Title: GPU power requirements and PSU related

Hi,

On GPU specs its stated that the Minimum System Power Requirement (W) is 400W. I want to use same 6 cards on the rig.

Its also stated that the Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) is 120W.

I have Corsair HX1200i PSU. Based on above, it seems a 2400W PSU would be required (for 6 GPUs having 400W each) or its something I am really missing.

Without knowing the exact configuration of the system it's impossible to know how much power the system will use. The system requirements are a recommended SUGGESTION and are often WAY overstated so you don't easily over extend the power capacity of your PSU when running the system at max TDP.

So would 1200W PSU be sufficient for these GPUs in total quantity of 6?

120W TDP, it looks like GTX 1060 card. If it's the case, for 6 cards, you could use 850W PSU. I'm running 3 rigs of 1060 at 85% power limit, PSU 850W. It's still running smooth.

120W x 6 = 720W, and the other stuff like CPU/MB/RAM should be calculated (probably less than 200W) and divided by PSU efficiency: so around 1200W should be quite enough.

I powered 5x1060 by 1000W PSU without problems.

The PSU requirement in the GPU specs is listed with the assumption that you have an entire single-GPU desktop system, so  multiplying that out by 6 would assume you have 6 independent single-GPU desktop systems, and the cards are not consolidated into one system. Additionally, the listed 400W is only an approximation, so PSU requirements would vary wildly, obviously, if your CPU was, say, a 220W AMD 9590 vs. a low-power Celeron.

With 6x 1060s, you could *probably* get by with a high-quality 850W power supply, assuming that you aren't overclocking and have a low-power mobo/CPU/etc. setup.

I'd personally play it safe with a good 1000W unit, if a single-PSU setup is what you want. (Note that you might run low on physical connectors, depending on what risers you intend to get.)

 I would NOT go with a 850 on a rig with 6 of those - it leaves NO headroom and almost no margin whatsoever.
 You might get away with it if you consistently and reliably drop the TDP to under 100 watts per card with Afterburner in Windows or the applicable command-line control in LINUX BEFORE you start your mining software up.
 A good 1000 should be enough.

 The 1200 you list should be PLENTY.
