Title: New BTC user. Frustrated and looking for help. Post by: gtabmx on June 27, 2011, 08:15:08 AM Hi everyone. I am new to bitcoin and plain and simple, I want to buy about $100 of it. Unfortunately for me, my parents made the grave mistake of giving birth to me in Canada, so there is no way I can deposit any funds in any exchange (currently) to buy bitcoin. My avenues, or "hoops to jump through" as I call them are:
1. Open a US chequing account with US bank using a false US address. Use that to deposit money into a Dwolla account. Then use the Dwolla account to fund an exchange account. Use the exchange account to buy BTC. The reverse for a withdrawl. 2. Open a LR or some other online currency account (in simplified terms) and hope that they accept CAD from a CAD bank bill payment or money transfer with non-raping fees. 3. Spend all day on OTC irc building a reputation and scouting out sellers to buy bitcoin from, because, you know, I have all day to waste just so I can buy some BTC. Anyone have any ideas? Any other Canadian have it all figured out? -Mike Title: Re: New BTC user. Frustrated and looking for help. Post by: Stephen Gornick on June 27, 2011, 08:24:00 AM Hi everyone. They are still in BETA mode (i.e., not accepting payments from new accounts), but check out: - https://www.cavirtex.com/methods And also see, #bitcoin-cad IRC channel. Title: Re: New BTC user. I've heard of that exchange and have an account there and I've been pacing back and forth waiting for them to open it up! I just logged onto the IRC, lets see what I can get done here.
