Whats the best altcoin right now. I wanna invest 5000$

Well, that's a huge amount of money and is a good amount to earn profit on an investment. I think, the best altcoin to invest at this moment is still Etherium. It's market value is now increasing because the same thing happens on its market demand. I also prefer investing to Bitcoin since it is getting more expensive. Also, there are already investors on altcoin that are moving to Bitcoin to go along with the increase on its value.

You need to define what you mean by best. Best long term potential upside? Most likely not to decrease from this point on? Most likely to go 100x?

Ethereum because the price of that coin will reach the lowest point of 0.04 btc, will rise up to 0.06 btc.

Buy Eth.  Wait for the BTC drop, capitalize, then profit!

It has to be ETH. That said, ETH suffers quite a bit from its actual success in that most ICO use the ERC20 token. This makes it more popular as a crypto to invest with. The problem is the ICO's are forced not to hold to get the projects gioing and therefore sell.

I just suggest try investing with Ethereum or BitcoinCash, I think both of these coins have an opportunity to gain more profit at a certain time, I belive this.. I also have invested in these that two coins.

Since its against the USD - I would say Ripple.

The problem is "what is the best". Does that mean against the USD?

Risk and return - the higher the risk the higher the potencial return.....or loss.

I don't think there is one single "best" coin right now because the future is too uncertain. So, would suggest you diversify your investment into multiple coins that look to be high quality. Some that I've heard frequently mentioned and worth considering are

Lisk
Neo
Qtum
Ark
Omisego
Walton
Chainlink

But perhaps look at coinmarketcap for the top 20 and review those to get a sense as well.

you cna try to look at the coinmarket cap and about to determined which is good for you and you must try to understand about the basic thing about the project and you can try to see the review of each of the project through the announcement thread. I can't tell you which is the best caused by that will be so difficult to choose.

Ethereum for the majority and then check out some other altcoins like IOTA and Waves.

How is it so much it is almost 0.8 btc the amount isn't a lot. Regarding your investment it better if you invest 10% or max 20% in 10 different alts or 5 different alts to keep balance of profit and loss. Eth is a really good option but currently it is a bit high i would recommend you to buy at $250.
Second coin which i would suggest is xmr if you looking for long term buy now or somewhere around $70.
Remaining invest in equally in ltc , zrx , omg , etc.

Etherium Classis, ZCash, ZCoin, Waves, Ripple are some good alts that are super cheap right now. Basically just zoom out on the charts and buy any fundamentally strong coin that is super cheap.

for long therme I would buy ARK and STRATIS...

There's many ICOs that you can invest in, but I suggest to you to invest in opus or Everex , bitair, you have many choices i propose to you to see some videos about the best ICOs I think that will help you.

wow that's a huge amount but I will agree with everyone invest on Ethereum . Many millionaire already invested on this coin and I am also one of those people who holds Ethereum  , I really feel that Ethereum has an edge to defeat bitcoin , Since many tokens are supporting Ethereum block chainI think in no time it's value will rise much more than the price of bitcoin.

At the recent time you obviously have to look into the Kick coin for the more cheapest price right now. the kickcoin now are below their presale price 3000 KC=1 eth. now kc price is 1150 satoshi only. so you can invest here. but where to invest you its up to you but its my point of view.

i have been buying AE, KNC and MDA these days, i think these coins have a good future, what i cant make sure is that will the price now be the lowest price

Phew, that is almost 1 Bitcoin worth of dollars. Well done for taking the decision. But do not go all in, follow the basic principle of investment. Spread out that $5000 into some of the top 5 cryptos, definitely ETH should be one.

Then look for another 10 in the top 100, do your own research of course. Look for alts you like, with a good future, good development progress and good signs of active community. Now is such a bargain price for many alts, so do not hesitate to spend the time to learn before buying.

I guess ethereum is too cheap to buy and hold right now. I don't see it going much more than these levels. Ethereum is tightly bonded to bitcoin so they will make them raise each other.

Long term i would probably go with bitcoin.

However if you're holding for the medium term then i would actually go with Dogecoin - seems dead right now but i have a feeling that the price is going to get pumped up real soon, as it always does in cycles for dogecoin.

More long term i'd go with monero, simply one of the best communities + devs.

The only alt coin I would consider holding long term is litecoin. It is over 6 years old and the only coin beside bitcoin and ethereum listed on coinbase and bitstamp. Ethereums future is to uncertain to be considered for long term holding.

Bitcoin and Ethereum both look good. Also, VIVO seems rather interesting with its high masternode payout.

Try to invest in something that has already proven that their project is really worth it. I would of course place Ethereum in the first altcoin spot. It will be followed by Waves, SC, BAT, MCO, and Strat. Do not invest all your $5000 in only one altcoin. Diversify your portfolio. You can also add some OPT and DENT if you want. For long term, at least a year of hodling.

If your gonna invest make you sure that what you invest could you also afford to lose ,  5000$ is very huge so better do a lot of research before you invest on some altcoins/ICO's  , Keep in mind that investing in cryptocurrency is risky , but saying that it was risky the returns was undeniably high so make sure you remember all that , personally I suggest ETC because it was been become very stable and continue to increase in value and I am also holding some .

Litecoin (LTC) It is Bitcoin without the drama. Also supported on many  many exchanges + enough volume.

The best Coin in the current time is bitcoin only because its value is going increasing step by step and we can also understand well that we have chance to make much money with the free amount of bitcoin gold ( BTG ) in front of same amount of bitcoin that we will have will get .
Currently my suggestion for you to have Digibyte coin , Etherium coin , bitcoin cash , regal coin , dash coin etc .
These are those coins which are at low price much but have better potential to increase and gain the market  , so you can make investment in these coins  and can make better profit .

Ethereum as well as Ripple are cheap now to buy and reserve now for future turnover. They seem to be taking off in the market slowly along with bitcoins as per coinmarketcap.com. I am planning to invest in these.

Eth and Litecoin for alt coins. But honestly for long term investment Bitcoin is probably the best idea.

If we talk about best coin nobody know which one is the best. People just give opinion. For me etherium is my choice.

You can try vtc coin (vert coin). It is now pumping. You can wait some dump and try it.
Verge also interesting - it is new one coin with anonymous things!

In my opinion the best altcoin for longterm investment is Ethereum, because this altcoin has strong in fundamental. Ethereum will be the biggest altcoin for now and in the future. Blockchain and Platform Ethereum used by many project that cause the demand continue increasing.

There are Altcoins that seats on top Altcoins after Bitcoin so we should be able to invest with lower rate of risks and high probability of gaining profits since there are too many ICOs but only few are those who reached the next Bitcoin especially Bitcoin's hard forks.
Too many ICOs and most of them having a red tag on or before the campaign so Ethereum, waves, Bitcoin forks are one of those.

Like people said, you should spread your money out. However the upcoming Universa ICO seems to be promising. Also Chainlink has the opportunity to get huge. They already have an agreement with SWIFT, which is a huge network of banks.

For me, the most important thing to consider before investing to altcoins is to diversify or divide your capital into parts nad invest each part to different altcoins. Altcoins are indeed the best choice for investment especially at this time that bitcoin price is at its peak. My choices for long-term altcoin investment are LITECOINS, RIPPLES, WAVES, and STEEM. The prices of these altcoins are comparatively low (which is a good point when you want to buy a bunch of them). Ripples price is at $0.2, Litecoin at $56.70, Waves at $3.5, and STEEM at $0.97.

These altcoins also belong to top 30 altcoins with highest market cap. Ripples has a market cap of $8,265,284,820 (3rd), Litecoin has $3,032,089,394 (5th), Waves has $353,870,000 (20th), and STEEM has $236,478,875 (25th). High market cap means high chance for its price to grow.

there are some cheap coins that have a future. such as new coins CTR, CND and still others. depending on which one you are interested in. I think this is a study so you should try to find it.

I feel like recommendation across all board for OmiseGO, Monero and NEO is still very strong. Personally for me would be ETH . There's a lot of other variations to consider too, eg; the duration to HODL (5 and 10 years are quite the difference).
