Title: Mining with vega56
Post by: sebuz84 on October 31, 2017, 11:45:09 AM
Hello to all,

I have just assembled a mining rig with 2 AMD rx56 vega of Sapphire. I installed crimson drivers for blockchain but when nicehash or minergate startup appear artifacts on the screen until the software crashes. I tried installing "normal" video drivers not dedicated to mining and everything works but with a hashrate of 16 Mh/s. Is anyone aware of a solution to the problem? The motherboard is an asrock 81 pro btc. I installed everything from 0 including operating system.

Thank you

turn off crossfire and use a dedicated miner like cast xmr or xmr stak

Can you try reducing the clock. Maybe the blockchain driver use the GPU too much, your GPU is not high quality.

Use amd xmr miner instead, i found that one to work best on my vega`s. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2294324.0
Just remember to go to device management and enable then disable both vega cards and in wattman or overdriventool set memory speed to around 940 Mhz and minimum fanspeed in to 3000.

I hope you have installed Windows 10 OS, if so, please update to latest version 1709 first. Blockchain drivers are beta and they do not work well for everyone, for most they do but for few some they don't work properly. Uninstall all drivers with DDU(direct display driver uninstaller) , download latest AMD driver, restart, install latest AMD driver and I am pretty sure Nicehash should have no problems. Make also sure to go to bios configuration and change PCIE slots from Auto to Gen1.
