Absolutely yes,I have been discriminated by my collegues because of marital status and being an atheist . These kind of discrimination is very painful and It is really hard to keep calm against this kind of humiliating behaviours. People are not respectful to so-called odd ones in workplaces. This is insane.

I was actually discriminated by my workmates before and it bugs me every time. They make me feel that I don't deserve the position I have so they bully me about my skin color and religion. It sickens me and I just get the feeling that I don't want to go back to work. People are so intolerable.

When I was working abroad for my internship, people started to see that I was really doing well and started calling me names like mexican chinese and filipino rat. They actually threatened me with department. I wasn't even afraid because my boss actually sees my success and doesn't let me get bullied.

I was fortunate enough not to be discriminated until now about any of the above mentioned reason, however I've heard and know people who have been and these people are a great reminder to all of us that these problems are still present in our "advanced society" we all have to speak up if we see something wrong happening either in our work space or out in the street. It concerns all of us, in this world, one day, will walk your children, and the children of theirs - do you want to leave things as they are for them? We have to act as a big family and recognize that people are different, and it's part of humanity to be different and that's okay. If you have issues at works regarding these issues make sure to inform your supervisor or human resources, they will be happy to assist you with any sort of discrimination.

Discrimination not only happens in our work place, school, organization, community but in every aspects of our lives.
The major reason of our discrimination its because we let other people belittled us and mis understand us.They don't know the life we our living, they don't know we are experiencing a great trouble in life.they just only see and react the way we act and moved with a little mistake and then judge us just like that.

yes I have. Treating me differently to an older worker,  Inappropriate language to describe me, Refusal to pay me the national minimum wage, Imposing a job requirement that is too hard for me to meet, Dismissal of me on the basis of age. If someone looks younger than he or she is, and is discriminated against on this basis, this could be unlawful.

yes, I have experienced discrimination in my workplace because of my age and my education, my co-workers underestimated the credibility of my work simply because they are more senior and college than I am a high school graduate.
I think it's all because I work better than them, all the ways and technical work that I do more efficiently than their work system, they become jealous because the company leader to prefer and respect me in the company.

Yes. But I overcame it by working hard and thus being better than everybody else. In the end people only care about achieving the best possible results with the least amount of input. If you're more productive than everybody else, nobody will give a shit about who you are or where you came from. If nothing helps just leave the company and find another or start your own. Pretty simple.

But it's easier to blame lack of success on discrimination instead of putting in effort and taking charge of your own life, so people keep playing the victim card.

I would immediately fire anyone who goes that route without being able to clearly state what sets them apart from other employees.

So far I haven't experience any kind of discrimination in my work, my colleagues are all good to me, always supports me and trying to help and guide me in the best way they can. We respect each other and their belief, I guess that's the reason why there's no discrimination at all.

Yes I experienced discrimination at work because of my physical disability. Well, I don't actually consider it as disability but an imperfection. They discriminate me because of my skin tone. I have a tanned skin and they tease me about it. However, I can't still blame them in this world who based the beauty of a person through it's skin tone. I'm still thankful for having it. God gave me this for a reason. I'm not perfect though.

No, I live in a majority area, which means there is almost no difference between me and them. We live in harmony, we work together, happy together, share together. There was never any discrimination between us. There's even a friend of mine who is deaf but we do not mind that, we are good friends with him.

Yes,  because of my educational attainment. Not being able to pass the board exam was hard for me,  especially at work where some of my workmates did.  Even if i have more experience or older than them i was still mistreated because i haven't passed the board.  I feel descriminated whenever they talk about non passers.

In our growing society, the more competition we have in this society, it requires us to become better and smarter, but when we go to work at a company, old years employees discriminate us. They do not want new people to take over their jobs in the future, and this leads to jealousy and discrimination in the work.

Discrimination is everywhere. People discriminates others on the basis of skin color, religion, caste (which is the #1 factor here) and language. I have experienced a lot of discrimination (at least during the initial days) at my office but then I would also say that I have also engaged in discrimination (although not consciously) against a few of my co-workers.

I do experience discrimination from my former office mates. First, because of my forehead and light skin tone they always say that i look so pale or even look like a vampire. Second, because of being skinny. Last, because i'm a newly graduate student when i apply to that company. They even underestimate you if your not a graduate from popular universities.

I am constantly discriminated because of my sex. Because I am a man, nobody  is smiling at me, they are all smiling at the women. Also, nobody is inviting me out for dinner, which again happens to the women very frequently. And the women can dress like a man and if they do they get even more respected but if I dress as a woman I don't get more respected at all. We have to do something against this discrimination at work.

I got discriminated because of being pregnant out of wedlock.. in order for me not to lose my job, i got married but it only end up to separation. And also i felt discriminated because of my age. I become head of our program and since all of my subordinates are older than me, they used to undermine me.. they dont follow my instructions and used to continue the wrong things that they are doing before..and its very hard to handle them because they think that i dont have the ability to become their boss.

I really think this happens all the time and any where. There's always discrimination at work, school, public and anywhere you go. People will always be bias same thing goes for us, we may not be aware but we discriminate and we are bias sometimes. I guess there's no cure for this because it's part of our nature to discriminate others and feel bad if we experience the things that we do to others.

Yes, I have experienced it in the past. Most people in my past work are judgemental, specially when it comes to your race. They often make fun of people who did not originate from their society because of other peoples appearance and how they speak. I am a Filipino, and my past officemates always make fun of me whenever I speak english specfically because of my filipino accent. We must never criticize anyone because of their appearance and personality, in a workspace we should be mature and professionals .

Oh yes I have. The most blatant case was when I worked for small business in town. I had the most horrific woman as a boss. You would not believe some of the stuff that came out of her mouth. I don't even dare putting it here but it was about AA women and men. I also saw some discrimination against women when working for a traditional good size company. It was pretty clear where the glass ceiling was.

there is always a discrimination whenever we went may it be in work in or in school racial discrimination, gender, sin color economic status, they are everywhere and it s not easy to confront them and depend yourself. it takes a lot of courage and understanding to be able to deal with them. regardless of all these discrimination as long as you know yourself and your're confident with what you are, where you are and how you raise you need not to worry lift your head held high and walk and smile and be happy.

My sex that is representing me as a woman is sometimes a reason for my discrimination in the work. Everyone thinks women are just a joke in all kinds of work fields and that they cant do better. Men think they have the power over every woman out there and that their knowledge is better but we live in 21 century and every woman has equal rights. I am fighting this discrimination and I suggest to all out there who have been discriminated that they must make a stand for themselves and fight back.

Don't mind anything around you, your job is to work for your boss and to earn money and not to talk with your office mates or think about what they are feeling or what they are doing.

I never experience that thing, and I don't care either, it would just distract you in what you are doing. Those who loves to look at their office mates and talk about them would lead to lesser performance.

In our growing society, the more competition we have in this society, it requires us to become better and smarter, but when we go to work at a company, old years employees discriminate us. They do not want new people to take over their jobs in the future, and this leads to jealousy and discrimination in the work.
I really hate this kind of discrimination.they use this seniority card to be above everyone else and also do wrong things even at work. You cannot confront them because they might get back at you. Sad reality isn't it. They are easily threatened because fresh grads can overtake them.

Yes. Because of my life status. It's hard to word. Due to your needs and wants in life's you are commanded to do work. You just rotate your status in life. You want to experience to be lucky. Because of that experience you fill self pity. The people will discriminate you because of what they see and what they want to say. To make themselves satisfied. To make themselves happy. You work mates bully you and you fill more discriminate because of them.
Discrimination is not good in the work place. Maybe it is normal in our lives.

There should be no discrimination in a work-place as long as the
involved employee is hardworking and a reliable tool that delivers
on the values of employment. Isolation can only be allowed
on the ground of health concerns. If an employee has a terminal sickness
or diseases that may be contagious.Such staff may be contained by isolation.
It is not discrimination, it is isolation we may call it due to ill health issues.

On topic: I have never been discriminated, but I'm in the mainstream somewhere. A white young male, moderately attractive, rather fit, heterosexual, libertarian atheist. Can't really touch that and if you try, don't think that I will care. I've also never discriminated anyone. I tend to let others live their lives as they like. I have my opinions but I don't really go around telling others how to live, even if I don't approve of them.

They don't have the right to discriminate their staff to the extent they will cry, that's why some people are getting killed on their way to their houses... If you know hat I mean, but I never do such things, when I was discriminate I only pretend it doesn't happen and let go, people have their own way of releasing their jealousy, one is this, so if they discriminate you it means they are just insecure.

Well, they really need to be treated nicely in the office in certain times, just like when there are tasks that are harder for them to accomplish, like lifting heavy objects or running fast to the other branch, then men should do that. However, when it comes to performance, it should be fair.

In where I work, there is not much discrimination as we don't have redundant tasks, each has his/her own things to do. But on my job before, there is this favoritism, some of those suckers are favored over us who work hard and not that near the kitchen(boss's office)

Such as that my views are not listened to, or that it takes a more senior person or man to reiterate exactly what I have said for someone to go, "ohhhhhh, excellent idea, well done"  ::) Also, many borderline sexual advances that were certainly not appropriate.

It breeds contempt simply because they're of a different race than you. It sucks to be discriminated against but it is far more sucky to gove prejudice. After that it just leaves me feeling disgusted about my self. You become this person that is very subjective when deciding and more or less out of focus.

You can not avoid mistakes because you don't have enough knowledge yet about your new job. Regular workers should teach you and guide you at the beginning because you are new. But no, instead they are talking to you when you are not around. Annoying, but you can't do anything about it because you're new. All criticism will experience in your first weeks in your new job.

Especially in an international company where people from different countries work together and different races could be the boss of their own, a few people become attached to their own nationality and tend to hate on the other. It really hurts camaraderie in the comoany especially on a specific department.

a person who has just entered a company's environment may receive discriminatory treatment from those who are already senior or fairly senior in a company. this is what I have experienced, very annoying but I can overcome this.

I wouldn't even call it as discrimination. When we normally talk about discrimination, we probably mean the hostility based on ones race, religion or skin color. Discrimination based on seniority may arise from the lack of job security for the people who hold senior positions.

Becouse it is generally unlawful to discriminate against a person in the workplace on the following grounds.           Becouse of your Race
Becouse of your Sex
Your Sexual orientation
Your Age
Your Physical or mental disability
Your Marital status
While your Pregnancy
Your Religion

Yes, for a couple of times because of my physical appearance or to be specific, because of my height. I am petite and short that my former co workers use it to discriminate me at work but what I did was I used it as a motivation to perform better. I am their manager now and they are respecting me because of my position.

Op you should post a story of how you faced discrimination, else it looks like you copied and pasted a list of what discrimination is.

Discrimination exists every where. I have experienced it once, since I just graduated and most people in our office are senior employees, they take advantage of giving me extra tasks since I am just new in the company. I talked to them that they should be fair because even if I am just new in the company, we are all of the same status, we are all employees.

Your right with most of it but I think the physical or mental disability and age is not. Not about discromination but sad to say, some work won't really fit you with those three. If work requires physical aspects it will be hard to give a quality of work.

For example, being a crane operator while having a parkinson's disease brought by aging. Not just by performance but compromising the safety of other workers and yours.

Again it's not discrimination but being fit for work.
