Firstly i am so sorry for my awful English writing  skill.
I am a newbie to crypto world, i haven't owned any bitcoins yet. Today i decide to buy some altcoins to hold for long term, i have 10.000$. I am curious about this time, because the price of altcoins is going up too fast, bitcoin's price is high, too. So anyone can give me some advices?, please help me! I intend to buy oax, time, link, eos, ark, lisk, waves, neo, xtrabytes,omg.

I would wait a bit, there is another bitcoin fork coming in november. So if you have some alts take profit or hold and buy more altcoins when bitcoin is making another run and the alts are going down again. Or maybe this time there will be no bitcoin run for free money ;). Who knows?

Now is a good timing to buy alts, but do as much research as you can first. I started with 10 000€ not so long ago made some bad beginner choices...

To my mind there is still profit to be made from buying alts right now, or bitcoin to be made at least. Look to some coins that haven't pumped really hard but have good potential.

Most alt coins are now on its deepest dips. Buying with some portion of your fiat will make you secured of owning your chosen coin. May there be a new fork, you can then buy a few more. Since you are planning of holding long term, whatever it's price now, for sure you'll get a good profit. Time, waves and neoare good coins for may. You should consider holding more of this than other.

now is sort of an ok time to buy but YESTERDAY was much better.

Try to buy and HODL as many opportunities as possible in Altcoins. Buy dip and sell high, is a great strategy and commonplace in Crypto. And prepare mentally if at the time when the coin you buy down the price.

Yes almost all altcoin's price in terms of fiat is pumping hard right now as bitcoin price is correcting a little bit. So If I were you I will wait for atleast some correction on altcoin's price.

Also It will be better to invest those 10,000 USD you have in multiple altcoins along with bitcoin rather than investing all of them in one alt.
Hold 30% in bitcoin, 30% in fiat (USD to buy more alts when it will be dumped) and invest remaining 40% in different alts.

you may even be late for the purchase for altcoins. After all these "fork" rumors begin and the price of bitcoin started to rise, the value of the altcoins dropped very much.  so, many projects have already been worth more from prefork time.  the bitcoin will likely fall in the coming days. altcoins have even increased by 20% today. probably the coming days will go up even more. you could have done better with your purchases last week.

As soon as I confirmed that the snap shot of my Bitcoins stored in Bittrex was done, I immediately buy NEO after a few hours I made 10% for that trade. There are other Altcoins out there that has not moved yet after the fork so if you ask me if its a good time to Buy, I say Yes but do your own research on what to Buy, don't believe on anyone who says "this will pump any minute, Buy some ___" don't. Research and compare from others work.

Everyone same think , after bitcoin fork  they sell bitcoin gold and bitcoin  to buy altcoins ,that same happen on august 31th

still now alt coin price is more fall down have time yet you can buy best alt coin.Bitcoin start dumping but i think after hard fork it will be pumping again.I try to buy good alt coin in this time.

they may be pumping, but they're VERY low compared to where they were versus BTC (for the most part). So in a way you could say it's stil la good time to buy, but as has been said, another fork is coming in november, so be careful and keep that in mind.

My opinion it is your time to buy altcoin but not for long term , you should observe it not all altcoin good for invest only little can rise high.
But my suggest better you buy Bitcoin .

I also think bitcoin will do since you have up to $10,000 to invest. I guess you should divide it into two equal parts, then use $5k to invest on bitcoin because it has high potential for profit generating. Use the other part to invest in bitcoin.

Why buy altcoins when you could buy bitcoins? Indeed the price is high, but I suggest you wait until the fork happens to buy bitcoins. I believe this would be the best timing to buy as traders would dump their bitcoins and will result in low market cap, thus decreasing btc price. After that, you'll just have to wait for the next fork to sell your btc if you want to profit

I think the current price of coin is the lowest and you can buy it but I advise you if you buy coin now you can store it for a long time to 6-7 months then you have If you want to make a short surf in the next 1-2 weeks, the price of the market can fluctuate and the price of the coin. You can get back to the bottom again and it will be very difficult to recover quickly if you hold the coin through 2018 then the market will be stable and you can make a profit from it.

After read all advice, i think in the next several days bitcoin's price will go down, maybe my target price is about 5-5200. then i will buy some bit and wait for the next fork in November to buy alts. During that time i still watching all altcoin's 'price and buy some if it's a good chance. Is it a good idea?

As a bro said above, i will throw my money into a "portfolio"

30% for high cap coins
40% for midcap/or just to wait some chances
30% for low cap coins - which have so much potential

I would prefer to stay in bitcoin. Buy bitcoin when it goes down. Yeah maybe altcoin can be profitable now but I would choose for a long term one. Choosing a good alt is quite an experiment.  If you are having that much and wanting to invest in altcoins then I would recommend just one- eight of it. In addition, I think you are just attracted by the pump but you see altcoins are for short term profits. I would still go for bitcoin. Wait for it to go down then buy, once it goes up it would be huge.

Right now majority of the altcoins along with bitcoin looks going down in value. This can be used as an opportunity to invest into bitcoin as well other altcoins in a diversified manner. Also the popular altcoins too have declined in price, so investing into it surely helps in gaining profit after certain time period.

To me ark, lisk, waves and OmiseGo are pretty good for long term investment. NEO is also promising, but the degree of risk is slightly higher. Would also recommend DASH and Monera.Cannot comment on the rest- haven't researched that.

But that's my conclusions. You should stay cautious and remember that despite whatever we are saying you're making all of your investments at your own risk. So trust yourself

DO NOT BUY ONCE A COIN HAS ALREADY BEGUN PUMPING YOU ARE TO LATE!

This should be a lesson learned when my portfolio was all red when bitcoin price was hitting $6000k + I use that opportunity to buy some good altcoins ! and guess what I am taking a lot of profit on it ! I heard that there will be a fork on november I am not quite sure with it but when the price of bitcoin surge again use that opportunity to buy more good altcoins

I think what OP do you need to think about whether you want it to trade. If you don't know when to buy and when to sell coins you never to earn. You will always be the victim. It seems to me that the moment when you need to sell or buy coins, you need to feel. It needs to have a 6 sense. It is impossible to explain. Those who have this gift have earn. The rest will lose.

Dude it is true that all altcoins are already at their dip. But I would suggest to spare atleast half of your investment in BTC. So if you made a mistake from buying position in alts you can still save it by using average down using BTC.

Keep holding Because price will increase next years  and altcoin have future to be pumped like BTC 

If you are not in altcoin i will say is not late yet! Find the hottest altcoin to invest in! The obvious choice is ethereum and top 20 coin on coinmarketcap! Bitcoin is stable now it is time for altcoin to rise.

You need to buy now. This is the right moment to start investing in alt coins as most of them are taking a hit from the fork. Last I checked, most of the alt coins had negative numbers meaning that the price is drecreasing (especially neo and waves). I think this trend is going to continue for the whole week, so if you're not that desperate, you can want a few more days to see if the price keeps falling. I would recommend you to buy XMR and Dash, monero is one of those alt coins that is not overpriced and it could be a great invesment for the long term.

It might be good to wait until the next fork, which is in a couple weeks.  Someone correct me if I am wrong, but BTC seems to run-up prior to a fork and then ALTs take a huge hit.  ALTs then pop back up right after. 

Just like what everyone said, you have to do some research about the coins with the greatest potential. Afterwards, buy whatever token you've chosen because as of the moment, most of the coins are still at its lowest price due to the fork. This will be a good experience for you if you buy, you'll be more responsible and will try to do more research since you have a money at stake. Good  luck!

If you have or made some target price for buying coins and when you see it that the price for when you can buy teach that then buy it for when the time when that coin  make some pump then it is good the decision where you buy is all up to you you have the choice to do and adopt some comments.

I think that its really a good time to buy altcoins as most of people who have bought bitcoins are selling their altcoins to buy free BTG coins have started to sell their bitcoins and rebuy altcoins.So,now altcoins price is very low and soon it would increase more.

So,you could buy altcoins at their base price now and very soon,during another hard fork in november,their prices may start to drop once again.So,just buy now and sell just two or three days before the hard fork so that you would gain profits as well as you would be safe.

Yep, you are right. Most of people who knew about hardfork moved all their funds from altcoins => to BTC; Such step was done for increasing the BTC amount to gain "free" BTG and make profit on selling (or maybe holding, depends on personal strategy) it. 
After gaining profit on "free" BTG most of them bought much more altcoins than they had before and even bought them with a cheapest price. Good strategy. A bit risky. But in most cases it worths it.

But another good question is to choose which altcoins are worth to buy and hold;)

Well its up to you  if you buy now or wait. Just be aware of the coins that you buy . I think not all the coins you choose will have a high price because a price of a coin is varying, it means that it has a chance to go drop or to rise up its price. But then is up to you on what will you buy , just be updated in all the prices of the coins you buy for bettet long term ideas.

Well you kinda miss the train . When most of the alt coins were red that was the time to go all in. It was a really good opportunity to be honest. If I were you i wouldn’t make big investments a bit and wait to see how markets will settle.

As has been noted on this forum more than once, the best formula for investments is 70% to invest in bitcoin and 30% in altcoyins. And if you do not want to risk, then you need to invest in the old well-known altcoyins, and in little-known only if you are absolutely sure of such an investment.

My suggestion will be to diverse your portfolio in 60-40, I mean 60% should be BTC and 40% could be altcoin or altcoins.
The major diversification could be ETH, XMR, ETC , LISK , NEO.

These coins will definitely get you a great return by holding.

I will suggest you yes you can buy altcoins as they are at very lower rate as compared to it were in the month of may and june . always diversify your portfolio and hold some btc always too while holding altcoins..

now coming to your choices  (oax, time, link, eos, ark, lisk, waves, neo, xtrabytes,omg). I personally have  done research on (omg, waves,ark, eos,lisk,neo) they are solid projects . apart from that you can look into (strat, verge )

Well you already know the answer to your question to be honest, you saw that altcoins are starting to pump because of the fork has end. Better to buy altcoins as soon as possible in order to take advantage of its rising prices right now but make sure to invest on those good altcoins which has a good reputation to the blockchain community.

Get some quickly, the pump has just started and it will get bigger by the day. You can sell them after they pump and start to drop before the next bitcoin fork

ALTCOINS is pumping now and it is the right time to buy some of them. May be it will reach at peak and you will get good profit out of it.
So dont let to go this opportunity otherwise you will be in lose.
Now you can buy them at less investments and you will get huge profit when you sell them wisely.

Dude , firstly welcome to crypto world :D . Generally altcoins need some time. If you want to quick money, altcoins can disappointed you. I think you should wait to find perfect investment.

so you must do your own research and looking at strong projects and strong teams!

I never really expected bitcoin gold to amount to anything that much and I really took most of my chances on some prospectful altcoins believing that after the BTG fork, I will make more on profit that whatever forked chain value I will ever end up having on BTG.

So many of the coins have been pumped and I pretty much expect some to still pump the more and get dumped again for the upcoming fork, but for those who have not been able to buy at the dips, it is best they just wait for their turn cause now is too risky for some of them.

If the upcoming hard fork will affect the value of bitcoin I'm sure the value of alt coins will also be affected so I suggest you wait until the coming of fork and see whats gonna happen with the pricing you can do some research if you really want to invest now but I can't assure you will have a good earnings out of it. Still there is one more hardfork is happening in November 18 so that there is a high chance of going bitcoin some more high price may be upto 7k $ . Altcoin will dump for sure so it’s better to invest on altcoin around November 10 to 15 there will be huge dump of altcoin going to happen based on my speculation.

I think its a right time to buy alts since those are down due to bitcoin fork. I suggest you to invest in multiple alt coins and also buy bitcoin as much you can. This back to back fork is giving the opportunity to buy altcoins at best rate for all users. Already now all coins in red numbers, if we wait until November 15th then don't know for what price we will get our fav altcoins. But whenever the fork happens the altcoins price will dump so let's wait for sometime.

In my opinion, you should wait for few next weeks to invest. altcoins price continue fall down. If you can't wait, you could find some ICO projects buy tokens. Here are some tokens: Hydrominer, Gatcoin, Eidoo, Wepower,... Hope that you can choose a good coin.  ;)

I think buying before the 2x hard fork is a good idea. Many people are expecting bitcoin to drop off and money to flow towards alts when the fork occurs (that's because a lot of the market is staying on btc in the hopes of getting coins on both chains and selling them for profits).

Most especially now that the cloud is still not pretty clear with the upcoming fork. Almost all the people are still a bit scared to opt into altcoin yet with the fear of it still being dumped the more. I have a pretty feelings that some of them will still be pumped though, but for some already holding it, those pumps are just the best time to dump and buy more in the upcoming dip before the next fork.

Alt coin market is big fall down.Day by day just dumping all alt coin.Actually alt coin value is low so I think it is good time to buy alt coin.I hope after December alt coin market more up.

To be honest I am a fairly conservative investor and I prefer to go to the safe haven that represent the great coins like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and Ripple. It is true that its growth potential is not as high as many new currencies that suffer dramatic bumps of 10,000% in a few days, but the classic coins still have enough room to grow and leave great returns in the long run.

Well, it is good that you are looking into investing into promising ICOs. I do not see any problem with the couns you have mentioned. They re great because they have big potential. But i suggest you to not invest into these coons just yet because another fork is about to happen. So the best thing to do is to wait after the forks are done and then think of investimg.

There're hundreds of altcoins nowadays, so it's very difficult to predict which one will be pumped. If you decide to buy a coin and wait for a pump, it's better to buy them on Bittex and Yubbit. Most of pump groups have daily pumps on these too exchanges. Also try to select those coins that have small trading volume, and small price. So theoretically you can earn up to x10 and more if you buy a lucky coin :)

buy the rumour, sell the news. Look at what crypto's have new things coming the next weeks, buy them. And sell when you have enough profit. Examples for this week are Social coin, Equitrader (burning coins), and Viacoin (Always following Vertcoin)

Status Network Token (SNT) has been pumping for a couple of days and will continue to pump until DevCon3 and sometime after that. It's not too late to jump on the train :)

It's very hard to predict if the coin will get pumped and we didn't know what happens on the market but better to buy coins that are on the deepest stage like DGB, STEEM, NXT and BTS look at their price range within 4-6 months as you can see their value has go pumped so hard but dumped so hard too it's good to buy now because you're pretty sure that it will pump soon because their price are on the lowest stage so you're not going to be late on the pump stage of those coins better to hold it and be patience i think Bullish days are near for us.

Also Stellar has been DUMPED hard after a huuuge pump some months ago. If it will recover, it will be BIG.

Always buy on dip and not when it is pumping or already pumped. Do not ride the hype specially if you are a newbie. Know your coin, make sure it is not shit coin, then buy when it is dipping. That way you buy at the best price and can easily profit when it pumps back up. Do not worry there will be another red days for altcoins when we near bitcoin fork this next month.

Its depends on you sir , if u feel the coin will give u some profit or u see the coin price always stable , maybe u must buy on low price then i suggest u hold.
Because bitcoin price is too high , maybe u must wait hardfork on november and the altcoin price will pump , i guess.

I don't understand, you people. When the coins are pumping, you want to buy but when their price is falling down, you will sell. What is your mantra? Buy high and sell low? Try to shape up. When there is red tide and everything is falling down, buy because they come with a cheap price. But when it is pumping, be careful because it will be followed with a dip in price.

i will wait a bit and buy when the market is blood. just read every chart and wait for a retracement. if your just an investor read some of their project. twitter,reddit,youtube is useful to look for a potential coin. Alts will pump soon

Alts are really cheap now because everyone is dumping alt money into BTC for the fork. Just pick a bunch with actual use cases and active communities. I would recommend Ethereum for sure - in addition Waves, NEO, Monero, Verge, and Ark all have great potential.

When I checked the altcoin market today, most of them are in a free fall. Meaning, the price of most of these altcoins is dropping by 1%-4%. This implies that it is safe to buy some of these altcoins now IF and ONLY IF you are going to take a long-term investment.  For example, waves has an estimated 8.5% price drop today to $3.16. If you want to buy this now, you should not do the day trading because altcoins are just like stocks and other assets that need longer time for its price to grow.

Keep in mind that in crypto-trading, the best way to earn is to take a long-term investment. Remember that there's no such thing as QUICK, INSTANT, or FAST MONEY. For me, you should buy now since the prices are pretty low now.

There will be some more dump till november 18 in altcoin so you can divide your fund and slowly start to invest on high potential coins . After segwit2x fork finished there should be a huge pump in altcoin.

Basing on my studies here in the crytocurrency  world I would like to suggest on what will you do about your money here. If you buy ethereum now you can keep it for a while and the next step is you need to wait for example the ethereum decreases wait for the rate if ethereum increase so thats the time you trade it for money that increases as well.

So you got that money $ 10, 000 you will use that to get buy ethereum and for eth wait the rate to increase and sell it and lets say you will  now have $ 11, 000

Altcoins are pumping because bitcoin is also pumping and at this moment buying alts for me is not a good idea and better buy when the price goes down so you can assure yourself of getting good profit otherwise with this value alts are having you will have difficulty in earning much because you must need for another pump in value to take place.
