Title: Etherscan Vs Ethplorer
Post by: xianbits on November 04, 2017, 06:24:28 AM
Pardon if it has already been ask. Please inform me if there are threads for this already as I can't find one.
Okay, I know that these are useful ethereum blockchain explorers but I am quiet confused to why are these two sites give different estimated values of tokens? Which one can be considered more accurate than other?

Well ethplorer prices my 5M eDoge with above 49k dollars. That's about 99,99% wrong, as it nearly has no value at all. So there's a bug in there somewhere. Etherscan doesn't give a price for it at all. It seems like Etherscan takes their prices straight off Etherdelta. I'm not sure what the fuck ethplorer does.

different estimated values of tokens but this is normal because Etherscan and Ethplorer was developed with different team, different estimation values of tokens caused by:
  • use of APIs from different exchanges
  • BUG in Etherscan or Ethplorer

Which one can be considered more accurate than other?

I think etherscan is more accurate than ethplore

By Ethplorer it's easier to add a token to your wallet. In my opinion, Etherscan shows a more accurate price for tokens, but it does not do it for all tokens. Yes, and the price is average, and the market has a variance! Therefore, I always keep track of prices for tokens directly on stock exchanges, not in my wallet ;)
