Title: [GREEN] Sustainable/Regenerative Energy Coins
Post by: YuurinBee on November 04, 2017, 12:11:13 PM
Hey, everyone

I was wondering if there is a specific section or group on here where people talk about environmentally conscious coins - or projects wanting to take better care of the planet - via positive social change, environmental, or conservation.

So far, I have found WePower, Power Ledger, and now BitProperty that look really awesome.

WePower Website: https://wepower.network/ (https://wepower.network/)
Power Ledger Website: https://powerledger.io (https://powerledger.io)
Bitproperty WebsitE: https://btptoken.io/en/ (https://btptoken.io/en/)

I would really love to see the world of crypto get more actively involved with projects that will actually benefit all life and not just looking for quick gains, but in a perfect world... we could have both :)

I also got into WePower at the PRE-ICO stage and really excited to see the development of this project with their pretty epic team.

I agree with you that it is time for his developer to make projects about the environment, social and energy. If this happens then will many people who participate dan care about our planet and can bring positive impact.

I don't think there is a thread about sustainable coins (feel free to make one if you would like to discus), however the coins you mentioned have an announcement page on BCT:

Wepower: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2207367.0
Powerledger: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2003922.0
Bitproperty: None

I love this topic. I'm also interested in sustainable environments and renewable energy solutions. I've been researching this topic for a long time. I'll follow your list!
I have The Movement to add to the list. The vision is all about people getting together to create value, and positive social impact. A global Green Movement can be established on the platform - it will be supporting VR tech to collaborate on real world issues

How come I couldn't find any of these on coinmarketcap?

Green energy markets are still markets and where money meets environment there is opportunity for deception and conflicts of interest. I'd be wary of environmental coins claiming to save the earth. Energy and environment are extremely complex subjects.

Thats a very good point. I think one needs to look very specifically into any - market-based - company that is selling itself as "green" in any way. Still, I think when there really is opportunity for crypto to make the world a more environmentally-sustainable place, this would be an honourable investment.

The efficient "green" solution was not yet discovered.
1.  Wepower simply need their product (green power) to grow in price the same speed as growth cryptocurrency marker. Otherwise this will be an uneffective investment.
2. Powerledger. A some kind of app that will deal with the green power which is not working good for now? Nah, that won't work.
3. Bitproperty. The project is not rly about the green power and honestly the idea doesn't seem to be clear. Anyway it reminds me about Horisin state (HST). After the ICO there was a good pump and then the prices rushed down. As people are investing aiming to get a profit then bitproperty also looks unsafe.

It's nice to see some green friendly projects cropping up. There is becoming a lot of pressure from the governments to go this way so they could be huge projects to get involved with, potentially good pay outs later on.

Thank you for your reply! Good post!

Care to elaborate a bit on 1.)? Do you think it is possible/reasonable that WePower achieves this?

I think the main thing they have in common is they are underestimating the conflicting interests of various stakeholders in the energy sector and especially the availability and scalability of different energy sources. It's not just a matter of supply and demand.
