Title: Best mining Pool?
Post by: CrazyGuy on June 28, 2011, 12:57:48 AM
I started with BTCGuild a couple days ago and I was averaging about .63 btc a day, at 700mh/s. Sunday morning my miners went idle for 7 hrs due to a network timeout. I switched to deep bit since it is supposed to be more stable but I only averaged .49 btw in the last 24hr. Is this abnormal? Should I switch to another pool? What kind of rates are you guys getting?

BTCGuild is awesome.  They are growing at a crazy fast rate.  This has lead to major growing pains.  In two months he went from 1 server to SIX!  Your generation per day sounds pretty normal.  You could join a smaller pool if you want less downtime *hint hint*  ;)

i started on BitClockers but it's a small pool and the payouts didn't seem right. i switched to BTC Guild and the payouts are more consistent - and i get far less stales (under 1%). but all of that could just be from the amount of blocks being solved so quickly. i'm happy there.

I bet on Triplemining.com , because even if your hardware is not that good, you allways get BTC for referring a friend. + there is a jackpot system

I like BTCguild because donations are up to you so if you're feeling good slap 5% if you're not give 0% and its incentives based so you can get emails etc when your miners are down if you donate.

I love Eligius! It's a small enough pool that my earnings are in Bitcents and not milli-BTC. Also I get transactions saying "Generated" as opposed to a regular transfer every now and then. The stats are awesome, too!

take a look at slush's pool.  not so much at rates (none of which are all that terrible), as at stability.

the last time there was a major DoS attack, slush took it hard.  this time, the pool has weathered the storm better than any other.  slush has changed a few things - like miners are whitelisted - and seems to be holding firm.

as a simple matter of economics, i'd much rather pay a slightly higher fee for much higher uptime, than a lower fee and lose mining time to these attacks.  YMMV.
