Title: Missing a massive run
Post by: nandro on October 31, 2017, 02:03:22 PM
Regardless of the fact that you know it's going to happen sometimes, don't you get a little pissed when you miss a massive run like right now...  I just watched BTC go up over 300 in 15 minutes...   Uggg!

Don't lose hope. There might be another run but this time you should wait and observed the market. You are not the first because there are a lot of people who have been missing a run. I remember I missed part of it during the Aug 1 fork, was out for the whole day, but bitcoin suddenly went $1000 in less than 24 hours. LOL.

It's really hard to have profit in alts while this BTC rally is running

It seems to me that you have a lot of attention to this event. Bitcoin just as easily can fall in price. If you are a trader then you better not look at the price of bitcoin. You only undermine yourself nervous system. Most bitcoin users keep their coins in the wallet for the future. What do you care how much bitcoin worth today?

Uhh did you sell your Bitcoin? I still hold mine and I'm happy that it keeps rising. But although I didn't completely miss it sometimes I hope that I have more time to accumulate some more before it goes on a massive run. Sounds greedy, I know :D

You better load your wallet before we start the next ride!

Maybe he is a day trader or doing some short of bitcoin. Regardless, bitcoin is not good for day trader in my opinion. Would rather invest on it for long term because its gonna be worth it plus you don't need to look at the everyday price swings. If you want to do day trading, as most of us here suggested, altcoin is the best, as well for short term investment. I hope you don't do day trading with bitcoin because its gonna be difficult now.

I had sold it early yesterday trying to pick some profit, and it just kept going up after being sideways most of the night...  Man I could kick myself right now!!

Don't lose hope. You have enough time. Just be patient and know more about bitcoin. Buy in deep and sell when you are in profit.

This is not the time to expect any profits from altcoins at all. Whatever the coin that you invested in is, its price goes up only when people invest in it.
Since the price of bitcoins is already going crazy enough and making a lot of people huge profits in a matter of minutes, no one will look for any altcoins now. You can either sell for a loss or wait until this wave is over and price kinda stabilizes.

When the profits of daily trading isn't high in btc as it's now, that's when altcoins get some attention back. Oh my god, btc just went up by another $300 ! It's totally unbelievable and I still believe it will crash a lot soon. I actually sold what I was holding (I'm not a long-term hodler) at the $6100 peak and it started going down a little bit but looks like it wasn't the end.  :'(

don't kick yourself, know that bitcoin is good for holding long term. and that is the easy move for everyone. if you want profit and want to trade you can set aside some portion of your investment for trading. try not to trade with all. and keep the rest in cold storage for long term and enjoy the rise.

I sold at 6220 and it's still annoying!  I either need some Xanax or I just need to get used to it. Being disabled it's something I see while I'm watching TV.  Looking at past trends it does seem to come down but it's the lost profit you get annoyed over.

Me either really.  Being on dissability, I have to buy low and sell high.  Losing is not really an option.  I barely make enough to live on so it's kind of like learning a job for me.  I broke my neck and lower spine so getting a regular paycheck is out for me...

Title: Re: Missing a massive run
Post by: nandro on October 31, 2017, 03:38:41 PM
I wasn't really trying to make a living.  I'm not dealing with a large amount.  For example, I started about 5 months ago with 600 bucks and have 1024 now. I'm just doing it to make a little here and there when I can. It's definitely not a job. It's just really hard to do anything with this kind of injury. Sometimes the pain is really unbearable.  I have had 4 operations and need 2 more.  To be honest, I lost more when my wife left after 16 years then I could ever lose doing this. But that's beside the point. I understand what you're saying though, that's why I don't spend or put in more than I could afford.

You not missing out on any runs, if you always have some coins in the game. My strategy is always to have some coins on

the side for this exact circumstances. If you go all in every time the price spike, then you are foolish. We have to learn from

our previous mistakes. Bitcoin bounced back to a record high price for years now... you just have to be patient and wait for it

to bounce back. {It can take a few years too, sometimes}  :-\

Bitcoin supply are 21million and were at 16+million of supply already.  I think bitcoin will rally until 1st quarter of the year since more and more promising projects from ICO  are born which want to compete with bitcoin. More and more people are trusting bitcoin even its volatility in the market because of its high profitability unlike in altcoin which are really dump now. Hope they will also have a pump now.

A few other cryptoholders, I know, invested in ETH at the beginning of the year and bought more ETH during the $3k china ban drop of BTC a few month ago. Now they feel left off, as BTC climbs higher and higher and the value of the altcoins stay somehow the same.
Not only did the forks of BTC gold and Segwit2x help to increase the value of BTC, but the big media attention and all the positive news around blockchain and the announcement of CME to start a BTC contract. Regardless of all the great altcoins out there, BTC is THE cryptocoin.

That is just another sign of bitcoin getting invested by huge investors at the same time and I believe it has got to do some business with the upcoming hard fork. Start counting your days as its coming in 14 days from now and also you will see many hikes like the one you saw. Its the bitcoin works and its always showing up the exponential growth in the long run. In my crypto career I have seen many hikes like that and also worst deeps you can't even imagine. But in any case you get the chance if you miss it. If you believe in the bitcoin then just keep an eye on it always and keep investing in the liquid state which gives your investment a stability.

yes it was based on its  movement in the market. And also there's a possibility cause some of bitcoiners have some theory on it i recently read that information in neither thread.  Ugg i repent we are late in this scenario. Maybe next time when btc fall.  Tssk

Welcome to the crypto community where you experience lots of "uggggss"! Well thats natural because crypto currencies are very uncertain and you never know which one will get pumped at what time. This is more often in the altcoin market where currencies are fluctuated like 500-1000% which is really unbelievable here in the crypto market but not forget its not unusual when you get to know it more.

I used to get pissed when I was very noob and did not really understand how the market works really but now as I know whole thing at some good level I can see where I'm going with it.

why wondering? bitcoin can reach much bigger than that, we see many speculations before and most of them are happening right now, bitcoin can reached maybe 10K$ after the first quarter of next year or possible it can be much earlier, we just needed to continue spreading the good potentials of btc to our
friends, relatives and all those people we know helping them to gain as well from this investment that we have.

do not be surprised, this will often happen in this year and early 2018. It is better to hold bitcoin in the wallet than to be in a hurry to sell it. Unless you want to trade it :D

Imho this run is not that massive. I belive that we should expect a BTC correction pretty soon so the price will come back and we will also see a strong correction after the ICO bubble will dump cryptos in the next year. So you can just try to wait for another run.
Btw I know a  guy that refused to buy BTC for 2100 usd before the august fork so don't blame yourself, there is always someone who lost more opportunities :)

You didn't miss, except if you don't have any money at all. Buy a satoshi or two if that's all you have. Besides. At that rate, you won't have lost very much when it goes down.

There are a reasonable number of financial gurus who advertise that Bitcoin will go to as high as $1 million, or anywhere between where it is now, and the $million.

Well, it's the time when you should watching the market very closely all the time if you want to catch your share. All the period before the fork will be so dynamic. But why to regret for missed opportunities, there will always be the new ones you just have to learn the lesson and be prepared for new ones. To be focused on your goal is the key.

Yes this has improved the volatility of the bitcoin and the brightness of the bitcoin is getting high. Now almost all the areas and all the countries are aware of the bitcoin and the bitcoin is now being the international currency so I hope the coming time is going to be the best time for the bitcoin. I hope the bitcoin is going to make all the things easy for me and I hope the value of the bitcoin will be very high in the coming era.

Is the general consensus that other cryptocurrencies will go up after the correction? Just wondering because it seems like what I had in other coins which I bought during the run have gone down a little bit more.  I figured I could catch a break there as a lot of people pulled out to dump into the top dog.

I am remembering how I sold several thousands of them at $100. And biting in my fingers when thinking about nice silver coin with 50 bitcoins on it which I didn't buy in one of early bitcoin conferences. That time price was $10. But still - interesting experience.
