Title: Avalon 741 0verheating Post by: edrich on November 01, 2017, 08:08:52 PM Hi, I received an avalon 741 yesterday, but for some reason it overheats in 10-15 minutes and then restarts again. After changing the voltage to -2 and making the fan's minimum speed 50, It still reaches 100 deg C in a few minutes and then restarts. After an inspection of the miner I think that the fan was put in the wrong way, the fan currently blows air into the machine, is this correct or should it be turned around. If this is not the fault, then any other suggestions why the miner might be overheating?
Outside temp is 27 Title: Re: Avalon 741 0verheating Post by: wavelengthsf on November 01, 2017, 08:18:56 PM My avalon fans all blow air away from the machine, not into it.

Thank you, Yes mine blows air into It and I think that might have been the problem, will swap it around and see if it helps.Title: Re: Avalon 741 0verheating Post by: lightfoot on November 06, 2017, 11:36:17 PM Yep, reverse the fans. Air is a fluid, and it is easier to pull air through a miner than push it through. Pushing creates turbulance and negative pressure zones.
Weird they sent it that way. Title: Re: Avalon 741 0verheating Post by: edrich on November 07, 2017, 05:30:26 PM Yep, reverse the fans. Yes, I changed it around, and now the fan is only running at about 40% with chip temps 27/88Weird they sent it that way.
