Title: R9 380 Mining
Post by: smoolae on October 24, 2017, 09:05:54 AM
How many Mh/s do you get from Your R9 380 cards while mining ETH (if anyone even uses them anymore for ETH ;D)
What are Your settings for mining?

I'm getting 18-19Mh/s on factory settings(Sapphire Nitro+), away from home right now cannot remember the clocks but I feel it could do a little better.

I have read that with BIOS mod it could do around 24Mh/s, could it be true?

Same card, 22MH/s ETH + 320 SIA, memory at 1550 (works higher, but artifacts on screen
so I keep it lower because I like this card :) )

Could You share the edited BIOS? I'm really thinking to mod my R9 380

Ok, flashed my BIOS but it seems it only gave my +1 Mh/s, now hashing around 20Mh/s...
Used the 380NR.ROM from here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwLnDyLLT3WkRUQ4VU5kVm5qM0k
Don't know if I did something wrong or what. The first time I started up my miner after the flash it showed 40 compute units instead of usual 28. And for a brief moment it showed 28.9Mh/s from GPU 0 (for me it's my R9 380) what is definitely a bit too much ;D.

What the hell happened?

Radeon R9 380 card is the one of the good GPU card from Radeon cards. The hash rate is reported to be around the 20 Mega Hash and the electricity power consuming for this usage that is about 190 watt. The 24mh you are are asking is the little lower than you expected. This cards are widely used to mine ethereum, monero and zcash. block reward will be pretty decent dude.

Apparently you are mining from a country with low electricity. These cards at 250 watt consumption without BIOS modification and the almost 20 Mhash they give in a country like mine where electricity cost is 0.16 euro/kwatt surely its a suicide to mine with these cards. In fact if you check Ebay Italy you will find these cards being sold as cheap as 80-90 Euro so for some people who live in India or Iran where electricity is super cheap these maybe a really good option to mine but for Eurozone main countries no. I am happy at 90 watt and 24.1 Mhash mining ETC with GTX 1060 3GB.

Yeap, electricity cost in Estonia is low, so you don't really have to care with what you are mining with :)
But still, I really would want to up my hashrate over 20Mh/s :(

I would suggest to check a few tutorials of how to flash the Bios of your card/cards. Look for videos in Youtube and for step by step guides in google. They exist although they are more difficult to find compared to RX series which google and youtube is full of guides and videos where the RX series are being Bios modified. I would also suggest that some professional do it, a friend of yours would be perfect if you fear you might brick your cards and lack the expertise of such thing.

Found an R9 380 2gb card for $50. This it's still worth picking up to add to my gaming pc to mine? Currently mine with my 1070 on multipoolminer so it switched around to different coins. Mine when I am not gaming. Let me know if you think its worth it. Pay around 0.13 kWh.

Really 250W ? I thought it was around 150W ? How to confirm?

For me it was around 130-150w :)

My Sapphire Nitro 380 jas two 6-pin connectors, so can draw (in theory) 225W, but
of course never goes that high, and is in 130-150W range with some undervolting, even less if mining monero
