Title: Bitcoin Is Not The Best? But...
Post by: iamTom123 on October 27, 2017, 10:44:53 AM

We are into the barrage of new ICOs almost everyday...there are new versions of Bitcoin, new idea of a cryptocurrency and sometimes also strange projects which can be hard to fathom and let alone swallow intellectually.

There are those who believe that actually Bitcoin is not the best cryptocurrency though it is the first and the original. Others are pointing the problem of the Bitcoin network consuming a huge load of electricity to power up its mining operation...this can be a big problem not just in terms of cost but also because we are now entering the green revolution (a solution is of course using renewable power supply).

Bitcoin is not really so anonymous which give rise to Monero or Bytecoin, coins performing much better along this realm. We also have the powerful miners having such a great influence and decision control over the community. Compared to Ethereum or even XEM, we still have to see a myriad of extra utilities  or features which can convey to us that indeed Bitcoin is the future.

With all of these problems (or maybe we can call them as challenges), Bitcoin will still be the most important and the top cryptocurrency primarily because it has the largest or the biggest or the most widespread or the most dynamic network of acceptance. Do you agree?

At the moment Bitcoin has Cryptocurrency Market Capitalization Dominance: 57.2%. And that's versus ALL of the other thousands of coins. Bitcoin serves it's purpose as a secure digital currency with a immutable ledger. I also think as great features evolve in crypto, Bitcoin was absorb these sort of things to grow even stronger.

I see Bitcoin as the promisor and the revolutionary of this industry, and I have no doubts that it will be the coin with the biggest market cap for years. But bitcoin came to offer a new way to make payments all around the world fast and secure, and of course with a low fee to everybody. I also don't believe bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency because there are a lot of good projects with so many things new and doing the same thing as bitcoin and even more. Unfortunately Bitcoin is a POW coin and only people with much money can mine it (now) profitable and I think this is the only problem with it.

Bitcoin is not the best but in my opinion it will last a long time in the future. Because it is recognized around the world, in limited quantities, bitcoin is becoming increasingly scarce, causing its value to increase. This makes bitcoin always the number one.

What is anyone's definition of best?

There might be faster coins out there. Are they as secure? There might be coins with more capacity. Could they handle full capacity 24/7 for years on end without breaking? Bitcoin can. I doubt people want to test it out again with other coins.

its true, bitcoin proved her self and stability although sometimes price comes down still having its way up and being noticed because of big increase from the tome it goes down.and bitcoin need no reason to go in test.coz for how many years.it was tested and tried and still dominating supremacy over all the coins in crypto.

I think the power consumption won't be a problem for bitcoin. As soon as the electricity deficit will be easy to increase the size of the unit and increase the number of transactions. It does not suit the miners, but if it becomes a question of profitability then the problem will be solved easily. All interested in the existence of bitcoin. Science is also not standing still and will be found technologies that reduce the consumption of the amount of computing power remains the same or even increase.

This is just an elaborate way of phrasing "Bitcoin will be popular, because it's popular".  Something being popular now does not dictate what will happen in the future.  It is the most instantly recognisable cryptocurrency which the public are more aware of, but this does not have to continue forever and it's not particularly strong.

What makes BTC relevant is that it's the basis for the development of other cryptocurrencies.  Some new cryptocurrencies bring new suggestions and purposes to blockchain technology, but they are usually for a very specific purpose, whereas Bitcoin is the general basis for all of this - hence the claim that it is a "master crypto".

Furthermore, these new cryptos with specific purposes tend to be quite experimental - they are just testing the waters to find what could potentially be practical.  BTC doesn't need to add all these new features and that's what makes it the most secure.

Bitcoin is amazing! I am very glad that I knew it way back then. My free time is more senseful than before. I can gain some income through bitcoin, I hope. Atleast I can have some additional money compare in playing video games. I feel that I am just wasting money on that even it gives happiness and fulfillment to many people right there. Maybe bitcoin is not the best but it changes the way I live in many ways.

the "best" does not exist in the world we live in. if anyone wants "the best" they have to move to an alternate universe where unicorns fly above.

Bitcoin is not really so anonymous which give rise to Monero or Bytecoin, coins performing much better along this realm.

the average Joe has proven so far that they do not care about more anonymity than what bitcoin is offering them. otherwise we would have been using Moreno in all the shops not bitcoin and cash.

i am not that familiar with XEM but ethereum doesn't really have any "utility or feature" apart from smart contracts. and it is idiotic to even begin to compare eth (a token) with bitcoin (a currency) if you ask me.

In terms of giving us a good returns and as form of investment, bitcoin is the only way to go. There's no such thing in altcoin that can challenges the dominance of bitcoin and never will. Those coins like Monero as more anonymous than bitcoin I believed that, but if you are not into illegal activity then bitcoin will be a perfect fit for you. Those coins that are truly anonymous is still behind bitcoin and other altcoins because they are not being used as designed. Everyone is onto bitcoin right now.

Bitcoin is the biggest and best currency out there, there yes it's true that some alts have done well but Bitcoin is the king and true King of the crypto world, I don't really like any other coins and don't consider them real coins to. Which system doesn't have a problem, to say banks is safe then why does card cheats happen, why does banks go bankruptcy, Bitcoin has its flaws but yet it's the best much better than any other coin, it's market cap and returns speak for it self.

YES, I agree that there are more promising, faster and anonymous, safer crypto currency in comparison with bitcoin. Perhaps in the near future we will see a crypto-currency reform, in which a stronger currency will push bitcoin from the throne. But within 2-5 years bitcoin will still grow. ::)

For me, bitcoin is the best, because it is the first and most improve crytocurrency. Now, the price of bicoin is still increasing and i'm sure this will continue untill this thing become the most powerful currency in the world. No coin can surpass bitcoin in being number one and in becoming popular.

Indeed as the popularity of and demand for online currencies increases since the inception of bitcoin in 2009, with a such an unregulated person to person global economy that cryptocurrencies offer has displayed a marked lack of regulation that attracts many users who seek decentralized exchange and use of currency.

yes but bitcoin is the king as of now bitcoin is holding the largest market cap in all crypto currencies and ethereum just second and other alts, but some point in time bitcoin will be over taken by some coin it might be the supersede of bitcoin when a successful fork happens or just a powerful altcoin that is accepted by the market faster than bitcoin..

No one knows for sure. Yes, there are currencies that are anonymous, safer, but they beat out bitcoin? ... Something grand must happen, so that the credibility of bitcoin as the most famous and widespread crypto currency would be eroded, and all would sharply buy that coin that would be better bitcoin ... But I can not yet name the currency that is capable of this.

Now, the price of Bitcoin is rising steadily and I believe it will continue until it becomes the world's most powerful currency. No coin can beat Bitcoin, and Bitcoin is number one and is becoming popular.

Everyone has its own reasons and criteria to say that something is good or best or not. If you looking for the highest value and acceptance in “real world” then Bitcoin is the best. If you are looking for high level of anonimity then it’s not, there are better like Monero.
But all reasons aside Bitcoin has achieved what no other coin have and probably even won’t. This status and position in cryptocurrencies world will be very hard to achieve. After a while not so big number of cryptocurrencies like we have now will survive but Bitcoin will definetely be one of survivors and will be on the top of the list of powerful cryptocurrencies that have changed the finances forever.

I also believe that bitcoin will always be number one in the world of cryptocurrency. But it seems to me that bitcoin is very much loses with the Fiat because of the fact that we are not able to buy everything with bitcoin. Everyone is forced to change bitcoin to Fiat. This creates additional complexity in its use and we have additional costs. Believe that these problems will soon be solved.

To see all things, one of the most I believe that about electricity it I don't think it will have a pretty serious problem. Because all countries already have a level of professionalism in organising and making inventories would be sure and green revolution. one thing so the problem is not the technology but rather the level of electric capacity bitcoin which I think would be a problem major later in the day. Because when the bitcoin has started the famous and widely-used definitely need large capacity.

Exactly. Bitcoin is the most widespread crypto, the one that has survived the most to malicious attacks, from the media, from international corporations, even from its own community, yet it has remained dominant. But, Popular =/= Best, compared to altcoins, Bitcoin is lacking some development. For example, anonymity, you can't compared Bitcoin to let's say Monero, the latter offers way better security to the user, yet it isn't the most well known or accepted alt coin in the market. It's true that BTC holds the largest market cap and a 57% dominance on the market, but i think Bitcoin could definitly learn a thing or two from some altcoins.

Electricity is the matter for the everyone in bitcoin and altcoin mining. There should be high electricity for the mining since the high volt PSU and high range mining being used. You may check the green energy sufficient country to start mining. Every third world country will not be bear to supply electricity since the cost of electricity is higher those locations. Go with the solar energy to get the proper income for the bitcoin miner.

Everything needs a standard for it to be recognize as a whole and that what has bitcoin done for the cryptocurrency. So even there are features that other coins have that bitcoin doesn't it is still considered the best because those altcoins are depending on bitcoin to for its value. remember if bitcoin is down altcoins goes down too. And you cannot cash out altcoins without first turning it into btc and that reason alone is enough to name bitcoin the best.

Bitcoin will most likely stay on top just because it is the first and most trusted. People won't just suddenly have the idea to drop out from bitcoin at the same time, as long as the price is fluctuating, bitcoins market will keep sustaining itself. Yes you are right that bitcoin is not the best at everything, and that's good, that means we have a lot to improve. All these coins you've mentioned are good at their specific purposes, and having these coins alongside bitcoin would help develop cryptocurrencies as a whole.

The failure of Bitcoin on various fronts is the basis of invention of new coins. Suppose if Bitcoin would perfect coin then could we see such huge number of coins as being created every other day?
But keeping all factors aside, Bitcoin will be first cryptocurrency forever and no other coin could take that title from it. Therefore it attracted first mover advantage and such a big community. I doubt if any other coin could work perfectly without the problem of scalability if used on such large scale. So it's wrong to compare other coins with Bitcoin when other coins are being used on very low scale compare to what Bitcoin does.

I agree that Bitcoin isn’t the best cryptocurrency but it had a big advantage being the first. It’s hard to differentiate the hundreds of other coins to the point that there is a consensus for the one that should take over as leader. It may never happen because people have different opinions about which one is best. By default, Bitcoin will have a higher market cap for the foreseeable future. Name recognition plays a major role in its success.

Yes bitcoin is the top most cryptocurrency of this world this is just because of people faith and believe in it people invest into it just because the profit rates are so high and the deliverance is also at the top that’s why there is more trend in investing into bitcoin and in short those who are asking it is not best they must be haters and bitcoin will answer them with the price in future so wait and watch for the war.

There might be faster coins out there. Are they as secure? There might be coins with more capacity. Could they handle full capacity 24/7 for years on end without breaking? Bitcoin can. I doubt people want to test it out again with other coins.

Exactly. Also these coins that claim to be faster require so many more than 6 confirmations with any wallet so what's the real benefit?

Agree. Bitcoin dominates the market in the next few years.
Although there are some promising positive altcoins, it can positively provide a balance in market players to invest. It's a good thing, so people need bitcoin as a price benchmark.

Oh yeah, I agree! It is not hard to agree on this. Bitcoin is the first among a sea, hell, an ocean of cryptocurrencies. It is therefore expected that those who followed will have to install what has been missed by the first comer. Those that will follow will upgrade what is considered lacking or weak features of the earliest comer. But then again, no one can beat the first. And you are right that there are so many establishments already that accept bitcoin.

Bitcoin is solid. It is the pioneer, and is pretty much what everything else is based on. Other coins may add features, but they also typically alter or remove a few others. This is why there are no existing coins out there that can be said to be completely better than Bitcoin. Even if there were, Bitcoin is honestly more than a sum of its parts. It has already emerged as a sound investment and a good storage of value and while other coins may beat it in terms of technology, it will be hard to usurp Bitcoin's throne in that aspect.

All of these coins only have value of we deem it to, and in a world where Bitcoin is the most valuable, it's also the best.

I agree that bitcoin will dominate the world in terms of crypto currency acceptance because people who don't use or know bitcoin think that either it's a ponzi scheme and hardly people know that there are other cryptos except than bitcoin also.
Mining is so costly and is not environment friendly unfortunately, one of it's biggest drawbacks.

i think bitcoin is still the best for me, for investing or for searching money with trading in daily because I can be able to make money by doing trading and other things related with bitcoin. there is no excuses for me to not say that bitcoin is the best, the reality bitcoin opportunity is wide open than the other investments like gold which we need to buy gold in some amount. but the disadvantages from bitcoin is we can not use our bitcoin in offline store in around us and we can only use in internet only.

Currently bitcoin is the only best cryptocurrency in the market.
It acquires more than 50% share in crypto market.
Bitcoin is a blessing to the economy its totally new, secured, timely way of making payments all round the world, It has proven this since its introduction.
It is not only a medium of exchange but also a good tool of investment.
It has helped many to gain income by doing jobs of mining etc.
But its not the only best cryptocurrency forever.
It do have some limitations. Since its introduction bitcoins are not accepted by all nations so we cannot claim it as a world currency.
It requires minimum infrastructure like mobile wallet, internet, electricity without which its useless.
Due to limited supply of bitcoins (21million)  its value is highly volatile, hence no valuation guarantee.
Bitcoin mining consumes large amount of electricity hence works only in those parts where electricity is cheap.
AlterNet energy sources requires huge investments.
In future new cryptocurrency which overcomes with these disadvantages may arise and replace bitcoins, till bitcoin is the king.

Bitcoin has the biggest market capitalization but that doesnt mean it is the best. It cant be used worldwide for payments because the fees are various during the day and sometimes they are very big. Also the thing that some transactions take some time to be confirmed is slowing the bitcoin growing. Everyday appears new coins with new technology. I think if they would have all stick together and be one coin with all the advantages, that would be revolutionary

I agree that bitcoin is the most appropriate choice as an option, because until now there is still no coin that can rival the power of bitcoin, bitcoin more and more users around the world.
