Title: Electroneum - PC mining?
Post by: achillez on October 26, 2017, 03:53:18 AM
So it seems this is a sketchy coin trying to promote mobile mining (when PC mining would be far more effective). Anyone know if they plan to release the PC mining code ahead of time, or are they keeping it to themselves?

Right now to themselves. They don't want anyone forking it just yet.

Why is this in the Bitcoin section?

The Electroneum mobile miner is an 'experience' miner - ie: not really mining. So it won't kill the battery, etc,etc like real mining would.

I understand they will do the mining centrally and distribute the coins as they please -

It is not real mining on the mobile phone, and i doubt you can mine electroneum on PC cause it is the mobile app that gives you a feeling that you are mining and it is strictly for android phones, maybe ios too. It is working like faucets but in the way that app will mobile work.

How about an mining on an Android emulator on a PC?
That should work, should it not?

Yep. I cannot say for sure if they will succeed in drawing a lot of average people into the cryptospace through the mobile miner, but the fact it's simulated mining and the coins will come from the pre-mined reserve has been explained a thousand times in different threads.

It looks like POS or maybe more like POW POS lol.
Simulation of mining would be close enough.

They are promoting mobile mining in the future to gather public attention so that everyone can mine coins through their phone and collect coins. For me its an effective strategy because everyone has an opportunity to invest digital currency that can be mined anytime and anywhere.

They just released it. Along with all their files and stuff. Works on mac, pc, etc.
I'm going to mine for a bit just to see what it is. And who knows. Mining for a little bit might bring me a few spending bucks XD

I may be paranoid but I will never put such software on my phone. Where is the guarantee that this is not a spy? You will pay a few cents per day but will have full control over your device. Long found a vulnerability of Android. You give yourself the ability to access your accounts. Is it worth it? In 99% of cases people are to blame for the fact that hackers gain access to their accounts. I think this is a similar case.

Yes
It works well now

Network Hashrate increases very fast at 3.28MH/s now
About 7 kH/s on that pool to mine some coins before difficulty goes to high...

So far-very frustrating, no wonder peeps are dropping out.
uspool stats-nothing shows in 8hr. where did that work go?
eupool- shows much less than it supposed to have.
With current network params and rewards, two RX 580 (no overclocking) should produce roughly 17 ETN/hr.
I see about a third of that. Pending ETN does not correlate with work already done.

uspool has to payback what they did not deliver so far. They collected the hashes.

Do not mine this kind of scams. Electroum is huge scam. If you want spend time mining then mine bitcoins. Dont wast your time altcoins that will be worth of nothing.

Just a quick question : the official pools seem to pay out from 100 ETN, is it right ? I actually mined 9.5 ETN and the difficulty has really increased since yesterday so I don't know if it's still profitable. Thank you

Is USpool actually finding blocks or have I wasted 24 hours mining on there. It seems like the site just isn't updating, but who knows? I can't find any answers from developers anywhere. I guess I'll go to easyhash until they get it straightened out.

I have just downloaded their mining software (i have not CPU or GPU mined in YEARS)..

I have a VERY old laptop, stuck my wallet addy in, selected low end CPU, Europe pool, on starting 'connecting to Cryponight Algorythm popped up for a millisecond then that just disappeared, then blank ?? Also selected one thread.

Electroneumpoolminer.exe *32 (i have windows 7 64 bit) is running in the background and using 60% CPU power ???

Anyone got any ideas ?

Thanks  ??? ???

for now its just testing, we dont know what will be the outcome ill try do
do it for 3 days and see what is the result, will tell you if its profitable
or not, hash is ok and low power consumption so we give it a try

I avoid putting software from newly released cryptocurrencies on any of my devices that store my wallets of "proven" currencies, just out of habit. I'm not sure if I'll mess with Electroneum at all, but I still think it's worth looking into, and not necessarily malicious.

Download it from ETN site mate , it will be in PDF format, starts with ETN, it is a split into 3 groups of letters/numbers, be careful when copying it as it may leave a 'space' between them.

From the video interviews they've posted on their twitter page (twitter.com/electroneum), it appears that the mobile mining part of their project is only a "fake" mining process which only simulates actually hashing/mining. According to them, they designed it to introduce cryptomining to regular people. It won't pay out much, but mobile mining will pay higher than regular PC mining. I guess we also have to wait and see until they release more information.

You can't mine directly to Cryptopia, there are many warnings against doing this on the site. Those coins are lost forever, next time read the warnings and mine to a personal wallet instead.

on my own i'm using suprnova ETN pool to mine on with my rigs because you don't need personal ETN wallet to mine to on suprnova unlike all other pools.
You mine straight to suprnova pool wallet and then withdraw directly to cryptopia, the best and only working way to mine ETN for now...

Theorically, I think it would work, why not? But it's an old OS, so... I don't know...
Anyway, be careful, it's an old OS and no longer has updates (except the embedded one).
