Title: [WTS] 500Gh/s BFL ASIC unit
Post by: jamesg on June 10, 2013, 04:00:05 PM
Hello fellow bitcoiners,

It has come to my attention that there are multiple BFL customers with early orders who would like to part with some of their 500Gh/s units. The reasons are numerus, from not having enough power to run the units to some wanting to not have to deal with mining.

I would like to get a feeling from the community if any of you are interested in purchasing these units.

My roll in this is strictly as a broker / escrow / single point of contact for handling all queries and sales.

The 500Gh/s units are offered at $150k $125k 1100 BTC $30k each to be paid in BTC.

If you have any questions, you can ask them by PM or in this thread.

Best,
James

150k seems ridiculously steep... When are they available?

I hate to put dates on BFL delivering, but it seems like a couple weeks. All monies exchanged would be held in escrow until delivery.

This post is to gauge interest. If you think $150k is steep, what seems reasonable considering imminent delivery.

This price is well over 25% under what ASICminer 12Gh/s blades are selling for.

Its been imminent for over a year  ;D If I had the cash though I would be straight in with an offer, not the $150k prob around the $120-130 mark.

I really would just keep them, in years to come BTC will be worth millions. IMO  8)

with avalon sample chips been delivered, market will be flooded with cheap asics boards in two months max. You need to wake up, people pays 20K usd for 1.2 tera hash of Bitfury. I give you 40K with delivery in 3 weeks, if you not deliver pay penalties 1 % per day.

ASICminer blades were the high point and something that went high due to them being immediately available.

Price is dropping due to huge difficulty spikes now.

Look to around 80k for an early order which gives a chance of profit for the buyer and an upside for the seller at current USD value.

What's the power draw on a MR 500GH? Will it plug into a 10amp wall point? or does it need 16amps?

Cheers,
QG

Hi!

I made the following calculation:

6 Avalon Clones at 85 GH/s each -> >500 GH/s
6 Avalon Clones at a price of 7.5 k USD -> 45 k USD
Delivery end of August ... meaning roughly 70 days ...

Mining with 500 GH/s at difficulty of 45 M weighted (currently 19 M + continuous raises until end of August) will get you:
Code:
Hash rate:    500.00G hash/sec
Difficulty:   45000000.0 - currently: 19339258.3
Value:        $110.850/BTC
Time/block:   4.5 days
BTC/Day: ฿   5.59 $/Day: $  619.41
BTC/Wk.: ฿  39.11 $/Wk.: $ 4335.89
BTC/Mo.: ฿ 169.87 $/Mo.: $18830.16
This would be 70 * 5.59  = 391.30 BTC (or 43358.70 USD)

Original price (32 k USD / 3 = 10,66 K USD - because it is not 1.5 TH/s it is only one of three machines) + mining until end of August -> 43369.36 USD

Everything around 50 k USD would reflect a fair price IMHO ... paying more than that is probably ripping of Newbie's.

Sooo ... where did I go so wrong with my math? The 150 k USD price tag must be a fair price .... or not?  ::)

All the best!

Here are a few reasons.

1. power efficiency long term
2. risk of delay
3. resale value the day avalon clones come online should be at least 45k

Questions?

Post by: rustyh17 on June 20, 2013, 06:30:36 PM
My single biggest reason for pricing a MR500 today at $150K is that this rig
cost $30K/3 = $10K each back when BTC was about $10. This 500GH mini
rig cost 1,000 BTC.

Past Opportunity Cost
=====================================================
To truly be made whole from an opportunity cost standpoint, a JUN/12
1.5TH/s mini rig purchaser would need to recover 1,000 BTC equivalent
for each 500GH/s mini rig. At today's prices those 1,000 BTC would be
$110K.

Future Opportunity Cost
=====================================================
Now a 500GH/s mini rig purchaser needs to decide whether there is a
future opportunity cost they may be giving up by selling their rig. Who
knows? Maybe a number of good things all happen coincidentally? What if
BTC goes to $500 each? What if Avalon drops the ball? What if KNC is
late by 6 months? What if? What if? What if?

Giving up the mini rig means giving up a future of being able to mine BTC
effectively (or at least better than the majority of the rest of the miners).
If BTC went to $ 5,000 each and mini rig still could mine 0.1 BTC/day, it
would continue to be a windfall.

To me, that means Giga wants to recover his past opportunity cost and
give some allowance to lost future opportunity cost. To him, that represents
fair. If someone wishes to relieve Giga of his past + future opportunity and
absorb that risk themselves, then someone will click the BUY IT NOW button.

Disclaimer: I have a mini rig pre-order myself though much further down the
time line. I am a geek engineer that would need a LOT of persuasion to give
up the opportunity to hash at 1.5TH/s. :)

Edit: By the way, these are just my opinions. I do not speak for Giga in any
       way. Further, I do not mean this as some sort of lecture. It was just a
       possible definition of "fair value" from a seller's perspective.
