Title: Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Alt Coins etc..
Post by: Blazed on October 31, 2017, 04:32:50 AM
Gauging interest in this limited edition of the encyclopedia. This version has the signed labels attached to each makers page. IIRC this is the "Makers Edition" sold only to coin makers.

This is a Makers Edition #9 of 35. I am not really sure what number to call it... either #9 Makers or #25 Limited Edition Autograph Set? Maybe someone with more info about these can clarify for us.

What would you be looking to get for it?

Is it the regular or premium color version?  Also curious what these are going for.

I have no idea what the difference would be and can not seem to find that labeled anywhere.

I think I remember now...The autographs are also numbered. The autograph set is #21 and the book is #9. tbh, I have no idea. The book has had so many different versions I am lost.

Thanks for the information MJ, I got confused about the numbering as well and was hoping someone could clarify further.

You reference 1-30 and then 35 Maker's Editions, are there 35 total Maker's Editions with 5 overlapping the Autographs Edition?

How can one book be so confusing? How many total editions were created and is this version rare or less desirable than a regular version?

For the hardcovers, there were 20 Autograph Editions, of which they received a COA numbered 31-50.  There were up to 35 Makers Editions reserved for the coin makers who participated.  Of that minerjones seems to know how many were claimed to purchase.  Then there are regular non-limited hardcovers.  Any hardcover had the option to get premium paper.

Around 15 makers were given free label sets by me, which would have COAs from roughly numbers 15-30.

The COAs from me don’t necessarily match the numbers of any books, since the label sets could have been purchased separately and added to any hardcover or softcover.

I’ve been told from Elianite that the last 4 Autograph Editions have sold or traded for $5000 each.

With 19 Makers Editions claimed, they are currently about as rare as the Auto Editions, unless the leftover Makers. Ed.  stock gets released somehow.  But the Makers Editions don’t necessarily come with a label set unless they were offered to the maker, since not all makers were offered a label set.

All 50 sets of labels were complete with all signatures and holos with the exception of Ravenbit, Genesis and bhcoins, listed on the COA, if I recall.   I had a limited amount of those.

So a makers edition with a label set is somewhat rare?

All 20 Autograph Editions had labels.  There are 19 out of 35 claimed Makers Editions.  Out of those, only a handful also have a label set.  So one could say the Makers Edition are Currently more rare than the AE if they also have a label set. Again, I don’t know if Elias or minerjones are releasing the unclaimed Makers Ed.

Note that the paper could have been premium or not.

Also keep in mind that the label COAs were my project so those serial numbers don’t necessarily match the book numbers.  I kept the lowest numbers to resell and give away for free.

I hope for future editions they make it easier to follow for us slower folks  :P

Correct...

Autograph's Editions:  19  (Originally 20 copies, but 1 was lost during distribution)
-These were all Premium copies

Maker's Editions:  19 (of a potential 35)
- 16 Premium / 7 received label sets (came assembled like the Autograph's Edition)
- 3 Regular  / 1 received label set (Maker did not want book assembled. They kept their set loose)

So Blaze's book is 1 of 7 fully assembled Maker's Editions.

The rest of the Maker's Editions were never assembled. They were made/assembled when the orders were placed.
All though there is the potential to produce these at a later date if wanted, I would have to say I would not do this to keep their inherent value up and reward those who received theirs in the original distribution run. :D

Does the summary above cover all of the hardback editions?  I believe for the softbacks there were just two versions (signed and regular I believe).

are the ones here on ebay not numbered?  https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xencyclopedia+of+physical+bitcoins.TRS0&_nkw=encyclopedia+of+physical+bitcoins&_sacat=0

Were they released as both numbered editions and then unlimited ones as well?  ???

Those on ebay appear to be an unlimited edition...Just a regular version.

Yes, the softcovers and hardcovers are released as both a numbered edition and then unlimited

I believe there are the following:

Softcover
25 Signature Ed (with Mike Caldwell, 3 authors signatures)
75 Numbered 1st Ed.
Unlimited

Hardcover
19 (out of 20) Autograph Ed (with about 35 signatures and holos)
19 (out of 35) Makers Ed (can come as Premium paper or not)
Unlimited (can come as Premium paper or not)

Signatures and holo label sets
20 allocated to the Autograph Ed
30 sold or given to coin makers

Appreciate the further clarification MJ and I see what you're saying with this statement: "I don't think the intention was to have all 35 makers claim a set".

Great to see the original team still supporting the project and providing valuable information.  :)

If there is a new release, then I do hope it’s limited to 2 versions only — regular and special coinmaker’s edition. That would be MUCH easier on the rest of us.  :D

I have a copy, though its the normal version... I think.   Anyways If someone doesn't supply a index maybe I can  provide one once I get home.

EDIT:  Minerjones beat me to the punch.

There is no "index" per se' at the back of the book like most,
but here is pic of the Table of Contents... hope this helps
