ever really threatening the dominance of bitcoin, the transaction costs and speed are low because of the relatively low popularity of bitcoin cash, if everyone transitioned then it would face the same problems as bitcoin.

We cannot tell the conclusion as of now. Only time can tell. For now, the support is solid behind bitcoin even if the real purpose of Bitcoin Cash may be very valid. In the end, the outcome will always side with according to the choice of the majority of the people in the crypto community. Even if the fees in using Bitcoin Cash is much lower, if the people will stick to bitcoin then bitcoin will still rule.

most likely BCH will not be able threats at all to BTC because although prices to two coin is very different but still a lot of people who prefer BTC with the quality of coins are able to specify a good in the benefit within a fairly short.

With the recent developments, it seems like all the Bitcoin Cash miners have moved back to mining Bitcoin which is an indication of the increased difficulty. After this movements of miners, it seems BCH is being ditched and left to rot while Bitcoin is back on its evergreen track. Don't see how BCH can possibly be any sort of a threat to Bitcoin by any means.

In the unreliable world of crypto, its seems that the most important feature so far has been the first-mover advantage.  So for the time being, I don't see anything else threatening bitcoin.

It might be. The reason it's moving up today is that Bitpay have indicated that they may make it available as an option.

Bitpay handle the payments for merchants like Overstock, and at the moment the only crypto enabled is bitcoin. But people are reluctant to use bitcoin because of the high fees (and because they want to hoard it). So for bitpay to survive they need to have a coin that people will actually use.

i think if merchants is starting to accepting bch, then we can sell our bitcoin to buy bch and then we can used it for pay something we want in that merchant. but i don't think that bitcoin cash will be threat like bitcoin and i only think that bitcoin cash is like another coins like altcoin that will help us to make money. beside bitcoin cash, we now have bitcoin gold and i think bitcoin gold is like bitcoin cash that will help us to search another profit from each coins. but i realize that bitcoin cash is very fast in transaction although i am not using too often.

BTC has been challenged by many alts and see who's the strongest coin among all. Don't panic or create vibes like this. BTC will stay strong and it will be the main currency that will circulate in digital world

All altcoins transaction is very fast to compare BTC transaction that means we can't tell all altcoins are a threat to bitcoin right. Suppose if the merchants started to accept bch then we can convert BTC to BCH and do business that's it. I think no merchants will accept any altcoins suppose if they accept means it should be a reputed altcoins like ETH.

Bitcoin cash just another clone purpose and that will be never competing with the bitcoin itself. as the primary currency and that should be adopted by a lot of people. Bitcoin cash just another altcoin for me
