Post by: Vroom2212 on October 24, 2017, 11:31:59 AM
Hi everyone! I am new to trading cryptocurrencies. I am wondering, how did you guys get started? Where did you get your info from? And how do you know/predict which coin is going to be profitable?

Thanks!

how did you guys get started? Do some research and read. ALOT. There's no sugarcoating this. Simply read as much resources as  you can.

Where did you get your info from?
Bitcointalk, Reddit, YouTube,  Articles. The internet in general. Just use Google for whatever information you need.

And how do you know/predict which coin is going to be profitable? Once again, read. Does the coin solve a real-world issue or at least enhance or improve a certain industry? Is that coin just a copy of a certain existing coin? Are the developers actually active and currently working on or improving the product? etc.

Just simply browse through the forums. There's so much stuff to learn from.

Well if you want to become a good trader you really have to do more effort because this is not easy, be ready mentally, emotionally and of course financially. Do read some blogs about tradings, read trading book, listen to a good trader online and then do the demo trading on some exchanges. It's not easy but i believe you will master it on time.

The idea behind trading is very simple, you just buy low and sell high. You clearly don't know anything for sure but to predict, you just need to follow the news regarding that specific coin (a hard fork, an update, being added to an exchange, merchants accepting it etc.) all these factors play a big role in determining the price. Another way would be to buy CryptoPing BOT subscription, It has the ability to predict based on the increase on volume etc.

Start by reading a lot of information here and asking questions and by actually trading (even if it's with such a small amount just for practice). You can never know which coins will be profitable but you can speculate based on how useful the coin is and how good the team are working on it.

But how do you "find" a coin to research, as in where and how do you pick a coin to look in to?

currently there are many ICO-generated altcoins available on the exchange, and usually when they enter the market the price will drop dramatically and below the ICO price, I personally often take advantage of the situation. but this is also not easy, because it must analyze it first. whether the ICO is a success, look at the total supply to consider a reasonable price, and many other analyzes. Nothing is easy to achieve a profit.

Aahh okay, and by the ICO price you mean the price during the token sale?

I started reading about the trade experiences posted by the senior members so that I can learn from it without investing or losing my capital. However, to get the detailed information and understand it in a better way then there is no other way than starting actual trading. I learned most of the things through trial and error method, however, I have also lost my 100% capital in my initial days of trading when I used to trade based on other's opinion so doing own research is highly recommended. I still consider myself a newbie so that it helps me to learn more and more and detailed research helps me to predict the price probabilities using the trend analysis.

I used to get almost all my information from the Bitcoin wiki @ https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page
They're still pretty good, but some sections are pretty outdated, it is good for learning about some technical concepts though.

Also, you can find a lot of information on Youtube, might be easier to understand for some people.
I follow a channel called 'The Cryptverse', it's pretty good for information about certain coins and ICO's.

I started when I see people trading here in forum, I don't know about before what trading really is but when I keep on reading discussions about trading I did it by myself.

Where did you get your info from?

Here in forum.

And how do you know/predict which coin is going to be profitable?

Thanks!

I'm not that good in predicting but I'm also depending to the suggestions and tips of other traders which is really helpful to me. Some of it aren't working out but it's worth of a try.

If I start trading after having previously mastered knowledge by searching on the website continuously. Problem choosing a coin to run in trading usually I am inclined to pink because of the increase in the selling value in every movement is very fast.

what the others say. dont start with overly complicated technical analysis or watching too many indicators or margin trading. just watch BTC or ETH on a minute candle and try to identify trends.

The best tool that you can use to predict which coin is profitable is your self, you have to equip your self with knowledge by reading books, watching educational videos that teaches you how to read charts, graphs and candles and join a group of traders and trade ideas, surround your self with traders so you can learn from them. But don't join those signal groups that tells you which one to buy, those are nothing but scam. Before you Buy, they already bought and you are just a sacrificial lamb for their exit plan.

You may find many youtube videos which speaks about the bitcoin and altcoin trading. I will suggest you create a trading account in localbitcoins since many trusted traders making money whenever the price fluctuation takes part in the market. You should have some amount of bitcoin in your wallet at every time to trade the bitcoin whether selling or buying. When you involved in trading, you should check the price chart continuously to set the value in trade.

Ok, so i have started trading back in February via Bitfinex... I look at the trading volume of an altcoin before I decide to buy it so even though the price dips I can still expect for it to bounce back soon. One more thing that I check is the whitepaper.

monitor xrb its easy to earn and trusted coins for long term you can earn by weeks like 2 or 3 weeks thats all i do ,you can also earn by buying high coins but sell it like a month its so risky because you dont know what will happen in the coins so better is monitor it first then invest when you know the cycle of the coins

Trading cryptocurrency can be a tricky thing, but also rewarding if you get the hang of it, since the market is still new therefore with every new buble bring more users and investors which pushes the price even more, but what you should do in order to start trading is you need to first a good trading platform and it  should be trustworth like karkan where thye will give you a cahnce to experinece trading without havinf to spend money until you get the hang of things, second you need to know how to be smart and paitent and wait for the right moment to sell, and never keep you moeny on exchange and never risk what you can't afford.

I started at poloniex without any trading knowledge.  My first BTC is amounting 30usd that is 0.030btc that time. I trade without knowing  what will happened. One time I accidentally purchase 3 eth at 10usd each.  But ETH pump so my BTC becomes 0.060btc.. After that I loss in trades from buying coins at the tip. For example I bought
SC at 600sats. So I decided to learn the proper way of trading specially  reading charts.

Finding your way here is a good way to start and I congratulate you because you have not started before coming here. That would have been one of the most painful thing knowing that you could have done it in another way. Now that you are here, the most important is reading and understanding the way the market works and not be discouraged by some of your first actions towards practicing the things you must have learnt.

Start by jerking your ass. No, I'm just teasing you amigo. jajajajaja! If you are referring to altcoins then you must check the volume, cap, whitepaper, and the dev. If you are confident with these then buy the coin ahead. The reason why you should check these first is because there is a huge chance of holding a bag of these once the market gone bear. It feels better when you are confident about your coins rather than holding a scammy bag of it.

If you want to get started then you should enlighten yourself before engaging into this because it is not easy like you think if you will not have knowledge in your mind so it is better to study a lot and keep exploring because that is how you are going to prepare yourself in different circumstances in the field that you are going into.

I'm surprised to read comments about technical analysis in a thread on cryptocurrency.
I live off trading, mainly currencies and indices. I honestly don't think that technical analysis is going to help to trade cryptocurrencies.
Most of time the trend is down and when the price goes up, the up-moves are usually very sharp and this makes harder to read the indicator that you are using. For instance, if you use a Stochastic Oscillator with a period of 12 candles and you have a day with a great up-move, after 13 days, that candle will be removed from the calculation and you will easily pass from an over-bought zone to an over-sold one according to your indicator.
Breakouts of important levels and volumes seem to be the only interesting parts of technical analysis applied to cryptocurrency.
My opinion is that, for this kind of market, fundamental analysis has much more importance.

Just my humble and honest opinion.

Good luck  ;)

If you are a btc trader then the simplest way to start is to buy btc or the altcoins and wait for it's price rise. But that requires you must monitor the market regularly and choose at the price reduces to buy. It will be easier to make a profit. and to know what the coins can  make a big profit, then you need experience in trading and monitor the market carefully.

I started by starting to do small tradings with altcoins (ltc/doge pairs and such). This makes you understand a lot of things that are useful for trading greater ammounts, like the way to put orders, how much profit is lost in fees... when people are dumping or pumping or when a coin is cheap or not.

Too much reading and asking is very good for any newbie in any field of life because these both options help a lot me also before jump just check all goods and bad of this thing without doing any research and analysis you can go down badly and have very minimum chances of survive but if you have done good home work then you can go safely or have less losses

first of all to learn to trade is to read, read, read, feed your mind with lots of info, this where you gather data for all the coins, stocks or crypto you are going to invest or trade, then next is strategy practice on how to predict a price without investing like make a target lik you predict the price in two  or three months time. after that controlling your emotion, this is the most crucial part of trading and investing, the emotion and the FUD. once  you will know how to control your emotion then you can start trading but start just a little value something that you can afford to lose.then practice holding your investment into two, one fr short term and the other is for long term.

You can take part your time for trading. First you take you session in learning cryptocurrencies about a new coin details like it's ICO rate, whitepaper, website, team combination etc. Then you can take your second session on marketplace. A cryptocurrency market is a big place that related all coin in cryptocurrencys. So learn about it and follow coin rate. When you fell you are perfect for investment then you start you journey in a small invest. I hope you will do it like a smart trader in future.

Hi everyone! I am new to trading cryptocurrencies. I am wondering, how did you guys get started? Where did you get your info from? And how do you know/predict which coin is going to be profitable?

Thanks!
You know starting one thing without any knowledge about it is really hard. So my advice to you before starting trading is that you must gain a lot of information about trading just search a strategy that you can use in trading. With that i believe that you will be a great and successfull trader.

Before you get started, you need to read news about Bitcoin and ask your friends who already know Bitcoin about their experience in trading.  Then, you really need to place your money to Bitcoin for you to really apply what you have learned about it. Bitcoin is really having fun. It's really enjoying.

YouTube is my bestfriend.  I learned how to trade by watching the uploaded videos. If you have some money to spare get an account from coinygy to get some info which coin is pumping at the moment. Lastly,  visit twitter to get some chart info from veteran traders.

If you really want to be a good trader well you have to learn from a good and professional traders. Read their suggestions and experience on trading learn from their experience. Listen on what they say about trading and give time to read books about it.
Exactly, what the senior person give you advice, that you can’t find anything better than that. They have been into this hard time and good time, so that know better who to deal when situations are different. Contact with them, make your portfolio in mind, think and research on whatever they soda. Because it will be so rough and waste to dive in trading without knowing it.

hey, just jump right in and learn how to swim. Reading is boring, how hard can it be? Buy in dips, and sell when the price increases. you will make mistakes and learn, just try to learn the patterns, it is instinctive, and no book can teach you that. If possible get a bot to lessen the burden.

I never predict how a coin will be successful for trading, I just monitor the graph of each coin. when the coin has a huge drop without thinking I bought the coin and waited for a while until the price went back up to the original price. because if you have to predict it is a very difficult thing to do in the world of cryptocurrency.

If you do what you like, surely you will not calculate with time and will not think lazy. But if you've been lazy from the beginning, it means you do not want to know and do not want to deal with Bitcoin. Though you can get great benefits and benefits from Bitcoin. You can learn Bitcoin from google very easily. You do not have to sit in front of the computer for hours.

Read the moment in your spare time and start asking people. Later you will understand by itself. Try you start searching on google about what is Bitcoin, and how to get Bitcoin. From there you will know more and find out more details.

before you enter yourself into trading you should know more about how it works. first, just follow the news and blogs about trading coins, i have seen it also in social media since cryptocurrency is a little bit popular now in different country. then you can start by buying coins in low price and sell it when the price got higher. in that way you can earn from trading.

Yes, Trading demands a proper background knowledge and homework before getting into this profession. Your re not going to make any solid profit if you are treating trading like gambling and totally depending on your instincts for taking decisions.

Better learn from good and authentic sources about coins you are interested and keep practicing trading with small amounts.

Because of this I never stop to learn ...
because this is not easy ....
fortunately or not, back to each of us.
remember to keep learning, because learning will not betray the final result ....

I had the same questions a while ago and I still have some.
I spent a lot of time understanding how the ICO market works. Most of the time, these are the investments with the highest possible return. Unfortunately, these are the riskiest investments too. Trying to spot the next big thing I created a Dashboard, ranking the hottest active ICOs. Take a look https://cryptall.info/ . Hope it helps!

how did you guys get started?

Great reply! It's true before delving into the trading market, do a lot of research first, fill yourself with information that could help you decide and follow good trading habits. Also, trial-and-error is not that bad, if you can invest a little amount to practice and see how the trading market moves, it could really give you valuable information that can lower the risk of losing money through trading.

Better is, when you are starting trading or investing in bitcoin, it is quite better to make do your homework for better future.

I started with reading some threads in blogs about trading and many threads here in trading discussion is very useful in a beginner. Technical analysis and reading some charts with the past trading chart happen in a coin. I am trading only for a short period of time and it needs more focus than the long one. Basic strategy "buy low selling at high"

It is really important to know which coin you'll start with, you are right all of your hard earned money will lost if you don't be wise in investing it, it is not necessary to just take risk, yes you should have the guts to start by having a self confidence to take risk but it is also important to know what coins you'll start with.

Obviously without a sound knowledge about your coins that you are working with, you are not able to make money and right moves at crucial times at all. For this purpose, you are supposed to read the whitepapers of the coins you are interested in, moreover read articles and news related to digital currencies and crypto market. In this way you will come to know about the trending coins.

Im suppose everyone goes through this phase always and in the initial phase everything looks really messed up.

Quote
I am wondering, how did you guys get started?

Well, when I came into crypto first then I wasn't sure about the trading crypto currencies because it was not my choice. But eventually my friends helped me a lot during the trade. My first profit was 20-30% of the initial investment which made me go crazy about the trading stuff. So I tarted picking up the different techniques used by my friends. For example, investing into coin at early stages of ICO, investing into coins which are having lots of buzz around the forum itself. This way I grabbed some of the best coins and started trading them whenever the time was right.

Quote
Where did you get your info from?

Nonetheless the forum itself is best place to know about the coins info. You can subscribe to coin's social network where they will be making lots of updates and depending on what the prices sometimes fluctuates a lot. Also, there is blogs such as steemit and medium digest which can help you get most recent updates on the project development.

Quote
And how do you know/predict which coin is going to be profitable?

This is really dependent on the second point that I made above and obviously some of our logic is important to apply while predicting the things.

This is not the right time indeed to buy bitcoins. As we all know that against our expectations, the prices of bitcoins have actually risen to an unreachable level in terms of buying. This is also possible that the prices would actually get decreased at the middle of next year and so all one has to do is to wait for the right time to buy.

As far as the present situation is concerned only those who could actually afford to but bitcoins at the price of more than dollar 7000 should go for buying more coins.

I started with crypto trading by all myself and I just took the help of articles over the internet. Many of the trades that I had were very bad because I did not applied proper strategies for them. I was aware that we have to buy coins at low and sell at high rates but when I hit the crypto market things were different. There were thousand coins to choose from and I started grabbing the lowest valued coins because I thought they are cheap and I can buy a lot of them but what I did not think that whether they will have sufficient investors in the future or not to gain more value. This way I lost lot of investment but learnt that the coin must have mega market cap so that it can survive in the market and they may expect to grow in the future.

1. You really should not underestimate the reading aspect of this world. The first thing you should do is get to know all the info there is about crypto, all the terminologies and mechanics of the blockchain
2. You should meet new people and you should recognize that the person next to you may know a lot more than you about this stuff

To start stick with the top volume coins. Try to buy while on a down cycle. All the top  coins go up and down considerably..
Pick  coins you would be comfortable holding for spell in case you misjudged the down cycle and it kept going down.
My top ones are BTC, ETH, LTC, DASH, ZEC, XMR, NEO. There are a few others, study up on them, and go with your gut.

I recently was ready to buy some BTC but it was at an all time high. I noticed ETH was at a 90 day low, I bought ETH instead. BTC dropped and ETH went up, then I used the ETH to buy more BTC! Ended up withabout 10% more than if I'd bought straight out BTC.
I just tried to do the same again with a smaller amount, thinking BTC was going to dip again, but BTC kept going up and ETH dipped. So I'm comfortable holding the ETH until the market flips around again.

My rule is not to sell for a loss, you cannot go wrong holding any of the coins listed above, especialy BItcoin.

Establish your goals and figure some rules to go by. Everyone plays a little different and has different tolerances for risk.

My rule #1 is not to lose money!

If you are just going to barge in into the Trading world without any knowledge about it, then you can call it "suicide", it is like you are a soldier who went into the battleground without any ammo, what a naïve move. It is important if you are going to read first about how to do Trading well and other stuffs that will help you to be a good Trader in order not to lose your money.

I just get started with my sister,She just convince me to have this extra income profit.when l start to advertised bitcoin l used to write it down in a piece of paper. So that l can check it.lts really difficult but l really try to make it understand.l found this bitcoin job that this is you really need a very long patience to wait until you get your reward.Because from the start you can't have a salary as big as you expect. Thanks to my sister that if she did not teach me l don't get started at bitcoin.

The first and fore most thing which you need to take care of before even getting started is none other than gaining some good amount of knowledge. It is because of the reason that the thing which will help you the most will be none other than this. After that, go for investing in that coin which you think has more chances of having a bright future. Keep on working hard and you will get what all you want.

if you are new in  trading and you want to start trading then i will suggest you start trading with bitcoin by investing less money and get some experience by doing trading with less money and when you get some experience then you can increase your investment and with time you will become a big trader in future.
That is never a good way to start trading. Quote me if I am ever wrong, except you are lucky, you are going to lose a lot and you will keep losing without learning a single thing until you quit.

The best way to go about trading is to learn perfectly well first. There is no two ways or shortcut to it. There are a lot of resources online and on YouTube that you can make use of, so use them. Once you are sure you have gained a lot, no matter how long it took you (don’t rush), then you can now practice with a little to see how well you can manage what you have before going in big.

As a newbie, I first got my info from coin desk. But then eventually you will learn that coindesk will never be enough and is usually later than other sources. You will learn to find news in reddit, bitcointalk forums, heck even from twitter and facebook. You will have to develop your own strategy for finding news if you want to ride the crypto waves. Surfs up dude. Good luck.

Keep learning and educating yourself because that is the key to get started in cryptocurrency. If you still know just a few about the cryptocurrency then studying is a must and if you will keep doing that thing until you learned something then you can just do things easily because you have got the information and power which is the knowledge.

As newcomer you can start reading about the different coins, their history, exchangers that entertains them. You must know how crypto currency exchanger look like and how they operate within the day trading. As this market never closes it is very good to understand its working first.

Then you must know various tricks and tips about the stop/loss limits, market bid value and analysing the market depth etc. These are stuff related to the exchangers. First step to take you into trading!

Later you should start acquiring few coins and try to exchange them with different pairs so that you will understand whole operation. Then start with swing trades. Read about it yourself and you will understand it more. :-)

If you are a newbie in this cryptocurrencies world then you should start searching from google. Why? Because most of us here doesn't have any idea about it and we just started searching and reading from google. If you get stuck to some information that made you quite confused then that would be the time for you to start asking here. This is not a spoon feeding class.

You should use this Bittrex account . Do weekly updates and only buy and sell when you're recording. Would be neat to see how quickly you could double that 0.1BTC. :)

Actually, when i started i did not know what to do, i was really upset. I watch youtube, read and research to gain knowledge of Bitcoin Trading. How to know if you earn a coin? Do a research, check what kind of coin you choose. If you really want to become a trader learn from it and be patient with everything.
