It's type of memory. The Bios mod is needed if you are going to mine Ethereum as that is where your cards are best used at. Anyway there are tons but tons of videos of how to modify the bios of these cards at youtube. Go have a look.

And not all are good with same straps. So best solution is to use polaris bios editor 1.6.2 and use one click fix on bios you take from your graphic card.
