Since you are going to do freelancer jobs and manually rent something, you can do everything manually by creating a wallet for the crypto you want to accept and give the user your address so they can send you payments. It's easy as that, since it's basically a normal P2P transaction and there is no need to use a cryptocurrencies payment gateway.

Simply use any Bitcoin wallet such as Electrum and give the buyer your address to send you Bitcoins.
Depending on how you're going to communicate, you can also send a QR code that also has the to-be-paid BTC amount in it. Electrum allows you to do that in the 'receive' tab.

But I'd personally use BitPay for anything business-related. It was made from the ground up for this type of thing and you can also generate QR codes on mobile. Plus you can integrate a payment gateway in your website. It's what Steam uses.
