Title: hardware setup - newbie
Post by: lordpaladin on October 23, 2017, 07:49:50 AM
Hi All!

I'm new to Bitcoin and would like to ask a few questions:

1. Can I setup a bitcoin miner rig using existing or usual Desktop PCs build?
2. If yes, what are the important PC parts that will largely contribute to mining ie big RAMs, larger HD capacity, faster CPUs, fan cooled or liquid cooled setup
3. Is mining software free? If yes, where can I download one in Windows based format

Thank you!

Hi there,

In short No.

To mine bitcoin and make it profitable or worth while even as a hobby, you need to use an Asic Miner. There is information on all currently relevant hardware available throughout the forum. A short list is Canaan's Avalon products, Bitmain Antminers, and Ebang's Ebit Miners.

The forum will provide you with all relevant information on those products.

NO, personal computer uses GPU or high end video card, if you want to mine BTC then Buy ASIC miner

No, You can't use your PC for mining if you do so your PC will burn due to lack of capacity.
Mining requires high performing hardware. You can assemble your own setup with following equipments Graphic cards (1080 is best) 8gb, Mother board, latest processors i3 or more, Power supplier etc. There are many youtube videos available to help you assembling.
Else you can but exclusive equipment for mining like Antminer s9 ot ASIC miner
