Subj.

Curious about linking...probably just individual miners linked to a single wallet/acct on each phone.

Bitcoin mining with smartphones seems like an even bigger waste than altcoins, regardless pretty interesting. Unfortunately their desktop PC comparison was to an i7 2600 that's three years older than the S5. Beginning feels like bait to me, comparing the phone to 'stronger than a desktop processor'.

I read that article earlier, interestingly I watched some documentary about "super metals" on youtube today, and how they are in short supply, for instance some metal in mobile devices required will run out in 30 years, so are actively looking for alternatives.. of course 30 years is a LONG WAY in the tech world, but really what I am saying is, even though the Bitcoin mining rig, although cool is not very effective, Samsung have other apps, and community strides that have totally new OS's on, ready for upcycling and reuse.

Interesting story. I feel like that's a fire waiting to happen though.

Cellphone mining is very useless and cannot get profit. The cellphone will blow up soon when it use for mining.

It claims that it could be a good option compared to mining with CPU, but i7 2600 also is a very old fashined one.
It seems meaningless for profitability.

It's more energy efficient, but you get basically 0 hashrate

I don't believe in such a possibility. Now it is impossible to effectively mine bitcoins using your PC. What do you want from a mobile phone? Any phone is weaker than the old PC. It seems to me that such projects are designed to gather information about the user of the phone. Maybe it's a virus which is designed to access the 2-factor authorization.

It doesn't sound positive and there is no chance that we can make profit.

I doubt it is usable. Modern phones are quite powerful, but there will be a problem with power and cooling. Even as a malware, it would not be a good idea, it would probably drain the battery in minutes and reveal hidden mining.

Even on PC mining bitcoin isn't not really possible and I don't know whose the one did have this kind of idea to use these old Samsung s5. I would like to know the total hash rate of this rig  ;D  I would rather believe it would be possible on altcoins but yet its not profitable at all and you are just really wasting up your effort and time on having this kind of idea.
