Title: Longest time for bitcoin to enter your wallet?
Post by: pennywize on October 27, 2017, 08:13:20 PM
I just started receiving $10 worth of btc in my android wallet. The process so far has been over 45 minutes. What is the longest wait you have personally experienced?

About two to three seconds was the longest wait for me to receive a transaction.

As for confirmations, which is probably what you're talking about, the longest has been about a day, which was around the period of very full blocks (earlier this year, probably in the April-May kind of time).

I usually try to make sure that people set an appropriate fee.  By now most wallets have fee estimation which often sets too high a fee rather than too low, which I suppose is the lesser of two evils and it's not a problem from my perspective.

When I send coins I usually check bitcoinfees.21.co (http://bitcoinfees.21.co) and pay the lowest I can without it getting stuck, which usually these days is somewhere between 10 and 30 satoshi/byte.

Well I had to say that it will depend on the location to where you are. 45 minutes is quite fast if you had to ask me, because in my country its delayed for like 6 hours or so. Well the transactions are not that easy as you think it is, and I had to say also that it depends on the wallet that you are using.

Bitcoin transactions are instant. It is just the transaction confirmation time that might take ages depending on the fee you paid. Usually higher the fee, faster is the transaction.
When i need to do a quick transaction fee and usually pay higher fees and the transaction gets confirmed with 10 min. Placing less fees gets my comfirmation done with ~60 mins.

45 minutes? That is nothing if you are talking about confirmations. It has taken more than a day for some of my transactions to get confirmed. Not a problem, unless you are trying to pay for a cup of coffee at the counter.

In my experience the longest time before i received the Bitcoin to my wallet is 42 Hours, that is the time when we are having problem with the miners. I did panic that time because i wanna cash out my Bitcoin once i received it but due to slow miners i wasnt able to cash out that day.

transactions are taking so much time right now, more than 4 hours to get the six confirmations required to get your deposit done in some exchanges.
But yes, transactions are instant, the first confirmation may take more than 20 or 30 minutes to get confirmed, but it is a good proccess since after the first confirmation all the others are going to get confirmed fastly.
they are taking a lot of time, and they are costing a lot, i think that there has to be a solution for this..

How much did you paid for the miners fee to receive that $10 worth of bitcoin? The fastest of my transaction only took 2-3 minutes before and the fees was just a regular priority that must took 1hr+ before it gets confirmed but maybe by that time I was just lucky enough. The longest time for my transaction to get confirmed is 24 hours, imagine I waited for a day to receive that amount but the twist there is by that time I'm not in a hurry.

sometimes i experienced that bitcoin do pending then it back to my wallet again but 3 hours is the longer time that bitcoin enter to my wallet.  The more the low bitcoin you pay, the more time it enter to your wallet but it depends if bitcoin is from another site, it could be spend much time.

My longest  waiting time is 6hrs.  45mins is already fast. Before I was using viaBTC to speedup the transactions. Now their free service is gone. Lets see if this fork thing can help to speed up BTC or ruins it.

no,  it not depends on the location rather it depends on the transaction fee you set or they set , the higher the transaction fees = the faster the bitcoin arrives  and the lower the transaction fee= the slower the bitcoin arrives. and i had to say 45 minutes is still low in a normal transaction because the fastest
possible time for bitcoin to arrive is about 5 to 10 minutes on a verry high fee or high priorty transaction and it doesnt matter which country do you live or your time zone is delayed by 6 hours.

There is not any experience in waiting, because simply, we can not do anything to solve this problem. Waiting is simply waiting, time depends a lot on the charge that we pay.

I sent myself $10 as a test two days ago. 3 1/2 hrs later nothing so I went to bed, woke up and it was done. Yaaaaa BTC is going to sh$*.

There is clearly a flaw and if we think in the years that come if popularity increases but the development doesn't, BTC will be over taken. Bitcoin Cash has a good foot hold already, if news really spread and the name bitcoin lost its edge it could over take easily.

bull to the shit  ;) waiting is not having access to your funds, and not having a completed transaction or a received product/service as a result of the transaction. my longest wait was three days; i sent some dust to a wallet to consolidate all of it, but didnt send fees because its dust, you know? it took a literal age for my coins to get the initial confirmation, and in that particular instance the price had shifted on me, so I liquidated (of course the price went back up immediately after I did this.

time equals money. lost time equals lost money.

i think its about 24hrs the longest time you been waiting before its arrive on your bitcoin wallet, thats is a very normal scenario that your bitcoin takes too much time in the blockchain, because every transaction now are have a designated fee if you want to make it faster, theres an option below when you are sending bitcoin, you can choose 3 types of them.

It took me 30mins to receive my friend's payment in my wallet. And the longest time to be confirmed, is when I have sent a payment for buying ethereum. I used my bitcoin to pay for it, and it took almost an hour or so. We have a slow internet connection that time, so I am worried that it won't be sent.

This is normal. It's possible that the gas costs you give are too low. It may be block delay. Wait a minute, it's supposed to be there. If the gas cost is too low and the transfer fails, it will be returned.

There is nothing to worry there mate, maybe the fee you pay is not that good to received the money on time, the lower the fee the lower the chance you have the fast transaction. Anyway, if you do not mind can we see the transaction details that you have there so we can check it out.
And is this your first transaction because it sounds yes.

45 minutes is nothing, I'd rather wait for a few hours than paying a higher fee.

But I remember waiting more than 2 days to get 1 confirmation. I think it was around July when the price dropped around 600$ in one week, i tried sending some coins but i didn't realize I put a slow fee, spent a whole weekend checking my wallet almost every hour to see if it got confirmed. That actually freaked me out because I thought my coins were gone forever. Since then I always check bitcoinfees.21 or estimatefee.

2,152 minutes to have a confirmation for the transaction (1 day, 11 hours, 51 minutes).

Like it was said before: Transaction was instant. Only the confirmation took some time.

If your fee are lowest as 1 satoshi you can definitely experience the longest time for the confirmations of your transactions on the blockchain network. about a weeks or two before it reach your precious wallet that's the longest time of waiting. but for my experience is 2 hours before it get confirmed and transferred to my wallet pretty long hours of waiting, i think i must raise the fee so that it can get confirmed in just a matter of minutes.

Hah! Amateur. I've waited for 2 days and 3 hours to have a transaction gain one single confirmation, and that is during the spam attack in Oct. 2016. Who would've known that from 1000 txs in the mempool, it would grow up to 130k+ pending transactions usually with dust outputs? That was what a group called their stress test on the network. It proved that the network isn't ripe for handling a heavy load of transactions that's why scaling debates pushed through.

The longest it took for a transaction to get confirmed for me was 9 days. I had sent a transaction of 0.01 BTC on February this year with a fee of 0.0002 for a transaction size of 616 bytes, 32.468 sat/B, low fee. It was a time when the network was heavily congested, around 80K+ unconfirmed transactions. The transaction was neither included in a block nor pruned by the network for 9 days, but finally got confirmed.

I do not think that you're talking about actually seeing the transaction move and you're talking about getting the transaction to actually be confirmed so you see it in your wallet. As for confirmations, the longest I have waited was maybe 12 hours, but I don't know for sure since I was asleep and it could have been confirmed at almost any point over the 7-8 hours I was out. The longest it has taken when I was awake was something like 4-5 hours, I don't remember exactly but it was during a point where the queue was very long and my fee was low.

Thirteen hours. Looking around here, it doesn't look like that's too special lol. The sender only followed Electrum's lowest recommended fee too, so it's pretty ridiculous. But man this doesn't paint a pretty picture. Something must be done to speed up confirmations if we want Bitcoin to move forward. Heck, I think it would be better if like, transactions a few days old automatically get priority. It's a really rough solution and it might even create more backlogs, but at least you can rest easy that your unconfirmed transactions *will* get cofirmed at some point.

This is the longest Time or days a transaction to be confirmed, and I think that congestion that you mention was also experience by me and my coworkers and that time yes there are around 80K plus unconfirmed transactions I was so sure that the Bitcoin would be sent back to the wallet of the sender that time but I've waited just a day and 6 hours for my bitcoin to enter my wallet, and if you know the bitcointicket.co transaction map you can see the number of unconfirmed transaction that is congested that time!

It depends on how much you pay for transaction fees, Bitcoin transaction is instant but you will receive your bitcoins if you pay higher fees and will only require some confirmations. The longest wait for me is when transfering my profit from trading in poloniex to my wallet since the fee is only 10k sat, It takes more than 10 hours before my wallet received it.

Bitcoin transaction will be done in just a few seconds or minutes. In confirming transaction it will depends on the fee you had sent and the volume of the transaction at the time of your sent. If you pay recommended fee or higher it usually takes 20mins to 1hour. If you only pay small fee expect it within the day to be confirmed.

As of my transactions, I experienced a 3 day experience of delay of the money, so I was so afraid if money comes, but that was due to the low fee the my senders put on that transaction which is so bad in my part.
In my experience, if you put the normal fee, the transaction will be confirmed in expected time and will not take longer as in my case.

3-4 days, its happen 2 months ago when blockchain have many unconfirmed transactions and the fee is really huge on that day. I do some transaction and the fee is quite normal $1-$3 but I was wait until 3-4 days, that was the worse time in blockchain history.

For me maybe it depends, the longest time i've been waiting for a transaction was about 5-6 hours. I have even read here someone have said its been 1 week since he transfer his funds, but it was too long and still he's been waitng for it, fortunately it arrived for a span of seven days, but actually it is really worrying when it hasn't arrive yet for 24 hours. Wait 45 minutes to get transaction confirmed is nothing special and you shouldn't be worried.
And few times when I sent bitcoins, it took more than 6 hours to get confirmation, but again, it's nothing special.

I eat out and pay in Bitcoin and never wait for confirmations. I scan my QR code, the transaction goes through and I leave. What's the problem?

The longest i've ever experienced is about 18 hours, it's back then in july or august. At that time the mempol is full and i sent a transaction with a low fee, i felt the default fee was to expensive and lower it a little bit, turns out it's a bad idea and made me wait a long time until it's confirmed.

I have sent once some 20-30 USD to Hashnest. It took 3 days to arrive in my Hashnest wallet. The confirmations were received after 30 minutes-1 hour, after a day there were 17 confirmations. I guess there was the Hashnest fault, I wrote them and I had the money in my Hashnest wallet the next day. But this was some months ago, after this all the money sent to them arrived in 30 minutes (3 network confirmations = 30-40 minutes). 70-80% of all bitcoin transactions arrive in 30-40 minutes after money is being sent.

I don't use wallet on Android. I use an e-wallet Xapo. When I send bitcoins from there they are transferred to the account within 15-30 minutes. It seems to me that the speed of receiving the money on account is not a critical issue. We can always prepare for your purchases. It is of great importance for trading with bitcoin, but now this function of bitcoin is practically not working. There are problems that need solving in the first place.
