Title: Recovering Multibit Wallet
Post by: mcsteely on October 24, 2017, 05:00:55 PM
A few years ago I bought some BTC from a Bitcoin ATM but inadvertently sent it to a Multibit wallet on laptop that had been stolen. It wasn’t much money at the time so I cursed my mistake and moved on but would like to try and recover that wallet now.

I’ve seen Multibit has since stopped being supported. Will it be possible to recover this wallet? I’ve got the private key and a code word phase about 17 or 18 words long.

I’ve tried to restore through electrum wallet but think perhaps it might pre-date the BIP 32 seeds it asks for as I set up the original wallet in 2014.

Are there any other up to date wallets I can use to try and recover?

If you have the private keys for the address where the funds are as you claim, you should be able to recover it easily. Since you already have Electrum installed, Go to Wallet => Private keys => Sweep and paste the private keys there.
