I am not sure, but maybe more than 8. Also you need to be online for more than 4 hours. I guess.

How to get out of the bitcointalk.org forum "newbie" jail:
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Newbies > NEWBIE README
(http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0 (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0)

Newbie Restrictions
You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have 5 posts(new topics or replies) and at least 4 hours on the forum. After you meet the requirements, it can take up to 10 minutes for your account to be automatically upgraded.
IMPORTANT! LOOK HERE!-> YOU MUST BE ON THE FORUMS FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS TOTAL EVEN AFTER POSTING 5 OR MORE POSTS!

How to tell you are out of "newbie" jail:
Look at one of your own posts. Look under your User ID or "Name" in the upper left corner of your post. See the single gold coin or 2 gold coins? In between the gold coin or coins and your "Name" is your status.
If there are 2 gold coins and it says Jr. Member, you are FREE! Congratulations!
If there is only 1 gold coin and it says Newbie, you have either not posted 5 posts yet OR you haven't been logged onto the forum for 4 hours yet.

Hope this helps. (grin)
