Just like the title says. 2 scared to try it out and fry my riser/gpu

Yes you can.

Move  the two pin out of the way and put in the six pin in the riser.

Before this you should check pins of your connectors. CPU 8pin and GPU 8pin are different. For supply GPUs from CPU 8pin power connector you need to use proper adapter

You cannot use the CPU 8pin directly. You have to use an adaptor.

Pinout is NOT THE SAME between an 8-pin CPU connector and an 8-pin PCI-E connector.

 If you are careful though, there is a matchup between the 6 pin PCI-E connector and the corresponding 6 pins of a CPU connector - but I advise you to use an adapter unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
