You should use a non-US domain name then. e.g. .is for Iceland. At least in addition to the .com

We run our main site frontend as .com but our server panels will be using a .li address in a few days when DNA propagates.

When Verisign bought out Network Solutions, they became in-charge of the .com/.net/.org gTLDs which already had an agree with ICANN, overseen by the US Dept. of Commerce.  Verisign still runs the wholesale business of the previously stated gTLDs as well as several other TLDs (.cc/.edu/.gov/.jobs/.name/.tv... and probably some I am forgetting).  The confusion between .com/.net and .org is that .org was split-off from Verisign as it was meant to be used by non-profit organizations.  This never became an official requirement and while .org domans are issued by the registrar PIR, PIR is fully-owned by Verisign.  What's actually more disturbing is that the 13 root nameservers are controlled by ICANN, which is why people say the US Govt owns the Internet (of course there a many more than 13 server locations and they are not all within US borders anymore, there are a few hundred in fact, but they are duplicates nodes of those original 13).  Due to local contacts I actually spent some days during the summer of 2006 at the root nameserver hosted at UMD College Park (aka Root D).  Pretty sloppy wiring job there and a friend who used to be responsible for certain network operations at AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange), which houses several redundant root nameservers, said it was a mess on his end too.

Iceland's ccTLD (.is) is a pretty safe bet, as the .is registrar (ISNIC) basically refuses to entertain anything but a court order from an Icelandic court (they have stated numerous times that when it comes to legality/policing domains, this is the responsibility of the owner of the domain, not the ISNIC).  I believe The Pirate Bay still owns/operate its .is domain (they received orders from a Swedish court to disable the domain but like I said earlier, they won't take orders from any nation's court outside of their own) but they also use .sx, which is a ccTLD for the small Caribbean Island of Sint Maarten (I don't about the registrar that runs it, but if The Pirate Bay is keeping it on stand-by, it must have a good reputation for ignoring international law).

due to major upgrades on our system due to overwhelming requests from hosting we are currently revamping our services. All of our services are offline at the moment due to this upgrade. thepiratebay moved to the sint maarten because some guy * i forgot who he was but my guess was he was important* tried to seize all of thepiratebay domains. so out of security pirate bay moved to sint maarten.  I actually looked into getting a .sx domain the other day :) that country is sketch haha

that's the exact reason we started this project. me and my partner went through 5 web hosts all failing to provide decent hosting, to much downtime, no support, etc. We decided to make our own and we've been working on learning, developing, marketing our own hosting service since. We just want to provide quality hosting.

if I were u I'd limit the number of clients you bring on (like Motionite). I'm sure people wouldn't mind paying double the price for double the quality. I've seen too many of these come and go.

We've had that in mind. Reason we had to go offline all of a sudden is to make sure that we would be able to provide the best quality we can. We currently have our system setup and organized to automatically route new clients to the servers with the most space. We also limit how many clients per server to provide the maximum efficiency. Unlike other host services that try and overfill their servers we are basing our service on quality. We actually under fill our servers compared to other hosts.

On another note i do like your suggestion/ input on this. it helps us make a better decisions :)

I'm not seeing any way to install PHPMyAdmin or a way to manage SQL databases. Actually, when I go to the applications section I'm not seeing any way to install web apps at all. Nothing comes up in search.

Any way to use an external SQL management program?

mysql is installed by default. login the plesk panel and click on the "website & domains" tab then you will see an icon called databases. click that.  you will see databases and you can add a new one or see existing ones. after you add one you want click the name of that database. you will see a icon called webadmin. click that and it will open phpmyadmin and done :)  you can access any information needed in mysql.

Also please refrain from asking for help in this thread. Their is a support ticket option on the main site that is always available 24/7 for yo to use. Also i can assist you in any way using pm's on bitcointalk. We prefer you use our support ticket feature but i personally dont mind going through bitcointalk pm's :)

For the prices given of your hosting plans im concerned of how many people you put onto one server...?

We limit it based on bandwidth being used and resources. We don't use more than 50% of the disk per server or if we each 60 unique accounts whichever comes first on average. we currently operate 2 servers our first one isnt at capacity yet and the other 1 is at standby for new clients.

Do you do domains?

Almost every hosting provider gives refunds :p but we do offer domains. The list of TLD's we offer is on our website. You can select the TLD's lost when you search for a domain name. A TLD'S is the end of a domain. Examples: .com, .net, .sx, .se.

I'll transfer after syn. All setup there for now but they have yet to transfer my domain :/

How do you protect the domain too since you have to use a registrar?

Our register enom handles all, our domian inquires. We use 2 fact authentication across our network for staff. We use enom to privacy protect the Whois data and lock it fom identity theft. Enom.com can provide you more info on how they secure and prevent mishaps from happening.

to my knowledge and knowledge shown in this thread by very informative individual as long as its not a u.s tld then your golden. the U.S can revoke u.s tlds based off the dmca act. so if you don't have a u.s tld then the u.s cant revoke it. upon further research enom doesn't seem to care about it. Enom's only dmca notice and information only applies to the webhosting they offer. Our webhost isn't hosted in the u.s so we don't have to follow dmca policies. If its a u.s tld the u.s can revoke it according to dmca policies and enom will follow through an a request of that nature. regarding non u.s tlds enom cant legally revoke it. Enom must follow the rules of the respected tld country.

I suggest you do some information hunting on tld's so you choose the best one for what you are looking to host and avoid any dmca type law revoking the domain. We do our research on hosting to make sure no dmca type laws can be applied to hosting.  There is great information on this thread about great non dmca tlds also you can look at sites like thepiratebay and more to provide an even more infomation

Also if you want a list of all .sx registrars go here: http://www.registry.sx/ type the domain you want and it will check if its available and will give you a list of every domain register that sells .sx. Note that prices vary from registrar to registrar. So a little research could mean $40 a year or $60 a year. :)

Also aim towards a domain seller that is not u.s based and one from Europe or other places to be safe. .com, .net are examples of u.s tlds. Also read the terms of service for the domain registrar to be positive. It's better to be safe then sorry :)

Hehe. I can personally buy you the domain in a random name if you wish. You will have to find the registrar of your choice and either pay in advance, escrow, or have an account on coding agency to be invoiced for it though before I buy it.

They both should resolve. Ping codinginc.com or aztecgaming.org if you went to test speeds. Codinginc.com and aztecgaming.org are both domains that have an active account with us. They are my personal domains so its alright to share this information.

if the domain isn't added to our system then it doesn't accept service. Basically you have to have an active account to make it work. You can use codinginc.com and aztecgaming.org to do any test you wish they use the same name servers we distribute.

well i did scam him but its not related to my hosting services. and he should be not posting here because its not related to this thread. he should be opening a scam accusation thread and go from their to be honest. Also on a personally note the scam was a personal gain sort of thing and had nothing to do with my webhost company or any services i provide. All the services i provide i do allow escrow no matter what. It's not a problem : P I'm ignoring him until he takes to proper steps. And on top of that what hes trying to do is sketch and has actually been reported to the proper authorities as of friday. trying to ship 66lb's of dress's my ass
