What do you think will happen if this rumor become true?

I heard about that on October 26, Amazon will accept bitcoin. Now this date is postponed to Thursday. If this is true then it becomes clear why the price of bitcoin today did the trick. This is only the beginning. Trade has been the engine of any project. Without trade bitcoin it will be difficult to stay afloat.

Millions of player are active in steam platform, steam also accepts bitcoin for years but still many people don't purchase games there with bitcoin because either they have no idea about how bitcoin works or they are just happy with usual payment methods they are using.

Same thing can happen to amazon users too even after they will accept bitcoin payments, but if this will be true than people from underdeveloped or developing countries can also have international shopping experience, paypal is still not available in many countries so they can't shop online in international marketplaces like amazon right now.

Increasing the adoption of Bitcoin or not, people only care about how much they are going to profit. It doesn't change the fact that people will hype up the news and buy as many Bitcoins they can, increasing the market price. Almost everything in the cryptocurrencies world is going to work like this... Even if in the end it's not going to change anything.

But still, there are more Bitcoin users that are/want to be a Amazon customer, than people who buy Bitcoin and tend to buy Steam games.

Yes Amazon accepting Bitcoin will be huge! First off I don't think Amazon will accept Bitcoin for another year or so. Even when it does Bitcoin right now is mostly just an investment asset and reserve asset like stocks and gold. The payment part of bitcoin is only used a little bit right now. So when Amazon does start accepting Bitcoin it will likely take a while for people to buy stuff off Amazon with Bitcoin. But Amazon will be a crucial piece of the puzzle, maybe the most important piece outside of scaling bitcoin with super cheap transaction fees, in getting people to use Bitcoin as a payment platform.

They will probably announce some sort of ICO.

I have watched someone on CNBC and tackles about why we have to invest in bitcoin and he included to the number 1 list if I can remember it right that amazon is about to accept it.

If this rumor happens then there's another reason for bitcoin to pump and Amazon's reputation is great so those skeptic people about bitcoin will start to believe bitcoin.

Waiting for this day to come, surely bitcoin is going to fly to the moon.

The whole "Amazon accepts Bitcoin" rumour has been played out too many times and is turning out to be a farce. Amazon has Amazon coin which it is trying to propagate. Why should it dilute its stance by accepting Bitcoin?

The Amazon 'news' is a load of shit.

Retail adoption does nothing to increase the price.

Bitcoin couldn't cope if 1% of Amazon sales were via BTC.

There is no incentive for consumers to buy something so they can buy something, especially when there'll probably be a premium and the exchange rate falls by the time they're ready to pay.

Merchant adoption is a side show to nowhere. It'll happen last, it won't be a driver in BTC spreading further. It's great for those of us who already have it. It's a terrible deal for your average buyer and that won't be solved any time soon. Amazon won't have the margins to offer enough of a discount and what do they care anyway?

If amazon starts accepting bitcoin then it would be a mess because they are going to make a regulation due to money laundering polices, just like trying to create some terms who may say that you are only allowed to spend $100 a day if you pay with bitcoin.. $1500 max a month, and the list goes on..
But it is a nice way to try to increase the popularity of bitcoin, anyway, they are just rumours, i dont think that it is going to happen soon because we did not hear any of those news.

I think this will be a boost for bitcoin prices because it will be more familiar to people in the world and if bitcoin can already be used for shopping electronics, clothing and others. then this could be a breakthrough transaction in international stores like amazon if this is true because we also know that paypal is not available in some countries so bitcoin will be an alternative path and for those who already use bitcoin this will be very happy. because it will increase the popularity of bitcoin.

There's no substance to the rumor, as far as I can tell. I've seen multiple articles, all totally vague with no concrete sources. Pure speculation. And the thing is, do we really want Amazon to accept Bitcoin? Do you think seeing BTC in the Payment Method section will make people go out and buy it? It's just a way for BTC to get liquidated for fiat via payment processor. Amazon is in the business of e-commerce, not speculative investment.

It's a much bigger deal that the CME Group is adding BTC futures markets. That's the biggest exchange group in the world. Like LedgerX, it likely means that a lot of BTC is going to get locked up in custody for a long time. That's very bullish for the price, long term.

If it is true then bitcoin will go up like crazy, but yes, if them implement bitcoin or other important cryptos the their website, they are going to create a lot of regulations over bitcoin, a lot of people and bussiness sees bitcoin as a bad thing that only bad people are using them.
But who knows if all this is real? there aren't any news about amazon and bitcoin yet, how do you know that they are going to be accepting it on a few days? i am curious about that.

People buying amazon gift cards using a lot of services that charge fees, and some people bought the bitcoin credit card especially for this thing, bitcoin users will enjoy this,
and more people will make search about bitcoin and why its so popular and used everywhere, I betting huge number of investors will put there money in bitcoin.

I don't know - I remember there was a guy who used some chat support of Amazon and pestered the consultant for so long that he eventually agreed that sure Amazon will accept bitcoin soon. He then posted the chat logs here and people got excited. It was in 2012 or something.

Yes i have been reading a lot of posts talking about this, but i tried to check all around the internet and there are no official notices or releases about the amazon team, there is no way to say that they will start accepting bitcoins because it is not true, probably those are just false rumours.
anyway, it would be a very good thing to see it happening, because it would mean that bitcoin will rise by a lot of money.. but i hope that it can happen before this year ends, it would be a nice christmas gift, lol.

It is difficult for these big transnational companies to bow to the potential of bitcoin. I think they are more likely to announce something related to some development based on the blockchain or their own coin. However, I do not lose hope that sooner or later the giants will bow to His Majesty the Bitcoin.

I highly doubt amazon will accept bitcoin for at least a year or more. If Amazon starts accepting bitcoin then every online retailer will follow in their footsteps. Which would be awesome for bitcoins value but I doubt it will happen within 2017.

If amazon rumor were to be proven true, for sure it will boost price to a great extent upwards. Amazon, after all, is a big merchant and if ever they would accept bitcoin, there will be an added constant demand for btc which will be caused by buyers that wants convenience on paying for amazon's goods. It will also help massively in cleaning the reputation of bitcoin.  It might help bitcoin achieve new high by next year or before the year ends if this rumor is true.

This would be a good news for Amazon, not for Bitcoin. Yes, it will cause this pump trend to continue if they announce that tomorrow, but i don't believe that Bitcoin needs these kind of companies to implement it in their systems. Sooner or later, they will see that BTC is game changer and it is not going anywhere. We use it today, and we will use it tomorrow, even if they ban it in every single country.

if Amazon starts accepting bitcoin it will be great for bitcoin but not in the sense that people think, as in everyone will start using it instead of fiat on Amazon!
people who have bitcoin are not so eager to start spending bitcoin. that means even if Amazon news was right and they started accepting bitcoin for real, there won't be that many transactions with bitcoin all of a sudden.
but the good part is the good publicity that it gives bitcoin. everyone around the world will see bitcoin as a currency. and from that day onward there is an additional big business (including Microsoft and Dell) that is accepting bitcoin so when people like JPMorgan CEO starts talking crap, everyone will laugh at him not just some.

As I can see bitcoin is getting high than ever. It's reasonable if " Amazon accept bitcoin & China use bitcoin once again " issue are quite popular so when bitcoin start to pump , people also got enthusiast to buy bitcoin as well so there is a chance for bitcoin will reach $ 7000 in the end of year !

that is a big "if" though.
bitcoin has been around for a long time an all this time there has been so many people wanting Amazon to start accepting bitcoin but it has not yet happened.
other big US based companies such as Microsoft have already done this years ago, so there must be something preventing Amazon from doing it already and i don't think it is yet lifted.

I think it’s just a rumour, I’d love it if this was true but I think at the moment this is just chinese whispers. I will obviously be keen to follow what, if anything, happens Thursday though.

I pray the rumor turn out to be truth. If this rumors turn out to be truth we may see bitcoin crossing above  $10,000 before the end of this year. Amazon is a mainstream retail ls online job and if it can accept bitcoin as a mode of payment then we would all be rich and bitcoin will go all round the world.they maybe a pattern that amazon may be working to see that they used bitcoin as a mode of payment and the news is all over the net, this is good because it creates hope in blockchain technology.

But why there are no official statements yet? I think that this information should be disseminated very quickly, and if this is true, then for all expects a lot of bonuses. especially if all the others do the same.

This rumour have been quite on air since mid last month. I don't know how true it is or how soon it will happen.
The thing there is that if it turns out true, then that's a huge leap for Bitcoin.

The price increase if ever Amazon will accept Bitcoin as payment is expected since Amazon is a big market. Amazon has many clients and if Amazon will make the rumors into reality, the people who do not know about Bitcoin might get engaged to it. And since a big company will accept Bitcoin, its affiliates and partners might go with the flow and begin to accept Bitcoin as well.

" Bitcoin-related innovation " there are lot of Bitcoin-related innovations such as the Blockchain technology, the Security or the Money transfer or a token. We need to still wait for their confirmation about this matter, but if the rumors that they will accept Bitcoin as a payment is true then it could really help to boost the popularity of Bitcoin which may lead to "normalization" of reputation of Bitcoin as a Digital currency and of course it will help to boost the price of Bitcoin.

that's right in every updates and innovation coming from this system it will attract attentions and will gain new investors, I'm not sure if rumors comes from amazon to adopt bitcoin will happen but if does, it will bring more usage and that's a good reason the value will rise up, if amazon open the door of using btc as payment more companies will follow.

Amazon legal department have registered 3 domains yesterday amazonethereum.com amazoncryptocurrency.com and amazoncryptocurrencies.com and Amazon have also registered amazonbitcoin.com in 2013 so it might be the day when Amazon officially accepts bitcoin. This is also supported by the fact purse.io which coordinates your purchases from Amazon by BTC through gift cards of Amazon is doing a good business so I think Amazon wants to drop the middle man and want to reap that profit too

Well I think it’s a very great news from amazon that they are going to accept bitcoin and I believe they will also use bitcoin as other countries are using I mean they will invest here as well as they will start daily trade as well and its will also help to bitcoin in price so I must welcome amazon to be a part of bitcoin hope some countries will accept bitcoin.

I personally think it will affect not only the price of Bitcoin, but the other businesses as well. Amazon has been known for years already around the globe. It's influence is already big as it is a reputable company. Other businesses may be enourage also to accept Bitcoin and thus will lead to greater increase of price. I hope this rumor will come to reality. It is a win-win situation for both Amazon and the people and even the economy as a whole.
