Title: [ANN] Merge of DGC and ARG Development Teams
Post by: baritus on June 14, 2013, 01:55:21 PM
Hello,

The digitalcoin and Argentum development teams are merging into one unit. The two currencies will remain separate but the expertise of both teams will be shared.

There are many reasons for doing this:
1. Strengthen development
2. Quicken the pace of service introduction
3. Share knowledge and expertise
4. Save time by sharing services
5. Lastly, and most significantly, this enables both of our ongoing projects which require multiple instantaneous currencies to function optimally to move forward

Here is the new structure:
Lead Developer: baritus
Developers: AlphaC, Anon
Web developers: 2
Software developers: 2

digitalcoin will benefit from an enlarged team and integration into further services. Argentum will benefit from experience and a larger development support base.

This seems weird.  Aren't Argentum and DGC pretty similar?  You would think they would be competing...

Edit:  Not trying to cause trouble, and I have supported both coins.

Why compete when you can avoid it?  :)

if the coins can capitalize on shared coding and support I'm all for it.  As long as you are able to differentiate each one.  I don't want to see the same features being implemented in both coins if they are meant to serve different purposes.  I would like to see what your development paths are for each coin and what makes then distinct.

Interesting.  Hopefully, DGC can use some of the funds from ARG.  DGC funds are running dry.   :)

I don't think ARG is on an exchange yet, so no funds I think.

Is DGC going to be funding ARG in any way?

DGC has a future. I really don't see a future for ARG.

I meant ARG for bounties...  AlphaC has plenty of it.   Use it wisely.   ;D

I'd totally support this being done.

If that's the case then why are there two coins...

Two coins.. Different characteristics, both useful in their own way.

We would rather work together than against each other. Do you not find allies a good move forward?

A larger team supporting both coins can only strengthen both. This is a great decision.

How?

I don't see any problem with allies I just don't see the purpose of further market dilution.

Why have two people work on similar things when you can one two people work on one thing and get twice as far.

Regardless best of luck on your journey!

US dollars are useful.

Euro is useful.

They serve the same purpose pretty much, but being allies increases them both in the face of competition.

There are more than just DGC and ARG here. An alliance gives these two an advantage.

u can start making a multi wallet having DGC and ARG together. My wallet folder starts being too big :P

Anyway, DGC sounds better than ARG....

So does this mean you will eventually create another coin that is some sort of a byproduct of DGC and ARG?

There aren't plans to create a third. There are plans to create a new way of using crypto-currency which is only possible with two such currencies.

If joining forces, why keep both alive? It would make more sense to throw all efforts at one coin instead of two... either way both will probably die.

? Really? This comment coming from the developer....

lol, wow, Just goes to show you folks out there who is in charge of the development. Immature, no class, and childish... You just confirmed that there is no professionalism behind this coin.

I showed how immature you are with your pointless comments.

Only an idiot would take offense at that. You'll die, I'll die, litecoin will die, bitcoin will die. Does that mean our endeavors are pointless?

Now go along and release icecoin2 :D And this time, add a checkpoint after your premine :D

I dont, people expect more from developers though. Not countless pointless alts. Hazard.
Yea IceCoin was a failure, so what, I didnt create the coin, and Im not gonna try and make another one, unlike some people who keep failing..... Hazard.  lol You do realize about half the people on this forum have you ignored right,    *ignore.

Regardless, DGC has been literally the only altcoin that hasn't crashed and burned on cryptsy. Has an active dev who keeps pushing out new services. Him helping out with ARG can only mean good things.

Expect more from developers?  But aren't you a developer?  Shouldn't you be busy developing your precious coin instead of trolling?

Has nothing to do with the same person developing both coins... No not at all :)
Ha ha, what a joke..

Sad to see DGC dev associated himself with scam team. I guess Baritus was not too happy about his DGC profits, so he joined the premine team, that claims a fair launch. It is not a fair launch. It is just bad publicity for DGC.

People need to take a chill pill. Arg and dgc are still seperate coins with seperate services. They are just sharing resources. Dgc all the way ;)

I was fairly excited about DGC's potential until reading this. Associating yourself with ARG is a mistake, but I'm sure you knew that. I hope whatever payout you got was worth it.

Agree, I'm also a bit discouraged to find a willing dilution like this.  I personally don't believe the coins serve two different markets. DGC should have adapted with an update to cover any perceived market gap or shortcoming.

So you're comparing DGC and ARG to the US and the Euro?

I just wanna make sure that's clear before I help you understand how crazy that is.

Doesn't seem like its hurt either of their values atm. Its all good.  Onwards and upwards for dgc!  ;)
